Gwen has loved Jesus since she was a girl. But for many years having a daily time with God felt like being tied to a ball and chain. It felt like a religious duty she had to perform to get God to love her. Then the light of Jesus’ words broke through: “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it.
Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly,” (Matt. 11:28-30). That’s when she learned her own rhythm of connecting with God. Gwen Jackson is author of “Unforced Rhythms: Why Daily Devotions Aren’t for All of Us.” She joins us to share her journey into freedom and to show why a daily time with God isn’t the only way to draw from the river of life!
