It’s called UnCANCELLED and it was shot during the spectacular Fallas Festival in Valencia. Has you hear from my chat with Luke Eve, director and co-writer and lead this film crosses the boundaries between real life and fiction in a hilarious, sobering and sometime poignant way. the film on September 12th on youTube for two weeks only. After that, the film will be on Channel 9 who just acquired the movie. Special screening 12th September, to coincide with the launch on Youtube. Downs and Will Weatheritt, who also stars in the series as ‘Joey’. Will has been a part of this community for years, working in their local supermarket and living close by. Second we talk with Australian composer Ashley Davies here about his upcoming film screening and exhibition at Sun Cinema of Gold. GOLD is a unique, animated musical creation inspired by a series of 10 watercolour paintings left in a will from a family’s favourite Uncle. These paintings are based on the story of Lasseter's Reef which became Australian folklore during the Great Depression. Harold Lasseter was on a journey to find a 15km gold reef in the most remote part of Central Aus. He encountered many obstacles on his journey, was eventually labelled a liar and was ultimately left in the desert to fend for himself, where he eventually died. However, Uncle Len’s paintings present a contrary perspective of the story. The watercolours highlight the beauty in Lasseter’s journey and even portray his death as radiant.

I recieved a release about a Melbourne-based film technology company Blackmagic Design who announced that the award winning documentary Playing With Sharks, which looks at the life of Valerie Taylor, used it’s Cintel Scanner C-Drive HDR to digitise hundreds of hours of underwater archival footage, much of it shot by the Aussie shark researcher and photographer decades ago. This set a train of thought about all the different types of formats that the material must have been shot on and the hours of material to be processed and the technology behind making such a project manageable physically and financially seemed just short of miraclous. At least worth finding out about.

An amazing film because of it's tight focus on the emotions of the unravelling adults who come to metaphorical blows as they strive to gain their social equalibrium with one family trying to skirt the actual issue of the assault and the other demanding an appropriate response to deal with the assault.

They are showing at the Nova in Carlton with two programs of five films showing on the Nova site the first is for this Sunday March 28th followed by five more on 18th of April. A feature lenght film that takes us to the Tarkine and suggests avenues for your support in the struggle.
