I talk today to Dr. Sylvia McLain who has a PhD in Chemistry and is a visiting lecturer at the Department of Chemistry in University of Sussex.

I asks her initially about her research which relates to some various types of sugars, drugs and proteins. Apart from these, she points out why water is important to our body. Though we all know water is essential to our survival - the actual role water plays as it interacts with all the components of life is still yet unknown.

She also mentions that there's a way to design a chemical that can affect the diet of some people (hint: sweet). But it's funny to think that some people want to avoid eating food with chemicals but aren't aware that we actually consume chemicals all the time. Sounds confusing?

As humans, we have different habits but some have bad effects on our health. Dr. Sylvia shares her experiences as a runner and swimmer and her reason on why she started running. Then now why she continues to swim and the effect it has on her mind.
