About the Saying/Idiom

*Around WW2, as many household items as possible were contributed to the war effort— raw materials, including all metal, to be used for the U.S. arsenal. Being the heaviest thing in a home then, old ceramic and cast iron kitchen sinks were generally the only things families were left with.
