We have seen the team programming.
We have shown you what the programming COULD have looked like from years past.
Chase and Bill FINALLY give their predictions for the 2024 Individual CrossFit Quarterfinals.
Small Team? No problem. We figured it out!
The feedback from our GWTP Strength of Field system, though MUCH more accurate, engaging and flat out better, it would be very difficult to manager the quality of scores during The Open.
Fear not, difficulty does not dissuade us and Chase has found a solution to not only make the GWTP Strength of Field system a reality but it's even more simpler than you would imagine. Listen and find out.
Team Quarterfinals are wrapping up and Individual Quarterfinals are just around the corner.
With 25% of the athletes from the Open advancing to this years Quarterfinals we have been told that the programming will be adjusted from years past along with there only being 4 total events.

The Team events have been released!

The CrossFit Games added a new "flair" to the CrossFit Open announcements this year and gave the winner of each head to head match up got a "golden" barbell from Rogue Fitness.
Chase and Bill sit back and revisit this concept and create a concept that they believe would bring even more excitement and buy in from athletes and fans alike.
There, fixed it!
This year's CrossFit Quarterfinals programming will be the most important and scrutinized programming in the history of the CrossFit Games.
Why, you ask? Two main reasons.
First, the CrossFit Games has not only cut the number of semifinals in half for both Europe and North America from 2022 but they have now cut the numbers of qualifying spots from 60 down to 40 men and women per semifinal.
That is the lowest number of qualifying spots for the most competitive regions in the history of the sport. Which means, your programming but truly find the fittest field of athletes to advance to Semifinals.
That means testing strength, high skilled gymnastics, long aerobic endurance, work capacity and everything in between to filter the field.
Which brings us to reason number two, you have more than doubled the number of athletes in this years quarterfinals and have water down the field more than it's ever been.
So how do you do both? We give you the answer.
Let's play, "King for a Day", one of our favorite games.
Chase and Bill sit back and REVAMP the 2024 CrossFit Open Announcements: Who should have announced them, where they should have been and HOW it could have all been so much more fun if they did it this way...

The news exploded while lives on air.
We talk a swing a miss from Hiller, Mal annouces she's out for another season and what a better warm up really is in CrossFit.
Written by Greg Glassman, Published April 2003
"In commercial gyms everywhere, warming up constitutes little more than spending fifteen or twenty minutes on a bike, treadmill, or stair climber. While better than nothing, this approach to warming up is largely a waste of time in that it will not improve flexibility, does not involve the whole body or major functional movements, misses an ideal opportunity for reinforcing and practicing some critical exercises, and poorly prepares an athlete for rigorous athletic training." - Greg Glassman
The "Service Open" is back! But what is it, why do we have it and where could the future of this competition go? The history of CrossFit and and it's training methodology is rooted deep within our First Responders and Military communities. It was CrossFit that first recognized that these individuals' success in the line of duty and field of war could hinge on their general physical preparedness and potentially be the difference between life and death for themselves and/or others. The "Service Open" is a competitive, tip of the cap, if you will to these brave men and women... but what more could it become?
Written by Greg Glassman, Published March 2003 "It is CrossFit’s contention that cops and soldiers are professional athletes. In fact, we argue that the physical preparedness required of military combat - and by extension law enforcement - matches and regularly surpasses that required of Olympic athletes." - Greg Glassman
Written by Greg Glassman, Published March 2003
"The push-up, long a favorite among junior high school P.E. teachers and Marine Corps drill instructors, is for many, more closely associated with punishment than anything else. Though common to group exercise programs, its use in serious strength and conditioning regimens is infrequent." - Greg Glassman
The 2024 CrossFit Games Open is just around the corner! On this episode of "Mount Rush Moments" Bill and Chase sit down and give their TOP 4 Open Events over the last 13 years.
Written by Greg Glassman, Published 2003
"Our kids and our seniors squat, deadlift, push-press, push-jerk, clean and jerk, snatch, pull-up, dip, push-up, bench press, back/hip extend, sit-up, and rope climb. Less weight, fewer reps, more rest, whatever is required to allow exposure to the movements at a challenging but tolerable and intensity is all that is needed to accommodate most special needs."
We have seen it happen 3 times in the less than 2 years with major events in the CrossFit space. 2022 CrossFit Games, 2023 Rogue Invitational and the 2024 TYR Wodapalooza ALL had a either a massive event change or multiple event changes due to the weather. The question isn't should we move everything indoors... the questions is "How do we program contingency plans to best match the stimulus and movement patterns of the original Event?" Bill and Chase go down the rabbit hole and discuss what to think about, how to preserve and what is okay to change when it comes to changing programming due to weather.
Wodapalooza's team format is one of the best in all of CrossFit and second place is a distant second place. Filled with perennial games individual athletes and fan favorite banding together in Teams of 3, it is truly one of the most fun and popular competitions for fans and athletes alike. But, along with that excitement comes massive expectations and must be matched with good and exciting programming. Bill and Chase sit down and analyze the 2024 TYR Wodpalooza Team Programming.
Rain or shine, the show must go on.
TYR Wodapalooza is the biggest spectacle in the CrossFit space outside of the CrossFit Games. From the Miami Beach vibes, club like atmosphere on the competition floor and to some of the most iconic competition venues you will ever see or compete at.
TYR Wodapalooza, is a destination event. This year there were it's challenges trying to solve the past years seating issues that's and fighting mother nature herself but that is not all that took place that weekend.
Loud and Live's VP of Sports and Entertainment, Dylan Malitsky, joins the show to talk all things TYR Wodapalooza.
The Affiliate Cup isn't what it once was and let's be honest, it never will be again. "Super Teams" have taken over the team competition, the Rich Froning Dynasty is dead, and the excitement of the team competition hasn't been the same since 2017. So what do we do? Well, we do what we do best. WE FIX IT! Chase and Bill sit down and map out an entirely new team competition system to now only bring back the fans of the Teams but the excitement of a TRUE team competition.
It's been a debate that has been going on since CrossFit Affiliates stopped programming for themselves and started outsourcing their programming. The questions is, what is better? And why? The GREAT debate with Bill and Chase will be: Is doing your own programming or giving the responsibility out to someone else the best for your affiliate?
General Manager of CrossFit Dave Castro has kicked off a new series of guest programmers for the Workout of the Day on CrossFit.com. CrossFit has published a Workout of the Day every day since 2001. It has evolved to include scaling options and intended stimulus and is designed to be accessible to everyone — the new CrossFit athlete, the seasoned veteran, and anyone in between.

She put her experience to use and founded Deka Comp, where she’s gone on to program and coach elite athletes, including 2023 Rogue Invitational champion and five-time Games podium finisher Pat Vellner.
Chase and Bill sit back and analyze the programming along side guest programmer Michele Letendre and walk through the potential patterns and processes they leaned on to create their workouts.
It's huge prize purses, stacked athlete fields and one of a kind Event venues and environment from running the Burj Khalifa to the swimming in the ocean next to the worlds only 6 star hotel. Outside of money, athletes and venues the Programming has been a major in the character in the story that is the DFC. The big programming question with Dubai is along with all of this extravagance, there is a power struggle between what they COULD do versus what the SHOULD do. Bill and Chase sit down and analyze the programming of the 2023 Dubai Fitness Championship.
A few weeks ago Chase unveiled his new CrossFit Games season structure to make The Open and Quarterfinals mean more to the athletes and fans alike. Chase, Bill and stats specialist Mike Halpin, redesigned the entire 2023 CrossFit Games Open and Quarterfinals to show you exactly what this could look like going into this next Season.

As King puts it, “At some point in your life, you weren’t afraid to die.
Don’t be afraid to live right now … We all need a challenge and we all need the ability to overcome.”
Chase and Bill sit back and analyze the programming from both of them and walk through the potential patterns and processes they leaned on to create their workouts.
Chase has finally figured it out. He unveils his new system on how to "make The Open great again", how to make Quarterfinals worth signing up for, and how we can finally implement the "Strength of Field" calculation we have all been waiting for.

But there are FAR more deeper discussions to be had about what the increase of qualifiers from The Open means for the Quarterfinals and the CrossFit ecosystem. Bill and Chase go down the rabbit hole of the all the PROS and CONS that will come with the NEW CrossFit Games Quarterfinals format.

Here we go again... the ole Online Qualifier debate. What to program? What NOT to program? Who are we programming for? Who is signed up to compete? Should we care about the overall demographic? Should we care only about the Elites? All the questions. We have all the answers. Listen and Learn.
The Madrid CrossFit Championship is back and as one of the most popular European CrossFit events there is an expectation that it needs to live up to the hype. For the first time since 2017 CrossFit Mayhem did not win the CrossFit Games and since 2015 will not even make the podium at all. At the end of the week it was a 3 horse race with no other team being within 120 points of the podium.
Over the years "team work" events have been lacking at every level of the CrossFit Games season. Was this year at the CrossFit Games any different?

Bill and Chase sit down and analyze the programming to see if this years test provided enough to claim that these two are the "The Fittest on Earth"
It was a unique year, a challenging year and a defining year for both Mat Fraser and Tia Toomey. Mat surpasses Rich Froning with his 5th consecutive CrossFit Games championship with the most dominant performance in history. Meanwhile, Tia Toomey continues to re-write her own History with her 4th consecutive win. The question is now, if the programming is to find the fittest, how do you not look to program against the Fittest to ever walk the planet? Dave Castro broke down HOW he programmed the CrossFit Games, now we sit back and analyzing its effectiveness to find the Fittest on Earth.
It's been called this the "Cardio Games", "The Running Games" or "The Greg Games".... But what about the programming?! Was this REALLY the most controversial and worst test we have ever seen? Or is everyone overreacting because of the emotional rollercoaster that was The "new" Games Season?
Bill and Chase analyze the 2019 Programming, The Cuts and The Scoring and decide if this really was the best test to find "The Fittest on Earth"
2018 brought some of the most unique, exciting, thrilling and jaw dropping tests the CrossFit Games have ever seen. Yet, if you weren't there... you probably haven't seen it because the documentary footage has been locked away. Bill and Chase go back through all the programming and discuss how this Test was different than all the rest to find "The Fittest on Earth".
The circle... circles... is/are complete? But what do they all mean?! Bill Grundler sits down and explains it all for why this is important, why this is exciting but how it could possibly go wrong.

Dave Castro now has a brand new canvas to paint his programming masterpiece. Bill Grundler and Chase Ingraham sit down and analyze "The Test" for 2017 CrossFit Games.
10 Years of the CrossFit Games and it feels like we are just getting started. In the spirit of that the athletes were taken back to the place where this all began and the first day of competition was held at "The Ranch" in Aromas, California. What transpired over the next 5 days is arguably one of the most extensive and full tests of Fitness to date to determine who was going to be crowned the "Fittest on Earth" in 2016.
Bill Grundler and Chase Ingraham sit down with special guest Dan Bailey and discuss this years CrossFit Games and if it truly was an appropriate test to find and claim the "The Fittest on Earth"
2015 will go down as one of the toughest and most controversial CrossFit Games of all time however it didn't all center around the programming. External factors of environment, scoring systems and injuries became a focal point towards the end of the weekend.
But did it overshadow who won?
Special guest Rory McKernan joins the show and brings a his fondest memories and funniest stories to the table.
One of the most unique and challenging years of programming at the CrossFit Games also had some of the greatest drama and stories of the CrossFit Games.

CrossFit Games legend Josh Bridges joins the show as we take look back at the 2013 CrossFit Games.
It keeps getting bigger, better and more unique as the tests of the CrossFit Games continue to challenge the athletes year in and year out.
2013 is heradled by many spectators and athletes alike as one of the best CrossFit Games to date. The events were fun to watch but even more so the spectacle and grandure of the CrossFit Games reach new levels like never before.
The competitive landscape has changed again.. literally. Athletes were taken off site to the now infamous military base "Camp Pendleton" for the first event of the CrossFit Games. The weekend saw a variety of movements and tests never seen tested against a bigger, broader collection of athletes. Bill Grundler and Chase Ingraham determine if all these events stacked up to be a true test to find the "Fittest on Earth".
The CrossFit Games has taken yet another evolutionary leap forward in 2011. Qualifying Regional Events all over the world have been unified sending the best CrossFit Athletes to Carson. ESPN and Reebok have joined the fold bringing in a new World Wide Audience.
The spectacle that is the Sport of Fitness has changed.. but can the Programming keep up?
In 2011, the CrossFit Games Programming was the broadest and most unique collecting of tests we have ever seen up until this point. Along with a new Beach Venue there are added "skill" events to test the Fittest on Earth.
Was it the best Test to date or did we get too cute at the 2011 CrossFit Games? Listen and find out!

What can we ask these athletes to do? Better yet, what are they capable of? Half Ironman? Hyrox event? Wrestling? Ring Wars? Tug-O-war? Unique twist to a classic benchmark?
Ahh Nostalgia. The one thing we love to do is to look back and say how great it once was. Bill and Chase sit down and do exactly that as they list out their TOP 4 things they would like to see come back to the 2023 Nobull CrossFit Games this year.
Chase and Bill sit down and have a roundtable open discussion about the return of Dave Castro the lead to CrossFit Sport department. What does this means for the CrossFit Games? Programming? Off season licensed events? The 2024 Season structure? The future host city of the CrossFit Games?
There, fixed it! Bill and Chase sit down and reprogram the 2023 CrossFit Semifinals. What did they leave in, what did they take out, is it a better overall test with their events? Listen and decide for yourself.

"The template is engineered to allow for a wide and constantly varied stimulus, randomized within some parameters, but still true to the aims and purposes of CrossFit as described in the “What is Fitness?” issue. Our template contains sufficient structure to formalize or define our programming objectives while not setting in stone parameters that must be left to variance if the workouts are going to meet our needs. That is our mission – to ideally blend structure and flexibility." - Greg Glassman
Chase Ingraham sits down and does a "True Review" of Cerus Performance Supplements. Founded by CrossFit Games veteran Jeff Evans, Cerus Performance Supplements was designed to be a healthier option to the usual every and unregulated supplements that stock the shelves today. By utilizing the multitude of proven nootropics, adaptogens, mushrooms, herbs and barks that have been used for generations, we are bridging the gap between performance and health.
It's what we do. We predict, we analyze and then we offer constructive feedback to how the Test could be re-vamped to be a better overall test for the field taking it. Bill and Chase sit down and Re-Program the Tests for the 2023 CrossFit Games Open and individual Quarterfinals.
Statiscally, what is the toughest division to qualify to Semifinals in? The answer may surprise you. Bill and Chase sit down and "Analyze the Programming" of the 2023 Age-Group Quarterfinals. Did the test accomplish the task of filtering for the Top 30 athletes in each division? Did the allow for the majority of the field to participate without being totally shut out? Listen and find out.
The 2023 Team Quarterfinals are done and the Semifinal rosters are just days away from being finalized on the leaderboard. We are at it again! The 2023 CrossFit Quarterfinals floor plans have been released for Teams and Age Group divisions so that means it's prediction time. Bill and Chase sit down and "Predict the Programming" for all 10 events coming up this weekend.
Since the "OG" dates of CrossFit, there has always benchmark tests to see where our Fitness is at. Those tests have been things like, "Helen", "Fran", "Annie", "Grace", "Isabel", and..... "30 ring muscle ups for time"... doesn't quite roll off the tongue now does it?
Well, we are officially petitioning now for a NEW set of "Girl" benchmark tests... centered around the greatest, and near unbeatiable, athlete to ever grace the competition floor when these two movements came out.. SAMANTHA BRIGGS.
"SAMANTHA" For Time - 30 Bar Muscle Ups
'BRIGGS" For Time - 30 Ring Muscle Ups
On top of that, we are taking our "Trophy Case Challenge" to the next GYMNASTICS level and bring you this:

Do you accept the challenge? Then video it, post on youtube, tag us, and we will see if you have what it takes to say "CHALLENGE COMPLETED"
Good Luck, Have Fun!
Are we trying too hard to prove a personal point of view? Are trying too hard to be different? Are we seeing a programmer take over and inadvertently make their tests the story versus the athletes? It's not clear yet, but a picture is coming into focus a little. The question: Is this a good thing? Bill and Chase sit down to talk about ALL things Quarterfinals from the Tests themselves and all the nuances that come with programming to push the boundaries to filter the field to Semifinals while fostering a worldwide community to partcipate as well.

The 2023 TYR Wodapalooza Fitness Festival was a massive event with a new twist. Individuals would compete for 2 days, then 3 person teams would compete the next 2 days. The hope was the encourage athletes to do both. Should the programming be designed to accommodate the athletes who want to do both? Should the programming be fun, exciting but ALSO be a balanced test for Fitness? Our answer is, yes, but did it? Listen and find out.
The debate of "Who is the Fittest" and "Who is the most Athletic" has been going on since the dawn of the CrossFit Games. Hooverball is an old school CrossFit game that actually predates CrossFit itself! In this episode of the Glassman Chipper, Bill and Chase talk about the greatest athletic test for the Fittest on Earth that many have forgotten about.
Only the "OG's" would remember this, Bill and Chase sure do.
Back in the day .com would throw out random fitness challenges they put into their "Trophy Case".
Things like.. 15 Unbroken OHS at Bodyweight, 40 Unbroken Pull Ups, and Vertical Leap 1/2 your Height in inches, just to name a few. Athletes from all over the world would attempt these Fitness feats for the prospect of Glory... and a custom "Pukie" T-Shirt.
We remember... and we are bringing it BACK for 2023. What will the challenges be?

A high volume, robust workout that the common gym goer can accomplish... but what about one that is designed just for CrossFit Games Athletes? Bill and Chase share their, Games Edition of "12 Days of Christmas"
"There are movements that will never make it to your local gym and they include some of the best exercises ever known. There is a collection of them known as “the odd lifts.” It would be foolish to ignore these lifts. It would be even more foolish to approach them with other than extreme caution." - Greg Glassman

The desert sun has set on another Dubai Fitness Championship but first one programmed by Mat Fraser and his team at HWPO. Dubai has always been a power house off season event but over the years the big names have started to dwindle. Did the programming offset the lack of star power with a great test and show for the fans?
Bill and Chase take a deep dive into the Down Under Championships programming for their individual competition. All events, except 1, were a retreads of past CrossFit Regional events. That can be fun.. but also a huge challenge to keep the event a well balance test of fitness without the ability to modify any events in any way. They give insight for other programmers of the issues that come with this format and what steps you should take in the process.
The Masters Fitness Collective is one of the major off season Masters competitions along with the Legends Masters Championships exclusively for Masters athletes. Bill and Chase sit back and analyze the programming as well as discuss how the programming landscape for Masters is evolving over the years.
Coach Glassman:
Gymnasts have no peer in trunk and hip flexion, upper-body strength in multiple joint angles, agility, accuracy, balance, coordination. Their domain is body control.
Weightlifters are masters of power, speed, and hip and leg strength. Powerful hip extension is the most critical element of human performance and none have the capacity of the weightlifters.
Sprinters have enormous physical potential due to their metabolic competency across anaerobic and aerobic pathways and because of the speed, power, and total conditioning that sprinting demands.
Blending workouts from each domain gives us a total greater than the sum of the parts – a gorgeous hybrid.

The Zelos Games was started to bring more earning opportunities to athletes and entertainment to fans. This year there was an in person format for a selected few Individual athletes. When providing earning opportunities there should be a well balanced programming event to be sure all athletes are competing on fair playing field. Chase and Bill look at the programming of the 2022 Zelos Games.
"As the athlete moves from shoulder press, to push press, to push jerk, the importance of core to extremity muscle recruitment is learned and reinforced. This concept alone would justify the practice and training of these lifts." - Greg Glassman

What year is it?! Regionals... Standardized Programming.... YES PLEASE! What else about the new structure of the 2023 CrossFit Games is good for the sport.. bad for the sport? Bill and Chase sit down and everything about the 2023 CrossFit Games Season announcements.
The most powerful forces that can be generated by the human body are initiated, controlled, and dominated by the hip. Unfortunately, in the majority of trainees, some degree of hip dysfunction creates postures and mechanics that reduce power and stability and are generally unsound. The faulty mechanics arise from inadequate training and insufficient practice of critical hip movements. We’ve named this widespread fault “muted hip function” or “MHF.”
For this weeks CrossFit Journal Book Club we take a look at look at 3 workouts that were considered great all around tests of Fitness 20 years ago. We will look at why this was the claim back then and how that claim has changed at the sports and athletes have evolved over the last 2 decades.

Today we visit the Glassman Chipper artcile #08 called the "Squat Clinic". Bill and Chase dive into the long lost art of how important a basic squat can and how being proficient there can translate to improving nearly everything from Fitness to Health.
"Why Squat?
The squat is essential to your well-being. The squat can both greatly improve your athleticism and keep your hips, back, and knees sound and functioning in your senior years.
Not only is the squat not detrimental to the knees it is remarkably rehabilitative of cranky, damaged, or delicate knees.
In fact, if you do not squat, your knees are not healthy regardless of how free of pain or discomfort you are."

Imagine a world where the only definition of fitness was "the ability to transmit genes and being healthy" That was where the fitness industry was at just 20 years ago. In comes Greg Glassman and CrossFit where not only did we define what Fitness was and how our definition changed the way we looked at Health but that definition would someday birth a revolutionary test that set out to find who the "Fittest on Earth" really were.
This year only 10 athletes in every Age Group division qualified for the 2022 NoBull CrossFit Games.. did the programming find the right athletes to stand on top of the podium?
