God’s Word is alive and speaks to every stage of life: childhood, adulthood, and beyond. Through Scripture, God equips all believers, not just pastors, to live out His truth in every season. As we grow together in community, we discover that devotion to Jesus transforms how we live, love, and serve.
It's the start of Community Month here at NMPC! This Sunday we kickoff the month by highlighting our education ministries in family worship, a short message, and a YG video. All are welcome to join!
In these parables, Jesus tells us to count the cost of discipleship. As usual, what Jesus means goes far deeper and accords with reality in ways that surprise us.
This week we continue our series Decoding Devotion. Pastor Kee speaks from Luke 11, "On Prayer."
This week Pastor Kee gives part two of his message "Serious Fruit" which he started last Sunday.
Pastor Kee is back and we continue on with our Decoding Devotion series. In this message, we uncover Jesus' meaning in the passage of the Vine and the Branches found in John 15:1-17.
In a combined "pulpit swap" effort with Vibrance Church, we are joined by a special guest speaker, Joel Kim. We're thrilled to be joined by one of ECO's newest church planters and a special friend to many of us here at New Mercy Palisades Church!
We are blessed to be joined by Pastor Esther Yang. Today's passage looks at a vision Jesus gives to John, showing him the multitude of the 144,00—the ones who have remained faithful to Jesus to the end. This vision informs us not only what is to come, but also how we as believers are called to live in discipleship today. We are reminded that as people who belong to the Lamb, we bear the Name of Jesus, that we have been purchased by His blood, and that we are now called to live in purity and worship.
Paul lists the fruit of the Spirit not as virtues to strive for, but as the natural overflow of a life rooted in the Holy Spirit. The Christian life is not about pursuing fruit in our own strength, but about pursuing God Himself. True spiritual fruit grows not from striving, but from abiding.
Simple devotion is also a single-minded devotion. Learn what that means as we look at the life of Jesus.
Toward the end of Jacob's life, he bestows a blessing onto his sons. Two of those blessings are of note: the blessings to both Joseph and Judah.
Christ's descent into death means there is no place, spiritual, emotional or physical, where God cannot meet us, redeem us, and raise us.
Consumerism remains a dominant force in contemporary society. But what does it look like when it infiltrates the Church? How do we distinguish consumerism from discipleship?

Jesus and the gospel are the standard for all reality. Given that God is the creator of all that is real, all ideas that claim truth will correspond with the teachings of Christ. To guide us through the maze of ideas and claims that is the modern world, it is essential we train our hearts more deeply in the truth of God. Without God's centering truth, we will more easily succum to the mechainations of a world bent on distorting the truth, reality, and love of God.

God is infinitely joyful, and, because we are created in his image, we are made for joy. However, because of sin, we often miss out on joy or we fail to cultivate it. The disicpline of rest (i.e., Sabbath) is a core spiritual discipline. The need for Sabbath rest is built into the fabric of our nature not simply to rejuvenate us physically. It is meant, more fundamentally, to build us up into the creatures that God wants us to be. It is through Sabbath rest that we experience the fullness of God and ourselves.

We leverage the grace in which we stand and use it to propel us into a disciplined life of training toward realizing this goal. This results in our sanctifiction and transformation and fullness and joy.

Fasting is an important spiritual discipline that is profoundly connected to our physical bodies. It is an expressive act connected to prayer and can result in increased self-control, wisdom about how being embodied creatures impacts our lives and relationship with God, deeper identification with others, and breathrough both interally and in world events. A true fast though is concerned first and foremost with the will of God. Those who fast correctly will find their hearts aligning to the purposes of God.

The miracle of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead is remarkable in itself. But we also learn much about how we should approach death by how Jesus reacts before actually performing the miracle. And of course, Jesus' resurrection from the dead has the last word and empowers us to not fear death.

Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. This is one of the most important declarations he makes about himself, namely that Jesus is the person in which we will find the fullness of God himself. It is only through Christ that we have access to the reality of God.

The top priority for disciples of Jesus is to maintain a vital connection to Jesus. Because he is the vine, only by our connection to him will we be fruitful. The vineyard metaphor is replete with important lessons regarding the source and impact of a real, vital discipleship rooted in Christ.

While being labeled as sheep isn't our ideal description, it is apt and speaks of our vulnerabilty in this world. It also speaks to our need for a shepherd who can provide access, rest, and guidance; Jesus proves that he is our good shepherd, even dying to protect us. He simply calls out to us, inviting us to follow him.

We are surrounded by darkness, which threatens to increase with each passing day. But not only did Jesus declare that he is the light of the world, he is mobilizing his people to be the light. While in exile to Babylon, the Israelites long for home. But while in exile, God calls them to faithful living. This faithfulness does not involve violent resistance or full conformity; rather, God calls them to a middle ground -- loving their neighbor and the nation while staying true to God.
