Business Professional Women (BPW) Darwin, is pleased to announce the appointment of its new Committee, to continue the important work to achieve equality at work, on boards and in leadership.
The new committee, led by President Catherine Fairlie, Executive Service Delivery Manager New Chapters New Beginnings, brings a range of skills from the private, public, community and education sector.
Catherine said it is an exciting time for BPW Darwin as we enter this next year with renewed energy for the cause.
“It is an honour to be appointed and I look forward to working with this incredible group of women on a mission – to support and empower.”
“BPW Darwin represents all women, not just leaders and not just the major industries. We are a group of women with the same passion, to ensure women are heard and innovation occurs in the Northern Territory.

BPW Australia is a community of women working to end gender inequity. Our members share an interest in the issues that affect women in Australia.

The new BPW Darwin committee comprises;
President, Catherine Fairlie – extensive experience working in the Disability and education sectors.
Vice President, Membership, Jaya Srinivas OAM –A Director for Engagement and former President of the Multicultural Council of the Northern Territory.
Vice President, Events and Marketing, Rebecca Forrest – an event coordinator with a focus on social justice, anti violence and youth affairs.
Treasurer, Michelle Murphy – Here for a quick trip and never left, Michelle brings with her qualifications, experience and a knack for numbers following a career in mortgage brokering.
Secretary, Colleen Higginson – A Defence officer, Colleen has navigated her way through a challenging career in a male dominated industry at a time when “women were a minority.”
Public Officer, Heather Veal – the former President and long time member of BPW, Heather continues to share her expertise in negotiation, governance and accounting following a successful career in the aviation industry.
Committee Members
Jenny Tiernan – Following more than three decades in the Northern Territory Government, Jenny has extensive stakeholder and international engagement experience as well as an interest in supporting and raising the profile of the disability sector.
Cheryl Wall – Winner of the 2019 NT Telstra Business Woman of the Year for the Public Sector, Cheryl is an Executive Director of Housing, overseeing hundreds of staff.
Annette Gillanders - Having worked and lived in the Northern Territory for thirty years, Annette is the proud owner and operator of Biznorth and founder of the Women’s Plate events, showcasing some of the incredible achievements made by women in our community.
Both Linda Fazldeen AM, Director of Defence and Veterans Engagement and Angela Tomazos, Managing Partner of National Australia Bank will continue to represent and advocate for the Northern Territory on the National Board.
