But first and foremost, church, as we see in Acts chapter 2, should be a place where life change happens! And once we are truly transformed by God, we begin to make an impact for His glory. Church begins to spill out into the streets and an entire city gets impacted.

“Whatever experiences we have we shall not regard them as miraculous if we already hold a philosophy, which excludes the supernatural. Any event which is claimed, as a miracle is, in last resort, an experience received from the senses; and the senses are not infallible. We can always say we have been victims of an illusion; if we disbelieve in the supernatural this is what we always shall say. Hence, whether miracles have really ceased or not, they would certainly appear to cease in Western Europe as materialism (naturalism) became the popular creed.” - C.S. Lewis

AFTER LIFE Questions about Death, Life, Heaven, and Hell

Everyone Lives Forever…Somewhere

There are 6 common views of life after death Naturalist: when you die, you’re done Reincarnation: The ultimate recycling experience Cosmic destiny: Become one with the universe Christian: Faith is the key to heaven and hell Purgatory: The ultimate holding tank Universalist: All roads lead to God.

Ecclesiastes 3:11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.

There is more to life than this life. Your spirit and soul aren't disposable. You are an eternal being. You can't evade responsibility. You have been given a will. You have a choice. As a Christian we know that the decisions we make on earth determine our destiny beyond this.

Hell is real. Jesus taught more about Hell than any other individual because He didn't want people to end up there. God the Father felt the same way; that’s why He gave His Son. Heaven isn't the ultimate pleasure factory. Heaven is about a relationship with God. It is where the will of God is fully manifested. If you don't want a little God down here, why would you want a lot of God up there? All the metaphors about hell are God simply giving people what they want: A life without Him. Outer darkness is a place where His presence is not active. Burning fire is where someone's desires are unimpeded. Weeping and gnashing of teeth means living knowing that those desires will never fulfill you. Hell is about not having a relationship with God.

Hell was never created for man.

Matthew 25:41 Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. Man was always intended to have a relationship with God. But if people persist in wanting a life without God, He lets them have it. Romans 1:24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. he gave them up Romans 1:26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. Romans 1:28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. God the Father will let people have what they want: A life without Him. But He sent His Son so they can have a life with Him.

MESSY MIRACLES

Mark 5:22 Then one of the synagogue leaders, named Jairus, came, and when he saw Jesus, he fell at his feet.

Your RESUME doesn’t matter. Mark 5:22 Then one of the synagogue leaders, named Jairus, came, and when he saw Jesus, he fell at his feet.

Don’t be concerned with how you LOOK. Mark 5:23 He pleaded earnestly with him, “My little daughter is dying. Please come and put your hands on her so that she will be healed and live.”

People you LOVE the most will drive you to prayer. Mark 5:23 He pleaded earnestly with him, “My little daughter is dying. Please come and put your hands on her so that she will be healed and live.”

TIME is never on your side. Mark 5:27…When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak,

Others will CUT in line. Mark 5:27-28 When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, 28 because she thought, “If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.”

There are always OBSTACLES. Mark 5:30 At once Jesus realized that power had gone out from him. He turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who touched my clothes?”

Psalm 107:20 He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from all destruction.

Why does Jesus CARE about everyone else, but not me? Mark 5:33-34 Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet and, trembling with fear, told him the whole truth. 34 He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.” Your faith may be IMPERFECT, but it must be public.

Mark 5:35 While Jesus was still speaking, some people came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue leader. “Your daughter is dead,” they said. “Why bother the teacher anymore?”

There is always more BAD NEWS on the way to a miracle.

Faith ALWAYS: Mark 5:36 Overhearing what they said, Jesus told him, “Don’t be afraid; just believe.”

CHALLENGES facts Mark 5:39 He went in and said to them, “Why all this commotion and wailing? The child is not dead but asleep.”

CHANGES your environment.

Mark 5:40 But they laughed at him. After he put them all out, he took the child’s father and mother and the disciples who were with him, and went in where the child was. Taking her by the hand he said to her, “Talitha cumi,” which means, “Little girl, I say to you, arise.” And immediately the girl got up and began walking (for she was twelve years of age), and they were immediately overcome with amazement.

WHAT FAITH NEEDS

Colossians 1:11 Strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy.

• As a Christian you are a citizen of TWO worlds.

• Faith is the BRIDGE between the two worlds.

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

• Faith takes the blessings of heaven and gives substance to them on earth.

• The period of time between your believing and receiving is when the enemy attacks.

THREE THINGS FAITH NEEDS

  1. Faith requires patience to protect against circumstances.

Hebrews 6:11-12 And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end, 12that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

James 1:2-4 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 4But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.

Romans 5:1-3 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance.

Luke 8:15 But the ones [seeds] that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience.

• Patience comes from the power of God’s presence. • Patience comes from the strength of God’s Word. • Patience gives faith its strength.

  1. Faith needs longsuffering.

Colossians 1:11 Strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy.

Ephesians 4:2 …with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love.

• Longsuffering does with people what patience does with circumstances.

• Longsuffering is the thermostat of the soul. Your emotions are not beyond your control.

• Longsuffering retaliates in love.

  1. Faith needs joy.

1 Peter 1:8…whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory.

Psalm 126:5-6 Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy. 6He who continually goes forth weeping, bearing seed for sowing, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.

• For faith to sustain, joy must prevail.

Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

• Joy is having heaven’s attitude towards life.

John 9:1-7 As he passed by, he saw a man blind from birth. 2 And his disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” 3 Jesus answered, “It was not that this man sinned, or his parents, but that the works of God might be displayed in him. 4 We must work the works of him who sent me while it is day; night is coming, when no one can work. 5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” 6 Having said these things, he spit on the ground and made mud with the saliva. Then he anointed the man's eyes with the mud 7 and said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam”. So he went and washed and came back seeing. 1. The first thing needed in order to trust God in the dark is Faith. “My heroes had the heart to lose their lives out on the limb And all I remember is thinking I want to be like them.”

Hebrews11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

Hebrews 11:1-2 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. 2 For by it the people of old received their commendation. 3 By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.

  1. In order to trust God in the dark we must place ourselves in a position of availability.
  2. In order to trust God in the dark we have to be obedient to his voice.

Hebrews 11:32-38 32 And what more shall I say? For time would fail me to tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets— 33 who through faith conquered kingdoms, enforced justice, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, 34 quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, were made strong out of weakness, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight. 35 Women received back their dead by resurrection. Some were tortured, refusing to accept release, so that they might rise again to a better life. 36 Others suffered mocking and flogging, and even chains and imprisonment. 37 They were stoned, they were sawn in two,[a] they were killed with the sword. They went about in skins of sheep and goats, destitute, afflicted, mistreated— 38 of whom the world was not worthy—wandering about in deserts and mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.

John 9:6-7 6 Having said these things, he spit on the ground and made mud with the saliva. Then he anointed the man's eyes with the mud 7 and said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam”. So he went and washed and came back seeing.

Philippians 2:8 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

A LIFE WITHOUT REGRET

2 Samuel 11:1-27 It happened in the spring of the year, at the time when kings go out to battle, that David sent Joab and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the people of Ammon and besieged Rabbah. But David remained at Jerusalem. 2 Then it happened one evening that David arose from his bed and walked on the roof of the king’s house. And from the roof he saw a woman bathing, and the woman was very beautiful to behold. 3 So David sent and inquired about the woman. And someone said, “Is this not Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?” 4 Then David sent messengers, and took her; and she came to him, and he lay with her, for she was cleansed from her impurity; and she returned to her house. 5 And the woman conceived; so she sent and told David, and said, “I am with child.” 6 Then David sent to Joab, saying, “Send me Uriah the Hittite.” And Joab sent Uriah to David. 7 When Uriah had come to him, David asked how Joab was doing, and how the people were doing, and how the war prospered. 8 And David said to Uriah, “Go down to your house and wash your feet.” So Uriah departed from the king’s house, and a gift of food from the king followed him. 9 But Uriah slept at the door of the king’s house with all the servants of his lord, and did not go down to his house. 10 So when they told David, saying, “Uriah did not go down to his house,” David said to Uriah, “Did you not come from a journey? Why did you not go down to your house?” 11 And Uriah said to David, “The ark and Israel and Judah are dwelling in tents, and my lord Joab and the servants of my lord are encamped in the open fields. Shall I then go to my house to eat and drink, and to lie with my wife? As you live, and as your soul lives, I will not do this thing. 12 Then David said to Uriah, “Wait here today also, and tomorrow I will let you depart.” So Uriah remained in Jerusalem that day and the next. 13 Now when David called him, he ate and drank before him; and he made him drunk. And at evening he went out to lie on his bed with the servants of his lord, but he did not go down to his house. 14 In the morning it happened that David wrote a letter to Joab and sent it by the hand of Uriah. 15 And he wrote in the letter, saying, “Set Uriah in the forefront of the hottest battle, and retreat from him, that he may be struck down and die.” 16 So it was, while Joab besieged the city, that he assigned Uriah to a place where he knew there were valiant men. 17 Then the men of the city came out and fought with Joab. And some of the people of the servants of David fell; and Uriah the Hittite died also. 26 When the wife of Uriah heard that Uriah her husband was dead, she mourned for her husband. 27 And when her mourning was over, David sent and brought her to his house, and she became his wife and bore him a son. But the thing that David had done displeased the LORD.

2 Samuel 12:1-7 Then the LORD sent Nathan to David. And he came to him, and said to him: “There were two men in one city, one rich and the other poor. 2 The rich man had exceedingly many flocks and herds. 3 But the poor man had nothing, except one little ewe lamb which he had bought and nourished; and it grew up together with him and with his children. It ate of his own food and drank from his own cup and lay in his bosom; and it was like a daughter to him. 4 And a traveler came to the rich man, who refused to take from his own flock and from his own herd to prepare one for the wayfaring man who had come to him; but he took the poor man’s lamb and prepared it for the man who had come to him.” 5 So David’s anger was greatly aroused against the man, and he said to Nathan, “As the LORD lives, the man who has done this shall surely die! 6 And he shall restore fourfold for the lamb, because he did this thing and because he had no pity.” 7 Then Nathan said to David, “You are the man!

  1. GUILT can be a GOOD thing.

2 Corinthians 7:8-10 For even if I made you grieve with my letter, I do not regret it—though I did regret it, for I see that that letter grieved you, though only for a while. 9 As it is, I rejoice, not because you were grieved, but because you were grieved into repenting. For you felt a godly grief, so that you suffered no loss through us. 10 For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas worldly grief produces death.

  1. REPENTANCE is ALWAYS a good thing. Mark 6:12 So they went out and proclaimed that people should repent. Acts 3:19-20 Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out, 20 that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus, “times of refreshing may come from the LORD!

 Repentance is the funnel through which GRACE and MERCY flows.  Repentance is two-fold: It’s an internal change of mind that leads to external change of living.

Amos 5:23-24 “I hate, I despise your feast days, And I do not savor your sacred assemblies. 22 Though you offer Me burnt offerings and your grain offerings, I will not accept them,
Nor will I regard your fattened peace offerings. 23 Take away from Me the noise of your songs, For I will not hear the melody of your stringed

instruments. 24 But let justice run down like water, And righteousness like a mighty stream. Matt 23:25 Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self- indulgence. Matt 23:27 "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of dead men's bones and everything unclean.

  1. Repentance and guilt are NOT THE SAME THING. 1 Timothy 1:12-16 I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me faithful, appointing me to his service. 13 Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief. 14 The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. 15 Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. 16 But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life.

A Few WORLDLY Remedies for Guilt:  LEARN from your MISTAKES and grow.  Turn up the noise to DROWN OUT your guilt.  Deny your guilt exists and DIVE FURTHER into that which is causing the guilt.  Just BLAME others.

Col 2:6 Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, 1 John 1:9 “If we CONFESS our sin God is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us of all unrighteousness. 2 Tim 2:25 correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth, Acts 26:20 …that they should repent and turn to God, performing deeds in keeping with their repentance.

Luke 3:8 Bear fruits in keeping with repentance. Revelation 3:19-20 Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent. 20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come into him and eat with him, and he with me.

MAKING THE MOST OF THIS YEAR – 2 Matthew 25:14-30 2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil. 1. EVERYTHING belongs to God. Matt.25:14 For it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted to them his property

  1. God has GIVEN each of us TALENTS.

Matt. 25:15 To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one, to each according to his ability. Then he went away Romans 12:6 In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you.

  1. God EXPECTS us to USE what we have been given for Him.

Matt. 25:16-19 He who had received the five talents went at once and traded with them, and he made five talents more. 17 So also he who had the two talents made two talents more. 18 But he who had received the one talent went and dug in the ground and hid his master's money. 19 Now after a long time the master of those servants came and settled accounts with them. 2 Corinthians 5:10-11a For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.

  1. A wrong VIEW of God keeps us from using our TALENTS.

Matt. 25:20-24 And he who had received the five talents came forward, bringing five talents more, saying, ‘Master, you delivered to me five talents; here I have made five talents more.’ 21 His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’ 22 And he also who had the two talents came forward, saying, ‘Master, you delivered to me two talents; here I have made two talents more.’ 23 His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’ 24 He also who had received the one talent came forward, saying, ‘Master, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you scattered no seed,

  1. If we don’t USE our talents we LOSE them.

Matt 25:25-28 so I was afraid, and I went and hid your talent in the ground. Here you have what is yours.’ 26 But his master answered him, ‘You wicked and slothful servant! You knew that I reap where I have not sown and gather where I scattered no seed? 27 Then you ought to have invested my money with the bankers, and at my coming I should have received what was my own with interest. 28 So take the talent from him and give it to him who has the ten talents.

  1. If we use our talents WISELY, we will be REWARDED.

Matt 25:21,23

(Hebrews 12:1) Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. (Hebrews 11:23-29) By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden for three months by his parents, because they saw that the child was beautiful, and they were not afraid of the king's edict. 24 By faith Moses, when he was grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter, 25 choosing rather to be mistreated with the people of God than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin. 26 He considered the reproach of Christ greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, for he was looking to the reward.27 By faith he left Egypt, not being afraid of the anger of the king, for he endured as seeing him who is invisible. 28 By faith he kept the Passover and sprinkled the blood, so that the Destroyer of the firstborn might not touch them. 29 By faith the people crossed the Red Sea as on dry land, but the Egyptians, when they attempted to do the same, were drowned.

“God can make a way where there seems to be no way.” (Exodus 14:10) “When Pharaoh drew near, the people of Israel lifted up their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians were marching after them, and they feared greatly. And the people of Israel cried out to the LORD.”

(Exodus 14:11-12) They said to Moses, “Is it because there are no graves in Egypt that you have taken us away to die in the wilderness? What have you done to us in bringing us out of Egypt? 12 Is not this what we said to you in Egypt: ‘Leave us alone that we may serve the Egyptians’? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the wilderness.”

1.Fix your focus on the right thing.

(Exodus 14:13) And Moses said to the people, “Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will work for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again.

(Exodus 14:14) The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.”

  1. Remember God is faithful even when we are not.

(Romans 5:8) but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

(Exodus 14:15) The Lord said to Moses, “Why do you cry to me? Tell the people of Israel to go forward.

  1. Walk in the freedom you’ve already been given.

Final Thought: The Lord will fight your battles, but the battle has already been won.

BRANDED – 9 The Mark of a Disciple

9 Mark of a Disciple: Lives Generously

Exodus 35:4-5, 20-22 Moses said to all the congregation of the people of Israel, “This is the thing that the Lord has commanded. 5 Take from among you a contribution to the Lord. Whoever is of a generous heart, let him bring the Lord's contribution… 20 Then all the congregation of the people of Israel departed from the presence of Moses. 21 And they came, everyone whose heart stirred him, and everyone whose spirit moved him, and brought the Lord's contribution to be used for the tent of meeting, and for all its service, and for the holy garments. 22 So they came, both men and women. All who were of a willing heart brought brooches and earrings and signet rings and armlets, all sorts of gold objects, every man dedicating an offering of gold to the Lord. 1. The MOTIVE of generosity. Romans 5:20 Now the law came in to increase the trespass, but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, 2. The METRICS of generosity. 2 Corinthians 9:7 Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

  1. The METHODS of generosity.

· STRATEGIC generosity. 1 Corinthians 16:2: “On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with his income.”

Galatians 6:10 So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.

· SPONTANEOUS generosity.

Acts 4:34-35 There was not a needy person among them, for as many as were owners of lands or houses sold them and brought the proceeds of what was sold 35 and laid it at the apostles' feet, and it was distributed to each as any had need.

· SECRET generosity.

Matthew 6:3-4 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

· SACRIFICIAL generosity

2 Corinthians 8:1-7 We want you to know, brothers, about the grace of God that has been given among the churches of Macedonia, 2 for in a severe test of affliction, their abundance of joy and their extreme poverty have overflowed in a wealth of generosity on their part. 3 For they gave according to their means, as I can testify, and beyond their means, of their own accord, 4 begging us earnestly for the favor of taking part in the relief of the saints— 5 and this, not as we expected, but they gave themselves first to the Lord and then by the will of God to us. 6 Accordingly, we urged Titus that as he had started, so he should complete among you this act of grace. 7 But as you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in all earnestness, and in our love for you—see that you excel in this act of grace also.

Exodus 36:3-7 "And they received from Moses all the contribution that the people of Israel had brought for doing the work on the sanctuary. They still kept bringing him freewill offerings every morning, so that all the craftsmen who were doing every sort of task on the sanctuary came, each from the task that he was doing, and said to Moses, 'The people bring much more than enough for doing the work that the LORD has commanded us to do.' So Moses gave command, and word was proclaimed throughout the camp, 'Let no man or woman do anything more for the contribution for the sanctuary.' So the people were restrained from bringing, for the material they had was sufficient to do all the work, and more." "They love one another, and he who has gives to him who has not without boasting. And when they see a stranger, they take him into their homes and rejoice over him as a very brother. And if there is among them any that are poor and needy, and if they have no spare food, they fast two or three days in order to supply to the needy their lack of food. Such, O king, is their manner of life, and, verily, this is a new people, and there is something divine in the midst of them."

Carols of Christmas – 1 Joy to the World

(Psalm 98:4-9 ESV) Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth; break forth into joyous song and sing praises! 5 Sing praises to the Lord with the lyre, with the lyre and the sound of melody! 6 With trumpets and the sound of the horn make a joyful noise before the King, the Lord! 7 Let the sea roar, and all that fills it; the world and those who dwell in it! 8 Let the rivers clap their hands; let the hills sing for joy together 9 before the Lord, for he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with equity.

Is it still possible to sing Joy To The World?

  1. Christmas is that God became man!

(John 1:14) The Word became flesh and took up residence among us.

(Colossians 2:9) For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily,

(Colossians 1:19) For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell,

(Luke 2:18) And all who heard it wondered at what the shepherds told them.

Slide: Let earth receive her king; Let every heart prepare him room, And heaven and nature sing,”

Slide: He comes to make his blessings flow Far as the curse is found, Far as the curse is found, Far as, far as, the curse is found.

  1. In Christ pain and sin will never have the last word.

(Revelation 21:2-4) And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. 4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”

(2 Corinthians 4:16) Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day.

  1. Jesus became like us so that we could be like Him.

(Hebrews 1:3-4) He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, 4 having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.

Slide: He comes to make His blessings flow.

  1. The Lord Jesus Christ came to reveal God to us.

(Psalm 98:8-9) Let the rivers clap their hands; let the hills sing for joy together 9 before the Lord, for he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with equity.

(Colossians 1:15) He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.

Slide: “No more let sins and sorrows grow, Nor thorns infest the ground; He comes to make his blessings flow Far as the curse is found,”

Slide: He rules the world with truth and grace, And makes the nations prove The glories of his righteousness, And wonders of his love, And wonders of his love, And wonders, wonders, of his love.

LOVE IN EVERY SEASON – 2

Song of Songs 1:1-3 Solomon's Song of Songs. Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth-- for your love is more delightful than wine. Pleasing is the fragrance of your perfumes; your name is like perfume poured out. No wonder the maidens love you!

Ecclesiastes 3:1 There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven…

BEFORE MARRIAGE

1) A SEASON OF PREPARATION.

Song of Songs 2:11-12 See! The winter is past; the rains are over and gone. Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come, the cooing of doves is heard in our land.

• Winter is the season of preparation.

• Don’t rush into spring prematurely.

2) A SEASON OF PERFECTION.

Song of Songs 2:8-10 Listen! My lover! Look! Here he comes, leaping across the mountains, bounding over the hills. My lover is like a gazelle or a young stag. Look! There he stands behind our wall, gazing through the windows, peering through the lattice. My lover spoke and said to me, "Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, and come with me.

During this season, limit: • Your time. • Your talk. • Your touch.

3) A SEASON OF DISCOVERY.

Song of Songs 2:14 My dove in the clefts of the rock, in the hiding places on the mountainside, show me your face, let me hear your voice; for your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely.

Talk about your: • Past • Plans

4) IN ALL SEASONS, PROTECT YOUR PURITY.

Song of Songs 2:15 Catch for us the foxes, the little foxes that ruin the vineyards, our vineyards that are in bloom.

Practical Tips For Guarding Purity: • Inform others of your limits. • Keep four on the floor.

Ephesians 5:3 But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality…

Song of Songs 3:5 Daughters of Jerusalem, I charge you by the gazelles and by the does of the field: Do not arouse or awaken love until it so desires.

• Men, lead the way: you are the pastor, provider and protector.

Sermon Notes:

LOVE IN EVERY SEASON Part 1 – The Art of Attraction

Attraction – Chapter 1:1-2:7 Dating – Chapter 2:8-3:5 Intimacy – Chapter 3:6-5:1 Conflict – Chapter 5:2-6:13 Deepening – Chapter 7:1-8:14 Faithfulness – Chapter 8:5-8:14

Song of Songs 1:1-4 Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth-- for your love is more delightful than wine. Pleasing is the fragrance of your perfumes; your name is like perfume poured out No wonder the maidens love you!

THE ART OF ATTRACTION

Song of Songs 1:4-6 How right they are to adore you! 5 Dark am I, yet lovely, daughters of Jerusalem, dark like the tents of Kedar, like the tent curtains of Solomon. My mother’s sons were angry with me and made me take care of the vineyards; my own vineyard I had to neglect.

Song of Songs 1:7 Tell me, you whom I love, where you graze your flock and where you rest your sheep at midday. Why should I be like a veiled woman beside the flocks of your friends?

  1. Spiritual attraction. • Loves and honors God. • Connected to your God-given purpose. • Has godly standards.

Song of Songs 1:9-14 I liken you, my darling, to a mare harnessed to one of the chariots of Pharaoh. Your cheeks are beautiful with earrings, your neck with strings of jewels. We will make you earrings of gold, studded with silver. While the king was at his table, my perfume spread its fragrance. My lover is to me a sachet of myrrh resting between my breasts. My lover is to me a cluster of henna blossoms from the vineyards of En Gedi.

  1. Emotional attraction. • A friend. • Get rid of harsh words • Take captive every thought.

Song of Songs 1:15-17 How beautiful you are, my darling! Oh, how beautiful! Your eyes are doves. How handsome you are, my lover! Oh, how charming! And our bed is verdant. The beams of our house are cedars; our rafters are firs.

  1. Physical attraction. Song of Songs 2:1-2 I am a rose of Sharon, a lily of the valleys. 2 Like a lily among thorns is my darling among the young women.

Song of Songs 2:5-6 Strengthen me with raisins refresh me with apples, for I am faint with love. 6 His left arm is under my head, and his right arm embraces me.

Song of Songs 2:7 Daughters of Jerusalem, I charge you by the gazelles and by the does of the field: Do not arouse or awaken love until it so desires.
