King David understood one thing that we can all learn from in this portion of scripture. Even though it seemed that all had been lost, wives and kids kidnapped, city burned to the ground etc… he enquired of the lord of what he should do next, he didn’t allow the present circumstances to get him stuck in the “why?” This traumatic event had befallen them. I believe there is a lesson in this for all of us. Rather then allowing the bad things that take place in life to pull us into the abyss of depression like many others have, we can stop and slow things down and pray our way out and into the answer god has for us.
