It would probably be way better marketing to title this, “the hell show” but truth be told, I’m not sure I want this podcast to get out there. Mainly because I’m not entirely certain about everything I’ve said. I grew up in the church and on the mission field with decades of certainty in the orthodox doctrine of the afterlife and the plain and simple formula we all grew up with to say the sinner’s prayer and thus “make sure” and “know that you know” where you’re going to spend eternity. But when you discover that there are four separate words in the Bible all translated as the singular word, hell, it raises some questions that can lead to doubts. Doubt will tear your faith down. But faith is actually the opposite of certainty, and because I want to actually strengthen my faith, I have questions. I’m a middle aged minister with decades of experience and education and I still have questions. Don’t you? Or do you have this all figured out? Have you ever noticed that when we want God to answer our questions, instead sometimes he questions our answers? This specific podcast may be dangerous to your certainty, but I hope and pray that it enhances your intimacy with God. After all, it’s in that place close to his heart where you find all the right answers to all the right questions.
