Mike was a classmate of Riz & Dawg at Fordham University, and the trio spent time on the air together at the great WFUV back in the day. Dawg got things going with Veteran of the Day. It was SFC Leigh Hester, the first woman Soldier to receive the Silver Star for combat valor. As a team leader for her MP Company in the Kentucky Army National Guard, she deployed to Iraq in 2005. When her convoy was attacked, she led the counterattack that saved the convoy, killing numerous enemy combatants and saving everyone in her unit.
