Salt is not only a seasoning but a disinfectant. It destroys bacteria, and is therefore used as a purifier and preservative. When Jesus talks about salt he’s talking about total commitment, disinfected of sin’s impurities. But don’t miss this: it all started with salt added to sacrifices, and the greatest sacrifice of all.
