"Giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity."#Growth
True love comes from Jesus.
Unbiased
Unprejudiced
Ungendered
Just real complete all-encompassing love.
Do you know Jesus as your Saviour? It is the most important decision you could ever make. Please listen to this message explaining from the Bible how to go to heaven.
"I am thy servant; give me understanding, that I may know thy testimonies. It is time for thee, LORD, to work:"
Guys... God's Word is just so Powerful and it's astounding how we can continue to be strengthened through it day by day!!! Look with us at Hebrews 10 as we take a real look at living by faith in Jesus!
We have God's Word! Our adult Sunday School class is going through doctrines of the Bible and this lesson is the first in a series on the doctrine of the Bible, as taught by Bro. John McNett. Please listen in and be encouraged to know that we not only have God's Book, but He can speak to us daily through His Word!
As a church body, if we are Following Jesus & Focusing on Jesus- we WILL find Jesus!
The disciples STAYED in Fellowship with Jesus, even when others walked away. John 6
In One Accord = Bound Together
Yet we are given Diverse Gifts Eph. 4:7-13
Wednesday Evening Bible Study through the book of Judges. The first judge was Othniel, nephew of Caleb.
When we see someone who has possibly turned from God we must NEVER treat them harshly or judge them from our perspective. We have NO IDEA what brought them to their circumstance. Yes, it could have been their choice to partake in harmful sin. But it also could have been the result of someone else's sin which harmed them through physical, emotional, spiritual, or sexual abuse. Or they could be struggling from the tragedy of heartache or loss. Regardless of the REASON- Jesus is our REMEDY.
Are you afraid to have your understanding challenged? There are a few stories from the Bible that have been taught wrong so many times that we are afraid to take them as they are found in God's Word. The story of Deborah is a perfect example. She was a prophetess. She was a judge. She was never condemned for either of those roles in Scripture. God has used women over and over to speak for Him and do His will. We must ALL learn from them and follow their example as they followed God. This is not a gender story. This is a Godly person OBEYING GOD.
Let us lay aside the WEIGHTS of this world and walk at LIBERTY following Christ!! For He is Glorious!
Matthew 5: Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Each Sunday morning we have been studying the 5 crowns mentioned. This message is about the crown of rejoicing for those who have shared the gospel and brought souls to Christ.
Continuing on through the book of I Timothy on Wednesday evening Bible study. This lesson begins in chapter 4.
Christians are to express God's love through our lives, but we must realize that the love first comes from God. It is from Him. It is through Him. It is because of Him!
Would you know a good church if you saw it???
As Christians, we are commanded by God's Word to purify ourselves, love one another, and serve the Lord in sincerity.
I Timothy 3 gives guidelines to pastors and deacons in the church. In this study, we go verse by verse through the whole chapter.
Sunday Morning Message
JOY UNSPEAKABLE!
We can have Joy in knowing we have a
Heavenly Father
Heavenly Faith
Heavenly Future
We can learn a lot about patience from the life of Job. The Bible has many examples given to us to learn from. Let's take advantage of that by studying these Bible characters!
This lesson is from John McNett in the adult Sunday School.
Proverbs 28:13 “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.”
Confession Brings Victory!
What is the proper place of a woman? Can she make decisions in the home without consulting her husband? Can she pastor a church? What is her role?
“And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not stedfast with God.”
Psalms 78:8
“That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the LORD:”
Isaiah 30:9
“But this people hath a revolting and a rebellious heart; they are revolted and gone.”
Jeremiah 5:23
We're pretty sure that everyone at Heritage would agree that Kid's Day is about the best Sunday of the year!!! But this year just seemed Extra Special!!! The children all did a great job helping out in the service and we pray that each one remembers something that was shared from God's Word!
"I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting. In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works." I Timothy 2:8-10
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time. Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity. I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting. I Timothy 2:1-8
Phebe Romans 16:1,2 "I commend unto you Phebe our sister, which is a servant of the church which is at Cenchrea: That ye receive her in the Lord, as becometh saints, and that ye assist her in whatsoever business she hath need of you: for she hath been a succourer of many, and of myself also."
Romans 8:14-16; Colossians 3:24; I Thess. 1:9; Galations 5:13
Are you in a good church???

Our God is Faithful! He can get us through times of Sorrow! Lesson from Lamentations by Bro. John.
God answers our prayers, supplies our needs, and picks us up when we've fallen. He is Faithful!
What are the signs of a "good church?"
Matthew 16; Eph. 3:21; Rom. 4:25, etc.,
Week one
"And said unto them, Sirs, I perceive that this voyage will be with hurt and much damage, not only of the lading and ship, but also of our lives. Nevertheless the centurion believed the master and the owner of the ship, more than those things which were spoken by Paul. And because the haven was not commodious to winter in, the more part advised to depart thence also, if by any means they might attain to Phenice, and there to winter; which is an haven of Crete, and lieth toward the south west and north west. And when the south wind blew softly, supposing that they had obtained their purpose, loosing thence, they sailed close by Crete. But not long after there arose against it a tempestuous wind, called Euroclydon. And when the ship was caught, and could not bear up into the wind, we let her drive. And running under a certain island which is called Clauda, we had much work to come by the boat: Which when they had taken up, they used helps, undergirding the ship; and, fearing lest they should fall into the quicksands, strake sail, and so were driven. And we being exceedingly tossed with a tempest, the next day they lightened the ship; And the third day we cast out with our own hands the tackling of the ship. And when neither sun nor stars in many days appeared, and no small tempest lay on us, all hope that we should be saved was then taken away. But after long abstinence Paul stood forth in the midst of them, and said, Sirs, ye should have hearkened unto me, and not have loosed from Crete, and to have gained this harm and loss. And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man's life among you, but of the ship. For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve, Saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee. Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me." ACTS 27:10-25
I Timothy Week 1
"Unto Timothy, my own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord. As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine, Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do."
EVERMORE!
What's the key to following the Lord?
Don't stop!!
Keep following! Keep praying! Keep listening! Keep obeying!
This week we read word for word a "gospel" tract produced by the Mennonite Society. Surprisingly... it gets halfway through the gospel and then just s.t.o.p.s. Listen here or watch for yourself on our YouTube video where you can see the tract itself.
Father's Day Message titled "Father Abraham"
This was preached on Father's Day but applies to every child of God.
This week we dealt with the topic of color. God created all of mankind in HIS IMAGE and we did our best to address this sensitive topic. Please listen with grace as we strive to be always learning, growing, and reaching all people with the GOSPEL!
TEENAGERS!!! God has a PLAN for you!!!
Parents & Adults!! Let's do OUR PART to encourage & equip the next GENERATION!!!
Adult Sunday School lessons about people in the Bible. This week's lesson was teaching about Nehemiah, an Old Testament prophet, taught by Bro. John.
"Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego; these men, O king, have not regarded thee: they serve not thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up."
"From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him. Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away? Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life." John 6:66-68
God can use any circumstance in our life for good. We might not understand what is going on... but we can trust in Him!
We serve a God of Joy- but we also serve a God of JUDGEMENT. There is a balance. LISTEN HERE:
Psalms 16:11
“Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.”
Zephaniah 3:17 "The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing."
But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. Luke 6
Since this is only the audio, we will let you in on a little secret!! For this lesson or handout was a sheet of white paper. So, grab your paper and pen and get ready for a great lesson!!
“Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.” Rev. 1:7
The Appointed Ages... as we grow through life we pass through seasons. But as each new season comes- let's make sure we are growing towards the Lord!
God's Grace is Abundant! Abounding! and Available!
(This message was recorded outdoors so it will have a different sound.)
Numbers 12:7-10 "My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house. With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the LORD shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses? And the anger of the LORD was kindled against them; and he departed. And the cloud departed from off the tabernacle; and, behold, Miriam became leprous, white as snow: and Aaron looked upon Miriam, and, behold, she was leprous."
"Shall not the day of the LORD be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?" Amos 5:20
Bro. John led the adult Sunday School class one by one through the 12 Apostles. The first chosen was Andrew. Though often in the shadows- he led many to Jesus!!
Here is another lesson as we study through Philippians... so much to learn from this book in teaching us how to live with joy through this life of trials.
We have HOPE! The Bible says that Charity... "Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things." We have HOPE in our Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour!
This message was from August 2019- the Sunday after our first daughter's wedding. It's been a wonderful experience to see God work in not only our life but through the next generation as well. And trusting that as we continue to follow His ways, He will continue to lead and direct future generations.
This Sunday School lesson is an introduction to the 12 apostles. Who were they? What were the requirements? What did they do? In following lessons- we will learn about them each one by one.
Contentment Amidst Crisis: A Spiritual Resting Place
Philippians 4:9 "Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you."
The 2 Most Important Things: 1. Knowing God 2. Being nearer to Him "And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:" Philippians 3:9
"Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:...So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him;"
Genesis 12:1-4
Due to our nation's 15 Days to Slow the Spread, we have canceled our live gatherings at Heritage Baptist Church. This week Pastor Paul gives us a message on facing our uncertain future in FAITH, as we trust God and follow Him day by day! Just like Esther and the people of God during their difficult times and circumstance, we can by faith trust in God's leading through our difficult times as the world faces this COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic. Please be praying for each other, our leaders, our country, the world, and all who are infected by this virus, as well as the day to day struggles many are facing.
Contentment comes through our being grateful and thankful. We will never be content while also being unthankful.
Deuteronomy 13:4
“Ye shall walk after the LORD your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him.”
Sin will not take hold of you- unless you take hold of sin.
Keep your heart and eyes on Jesus! Long before we reach out to sin- we are thinking about it, looking upon it, and lusting after it.
Like Zerubbabel- we all have a part to do. Zerubbabel was the son of a king- yet he never became king. That did not stop him from doing his part in the work of God!! www.heritageyork.com
O Taste and See the Goodness of God!!!! This world does not satisfy... but our Saviour does. ---Such a good reminder of His goodness from Brother John in this Wednesday evening message!
Who Was Jesus?
This is the most important question you can ask.
He is more than just a religious man- He is our Saviour!
"But I trust in the Lord that I also myself shall come shortly. Yet I supposed it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, and companion in labour, and fellowsoldier, but your messenger, and he that ministered to my wants. For he longed after you all, and was full of heaviness, because that ye had heard that he had been sick. For indeed he was sick nigh unto death: but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow. I sent him therefore the more carefully, that, when ye see him again, ye may rejoice, and that I may be the less sorrowful. Receive him therefore in the Lord with all gladness; and hold such in reputation: Because for the work of Christ he was nigh unto death, not regarding his life, to supply your lack of service toward me." Philippians 2:24-30
Do you apply the godly teachings of the Bible to your relationship with your spouse? It is so easy for us to talk about the Christian life... but are we truly applying Christian characteristics in our daily walk and talk with our husband/wife?
I Thessalonians 5 says, "See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men. Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing."
Exodus 19:4
“Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles' wings, and brought you unto myself.”
See how our great God takes care of us!!
We all know our pastor LOVES a good object lesson... but this Sunday just took that to a whole new level!! It was great seeing everyone get involved in our interactive lesson on the church... and it really could not have been presented in a more easy-to-understand fashion. Even though this was a visual message with a lot of audience interaction- we've got a pretty decent audio edited for your listening.
It is so vital that we realize the "church" is not just every saved person wandering aimlessly about this life. It is a place where people assemble together to hear God's Word preached and taught as we listen, learn, and apply.
Sometimes the bitterness that needs to be addressed is the bitterness we can hold against ourselves when we are ashamed of what we have done or how we have acted towards others. Be kind to yourself. Let God's forgiveness do a work in yourself.
Think on good things!! "Christians [preachers] have gone over the line sometimes in calling out sin and spending too much time and then what someone begins to think about is the sin instead of the remedy for that sin."
"And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. " 2 Corinthians 12:9
If you have been bogged down with the cares of this world... please take 30 minutes and listen to this message.
God's grace IS SUFFICIENT for us. This world can be a hard place... but GOD IS ENOUGH. We must find our REST in Him!
Is it possible for a Christian to put other things before God?
Sure is... listen here as we go through the First Commandment.
This lesson is our introduction to the Ten Commandments. In this day of grace- the Commandments are often scoffed at as being under the law, yet, the New Testament refers to the Commandments as our schoolmaster to bring us to Christ!
Friend, do not be afraid to acknowledge the areas where we in the church have been taught man's ways... always looking for an outward appearance of growth. Stand firm on God's Word and His message of Salvation! We must seek to follow the WHOLE councel of God.
Is your home "exceptional?" It can be!
"Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.
It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.
Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.
Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate." Psalm 127
Jesus Himself said, "A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another." John 13:34,35
.
Don't get so caught up in "being right" that you aren't being "LOVING." Remember which one is a direct commandment from our Saviour! Are you known by your love?
Aquila and Priscilla... an example of a selfless husband and a selfless wife serving God side by side! Together, having the Right Attitude, the Right Love, and the Right Patience!
Bro. John shares a wonderful message from God's Word as we look at the times in the lives of Saul | Jacob | and Job as they were touched by the hand of God. May you be strengthened to do HIS WILL and may God be GLORIFIED in your life!
To "rejoice" is to have joy again and again! Follow along as we Journey Into Joy through the study of Philippians!
Do you truly understand Christianity? What is it all about? Rules? Laws? Legalism? Who and what do you look to for wisdom?
Wisdom from above is pure... but be careful who you look to on this earth. This world is so full of vanity. The wisdom of this world, even sometimes under the pretense of doctrine, is vanity.
This is a Wednesday evening message given by a brother in our church. We praise the Lord for His Word and the wisdom He will give each one who will seek Him. Thank you, Brother Jake, for filling the pulpit and sharing this most important message for us all to consider: "Wisdom & Vanity."
This week we look at the servant aspect of our Saviour. Listen along- or turn to Philippians to follow along in our study.
Why do so few finish the course God has set before them? Satan's desire is that we do not finish. But do not be deceived or discouraged... though you will fall- you can still finish your course when you lean upon the Lord!
We all want to win, don't we? Let's not forget the most important battle is living our lives following God day by day. II Peter warns us to redeem our time. Let's not waste away our precious moments wandering around this world. Stand strong and stay on the course God has for you!
After experiencing great victory on Mt. Sinai, Elijah felt like he was alone in his stand for the Lord. He wasn't. And neither are you!
Often, man rejects God. Yet our longsuffering and merciful God still stands ready to save. Trust Him today. Receive Him as your Saviour! For one day- it will be eternally too late.

Recently we had the privilege of having Evangelist Jack Haines with us to share his testimony and preach on a Sunday Morning. Both messages can be found at www.heritageyork.com
What do we do when we just don't know what to do? Look | Listen | & Let God Lead!
Life and salvation testimony of Jack Haines. Saved at 37 years old, Bro. Jack began serving under Dr. Shelton Smith at Church of the Open Door in Westminster, MD. Went on to pastor and serve full time for many years. He has been widowed after 58 years of marriage, and is currently a newlyed (on his second marriage) and is serving in evangelism and pulpit supply at 80 years of age.
Prayer is more than just us talking to God. Prayer also involves us listening to Him. God wants us to see what He desires in our lives. Prayer takes effort, time, and energy- but we cannot live a successful Christian life without it!
Commandment 5: "Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee." Exodus 20:12
"And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee." Psalm 9:10
Do you know the Lord? Do you place your trust in Him and depend upon Him at all times? Good and Bad?
How do so many seem to fall into adultery? Like Lot- they LOOK & LINGER... we must SEE & FLEE like Joseph did when Potipher's wife came after him! Listen to the end for 3 guaranteed tips on avoiding adultery in your marriage.
"Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver." 2 Corinthians 9:7 For a full message on tithes and offerings search our archives for the title "First and Best" from May of 2016.
We were so grateful to be invited to preach at Lebanon Independent Baptist Church for their Fall Revival Meeting! Thank you to Pastor Heller and the congregation, as well as those who attended. We hope this message is a continued blessing to those who listen online. It is so vital that we see the Goodness of God in our life to live as a confident Christian in today's world!
Don't be discouraged when you fall. It will happen. God can give you the strength to rise again!
"Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:" Isaiah 40:30
John 14:1-3 "Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also."
"And whoso falleth not down and worshippeth, that he should be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace. There are certain Jews whom thou hast set over the affairs of the province of Babylon, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego; these men, O king, have not regarded thee: they serve not thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up. Then Nebuchadnezzar in his rage and fury commanded to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Then they brought these men before the king."
There are many times in life when we cannot see the goodness of God. We may not see His plan or understand His ways. But we must trust that He is good.
"And the people spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, neither is there any water; and our soul loatheth this light bread. And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died." Numbers 21
I Kings 13:7,8 "And the king said unto the man of God, Come home with me, and refresh thyself, and I will give thee a reward. And the man of God said unto the king, If thou wilt give me half thine house, I will not go in with thee, neither will I eat bread nor drink water in this place:"
Men, women, boys, and girls alike can be encouraged and inspired as we dive verse by verse through Proverbs 31. This woman is passionate, hard-working, industrious, loving, and kind. We could all use a Proverbs 31 woman in our life!
Hebrews 12:1,2 "Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God."
God uses a variety of people to fulfill His plans and His purpose. We can learn from each faithful servant of Him.
Why does our church take communion? Learn here what the New Testament teaches about the Lord's Supper.
The Christian life should be a life of forgiveness, modeled after the Lord's forgiveness to us.
Rahab found a faith that saved! Did you know that even though Rahab was a harlot before coming to the Lord, she is found in the lineage of Jesus? Jesus forgives and gives a new life!
Do we take the Lord's house as seriously as He does? Is church as high on our priority list as it is on God's? Let us consider our ways.
Philippians 1:27 "Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;"
“For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries.” I Corinthians 16:9
Remember! Where God is Working- Satan is always Resisting!
Those of us who had the privilege of being shepherded under Pastor James Grove will never forget those deep heartfelt messages he often gave. Does Christianity really work? See for yourself!! Listen here to this message from October 7, 2007:
Hebrews 11:27 tells us, "By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible." We must see through our current circumstances and follow God by faith!
There are two types of revelations: General Revelation & Special Revelation. Here is a quick discussion on the basic elements of a revelation.
The battle is the Lord's! He will fight for us. Though it may seem long and hard- when related to eternity, our battles here on this earth are brief. It is all beneath the feet of our Saviour and He will hold us up!
How important are belief and trust in our daily walk? Listen here to this basic Bible principle that we can apply to our everyday life.
In this message, we contrast some of the differences between the sinner and the saint. We must ask ourself which one are we... and how are we living?
Have you given God your whole heart? The Bible instructs to give Him our all. "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." Pr. 3:5,6
Does God always "Hate the sin, but love the sinner?" There may be more to this question than some of us realize.
“God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day.” Psalm 7:11
Have you been found in Christ? We are born into innocence... but soon arrive in a state of iniquity from our own sin. We must turn to Christ as our Saviour and be Born Again. Where are you?
Hebrews 11:30 "By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they were compassed about seven days."
In just under an hour we cover pretty much everything the Bible teaches about baptism... listen here:
Do you have trouble seeing the goodness of God in every situation? He is there. And He is in control. The sadness in this world comes as a result of our fallen nature and the sin-cursed world we live in. We must look up to see God's hand leading us through!
Book of Philippians study "Journey Into Joy"

Listen along as we learn valuable life lessons from God's Word.
How can we be a blessing to missionaries?
By Praying | By Giving | By Helping | By Going

We have God's Blessings.
We have God's Benefits!
We were so blessed to have Missionary Teddy Fulfer and his wife Ligaya with us last Wednesday evening. Please prayerfully consider giving to their ministry at www.sbchome.org
"And Reuben answered them, saying, Spake I not unto you, saying, Do not sin against the child; and ye would not hear?" Genesis 42:22
Jesus came the first time to give His life that we may be saved. But make no mistake about it- He will be coming again, and In That Day we must be ready to meet Him.
It is vitally important to live our lives in the fear of the Lord.
Proverbs 14:27 "The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death." www.heritageyork.com/listen
We are really enjoying this dive into Hebrews 11 and learning lessons from our great Hall of Faith!! Listen here or at www.heritageyork.com/listen as we follow the life of Moses!
John 9 "And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth. And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him."
Last year we spent some Wednesday evenings studying the names of God. Here is a breakdown of the word Elohim. Very interesting.
Samuel was a man of such godly character that his influence lasted generations. 2 Samuel was written entirely after his death. His life was a direct result of the fervent prayers of his mother Hannah. We can learn much through her example.
Truth is a standard that should be well defined in our lives. God's Word is our standard.
Are you being led by the Spirit of God, or relying on your own intellect and perceptions?
Message by Pastor Heller at our Faith and Family Conference
Are we truly worshipping God in Spirit and in Truth?
Or are we just going through the motions?
Such a great challenge from Pastor Black!!
"Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life." John 8:12
If not us... who?
If not now... when?
Did you know that we should not be content with giving to God something that cost us nothing? God requires true sacrificial giving for our lives to be truly blessed.
Like Abraham- there are things we must be prepared for:
Directions | Delays | Disappointments | Death
"It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God."
Why is it so hard to get saved???
Jeremiah 23:6
"In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, The Lord Our Righteousness."
We spent a Sunday School class going through the Proverb of the Day... which was chapter 27. We hope you remember to use the Proverbs as part of your daily walk!
We spent a Sunday School class going through the Proverb of the Day... which was chapter 27. We hope you remember to use the Proverbs as part of your daily walk!
Hebrews 11:7 "By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith."
"Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth." John 12:35-40
The house of God is a place where His Word is Proclaimed and His name is Praised! May God be glorified at Heritage Baptist Church!!
The Lord is our Great Shepherd! He will feed us, give us freedom, give to us His faithfulness, reveal His calling for our life, and comfort us along the way.
God has a purpose for every trial we face. He is always working in someone's life. Just look at some of the things He accomplishes through each struggle:
To prove us to God
To prove God to us
To prove us to our-self
To prove us to others
To prove God to others
Enoch demonstrated his faith by his walk with God. It is important how we walk through this life!
Though Cain offered the best of what he had- he did not offer what God required of him. We must not only meet our personal standards, but we must meet God's.
What is faith? "Having the confidence that God will make the impossible possible in my life."
You don't want to miss this great new series on Hebrews Chapter 11!! Join us Sunday mornings at 10 am at Heritage Baptist Church.
1 Peter 2:3-5
"If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious. To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious, Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ."
Let's learn the origin of the Alexandrian texts that the false versions were translated from:

This lesson discusses how we got the Bible written down- explained from the New Testament and the Old Testament.
God has given us His Word. Every jot and tittle! He has kept it and preserved it for us. "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away." Matthew 24:35
John 14:1-6 "Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know. Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."
"And the Lord said unto him, Peace be unto thee; fear not: thou shalt not die. Then Gideon built an altar there unto the Lord, and called it Jehovahshalom:" Judges 6:23,24
We go through a ton of Bible verses in this study which first follows the steps of salvation and secondly the steps in discipleship. The paths are similar- yet unique!
God has a plan, and He is working things out! "she went, and came, and gleaned in the field after the reapers: and her hap was to light on a part of the field belonging unto Boaz..." God is our HOPE when all things seem hopeless. www.heritageyork.com
Do you know where your Bible translation came from? Listen here to learn the difference between the Antioch texts and the Alexandrian texts, and which one the King James Bible was translated from.
"In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:" Colossians 1:14
This year we held our New Year's Fellowship after the Wednesday evening service. Here is the message that rang in the New Year for us at Heritage.
Join us here for the audio portion of our adult Sunday School class. We do break for discussion throughout the lessons, so this is a concise overview of the teaching.
Psalm 104:34 "My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the Lord." Jer. 15:16 "Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart:"
Final study in the Book of James: "Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him; Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins."
We have a Father Who loves us, listens to us, looks after us, and longs for a relationship with us. He is our Abba, Father.
"Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people." Isaiah 56:7
From the sick to the sane... and everyone in between- the message remains the same. Jesus Saves! Jesus Saves!
Psalm 103:21 "Bless ye the LORD, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure."
Let us not be the lukewarm church.
James 5:17 Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.
18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.
We must SHARE the Wonderful Words of Life given to us by God!!
Do not be distracted by the things us of this world that may keep us away from focusing on the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
"Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain:" John 15:16
"Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms. Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:"
"Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils... And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them... Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God... Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?... And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God... Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience... The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light... Be not ye therefore partakers with them..."
The devil is our #1 Enemy and we need to be aware of his deceitfulness in order to stand strong and true to Christ!
We were blessed to visit Lebanon Independent Baptist Church on Sunday evening and hear Missionary Eleseph Dulay preach on God's Great Grace!! What a blessing this message was... listen through the end and hear an update on the missions field in Caloocan City, Philippines.
21 Days of Prayer!! You will be greatly encouraged through your time of affliction with the principles of this message applied.
Sunday Morning Message: The Importance of Our Words!
Your words have power to tear down or to build up... use them wisely!
"1 Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you. 2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten. 3 Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days." James 5
"Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee; in whose heart are the ways of them. Who passing through the valley of Baca MAKE IT A WELL; the rain also filleth the pools. They go from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appeareth before God." Psalm 84:5-7
“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”
“God brought them out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn.” Numbers 23:22
James 4:11 Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge. Are we to JUDGE each other???
Humble yourself before God!!
Proverbs 18:12 "Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honour is humility."
"And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest, And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem. And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven:" Acts 9:1-3

We must remain STEADFAST in the way of the Lord!
God has set a course for our lives, but the devil sets up storms for us along the way. Remember- Jesus is the Captain of our Salvation and He can see us through any storm!
Through Christ- we can do more than recover from our sin, we can have remission of our sins!
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
Ever wonder why those against God try to make you do wrong? Proverbs warns us, "The bloodthirsty hate the upright:" in verse 29:10. Yet it is God's desire for us to walk uprightly in all of our ways!
James 4:6,7 "But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."

When we stand for the Lord we must be sure we are standing upon The Rock! Or else we will fall like the man who built his house upon the sand.
"A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return. And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come."
What are YOU doing with the gifts God has given to you?
Will you be a faithful servant?
Why is the Tribe of Dan not listed on the walls of Heaven?
What is meant by, "They have gone the way of Dan?"
Will you let God take your mess and create a life that is beautiful?
"In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light." Genesis 1:1-3
God has given us a race... So Run!
.

Trivia Question: What hymn tells us to raise our (standard/banner/ensign) high?
Romans 3 "...As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: Their feet are swift to shed blood: Destruction and misery are in their ways: And the way of peace have they not known: There is no fear of God before their eyes. Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God."

Psalm 37:23,24,34a "The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand. Wait on the LORD, and keep his way,"
Proverbs 30:32 "If thou hast done foolishly in lifting up thyself, or if thou hast thought evil, lay thine hand upon thy mouth."
"And [Jesus] spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow; And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up: Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth: And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away. And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them: But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold." Matthew 13
Faith. Works. "Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way? For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also."
"Send thou men, that they may search the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel... And Moses by the commandment of the LORD sent them from the wilderness of Paran: - Shammua - Shaphat - Caleb - Igal - Oshea - Palti - Gaddiel - Gaddi - Ammiel - Sethur - Nahbi - Geuel - These are the names of the men which Moses sent to spy out the land." (From Numbers 13)
James 2:20-24 "But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only."
Christian- we will never get the POWER of God in our lives, without being PLUGGED IN to Him through His Word and His Will! The only way to be kept from the evil in this world is to be Plugged In to God! Are you plugged in today?
Real "HOPE" is found only in Christ.
Titus 1:2 "In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;"
There are many things lacking in what men in our generations are passing onto the younger ones. Here is a great message by Pastor Elwood Heller with 3 points on fathers teaching true Biblical hospitality to their sons.

As Christians, we are promised persecution in this life. Acts 5:41,42 "And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name. And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ."
"But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed." James 1:22-25
Are you a DOER of the Word?
"Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was." James 1:21-24

Christian, do you have BOTH feet in? Do you have a time in your life (after salvation) when you have totally sold out for the Lord?
"Hear ye the word which the LORD speaketh unto you... Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. For the customs of the people are vain:" Jeremiah 10:1-3a
Pastor Brian Sargent was with us on Wednesday night and brought a challenging message on being in the service of the Lord.
Join us Sunday morning, when he will be bringing our Sunday morning message!
Studying the book of James:
5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
Join us as we begin studying the book of James. Sunday school begins at 10:00 am each week at Heritage Baptist Church, 6732 Lake Rd., York, PA 17403. Listen here to our introductory lesson:

And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented."

Like Nicodemus, though he had a great position, prestige, and pride, we must all come to a place of conviction that we too might come to our place of salvation.
As Christians, one of the best lessons we can learn early on is what exactly belongs to the Lord. Listen as we walk through 4 areas of our life that belong to Him.
If we want the power of God to work in our lives- we must first be filled with the Word of God in our hearts.

As Christians, we must know the difference between a conservative viewpoint of taking care of the resources God has given us and the extremist viewpoint that minimizes the difference between humans and animals. See: Romans 1:21-25; Colossians 1:15,16; Psalm 19:1; Proverbs 12:10
God is looking for a man!! I encourage each one of you to listen to this message. Men, will you be the man that God is looking for you to be?

Ephesians 1:2-14 "Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence; Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself: That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him: In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory."
How can a believer walk away and get to the point where they question the existence of God? Simply put- they forget.
John 12:24 "Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit."
Christian- we must have a heart for souls! According to Matthew 25:41 hell was prepared for the devil and his angels. Salvation through Jesus Christ was prepared for the souls of men, but we must share the Gospel so each one can hear!
How does the Bible teach us to build a church? Should we follow His ways- or mass media marketing?
Let's take a look at our motive for service as we learn from the parable of the labourers in the vineyard.

Why should we go soul winning?
To glorify God! To rescue sinners from hell! To encourage other Christians!
To pay our debt! To strengthen the church! To hasten the return of Christ!
To show our love for Christ by obeying His last command!
How do we win souls?
By persuading those who are not interested (II Corinthians 5:11)
By travailing in intercessory prayer (Isaiah 66:8)
The #1 Enemy of Soul Winning is in our mind.
The attitude of feeling incompetent to win souls.
The attitude of not feeling "led" to go.
The attitude that soul winning is not that important.
The attitude of feeling that it takes a "special talent."
The attitude that it won't do any good.
The attitude that it is a hard and gruesome job.
The attitude that you can only witness to someone if God is calling them.
The attitude that you can only deal with prepared hearts.
We need to be awakened by the Holy Spirit of God to be filled with compassion in order to make a difference in the lives of those around us.
