Church! It elicits all kinds of thoughts. To some it is a building on a corner. To others it speaks of extreme boredom, a blast from our past. We may feel judged by the church or excluded by the church but what if, something amazing happened and we were to be LOVED by God’s church. Jesus didn’t come to build an exclusive club called the church but He gave His life for a church that would be a lifesaving station for people who are drowning in despair. God’s promises are great! But sometimes our idea of realizing those promises clashes with God’s. This message considers the conflict that resides when the Kingdom of Heaven clashes with the Kingdom of Man. Which kingdom are you pursuing?
Many of us try to make a difference in our world using a variety of methods. We may be ambassadors for some religion thinking that the answer can be found there. At times we may think we need to march in outrage resisting the power brokers who bring trouble to our world. Some even turn to violence. We may depend on our group of friends to support us and give us a reason for living. At times we turn to political influence in order to restore hope and purpose to our world. But in time we find that only Jesus brings real and lasting hope.
Life is filled with attacks. Attacks on our family, attacks on our finances, attacks on our health, or attacks on our kids. We can begin to feel overwhelmed with all the circumstances. We can begin to believe that we just… can’t… win. We all feel like an overwhelmed underdog from time to time. But when the odds are against you, God is for you!

• This week, when I’m feeling distant, I will purposefully draw close to God.
• Each day this week, I will lean into the table of intimacy with Jesus.
Next Steps:
• Identify which of the three characteristics of extravagant worship you can focus on this week: Sacrifice, Generosity, or Vulnerability.
• This week, I will seize opportunities to worship extravagantly.

If you've ever driven a car stuck in one gear, you know how annoying it is, but also how hard it is on the soul of your car, the engine. Some of us have become acclimated to living our lives in one gear. It’s time to shift.

We pick up this series in Matthew chapter 17. Over the previous two years Jesus' disciples had witnessed first hand His teachings, watched him play with children, love the unlovely and miraculously heal the sick. They had seen him weather resistance from the religious elite who detested Him. The general sentiment among Jesus' followers was that He was the long awaited Messiah and the rightful King of Israel. But they still weren't getting it. They needed a reality check.

We are all broken, but there is beauty in our brokenness. Because it is in our sin, in the mess of our lives, that God encounters, forgives and restores us. For He is the God of the broken, telling us who we are, not who we once were.

Leading up to Summer Splash, Pastor Rick Lorimer speaks on why baptism is an important step for every follower of Christ to take. "If it's important to Christ, it's important to me."
In chapter 15 of Matthew, we see the ever-growing estrangement between Jesus and the religious elite of his day. The haters had already determined they would do what ever was necessary to eliminate Him. So, there was urgency in the air for Jesus to help His followers understand His mission and teachings. For close to two years they heard him teach and preach. And yet they still had trouble breaking free from their religious traditions and legalism. They had yet separated themselves from their myopic cultural view of themselves and their mission.
It’s not enough to be along for the ride, Jesus wants His followers to understand His Word and apply it to their lives. There was so much at risk. It’s time they get it. Welcome to our new series: Do you get it?

All scars tell a story… stories of wounds suffered. Some of them outside, some inside. Our individual scars tell the story of our lives, stories of pain and brokenness. But there are scars that tell a very different story. God’s scars tell a story of forgiveness and healing. And for all eternity his scars will continue to tell a story of God’s unending love.

n Matthew 13 Jesus begins describing the Kingdom of Heaven in mysterious, short stories. What in the world does God’s kingdom look like? When will it come? And why the secrecy in his story-telling? This kingdom Jesus is talking about is unlike anything his audience has heard. Are Jesus’ parables simply fables or could they be more…..?

The Christ's Place Pastoral Staff have compiled questions from the congregation, pertaining to Grace and will provide their answers to these questions.
Jesus Saves: The Story of Grace
Grace is what I desire most when my guilt is exposed. And grace is the very thing I’m hesitant to give when I’m confronted with the guilt of others. It’s this struggle that makes grace more story than doctrine. It’s this struggle that reminds us grace is bigger than compassion or forgiveness.
Grace is understood best within the context of relationship. The story of grace begins in the beginning. It is a story that traces its way through every book of the Bible.

In Matthew chapter 11, we find just such negative responses to Christ.
