Johnny Dunbar, the 69-year-old pastor of Heritage Hope Church of God in Somerset, Kentucky, is gaining popularity on the internet as the Appalachian PawPaw after a TikTok by Nikalie Monroe went viral. Heritage Hope was one of ten houses of worship that responded with an immediate offer to help when Nikalie gave them a call. Johnny invited Nikalie as a guest in his church recently.

We found a report that shared all sides of the story from Taylor Alesia on YouTube. You can find that video, and her channel, here.

This is the fourth in a series on the experiences of pastors’ wives. We all have a pastor or two in our church, and we tend to have very clear job descriptions and understandings of what a pastor’s role should be or should look like. But oftentimes, we don’t have that same clarity for the wife of our pastors. And while it varies from church to church, I was curious about the experiences and perspectives of pastors wives on the whole. This week we hear from Jacki C King, who knew she had a call to ministry when she was in college but was determined not to marry a pastor.

Jacki and her husband, Josh, have three kids on the verge of the teen years. Jacki serves as women’s minister and Josh serves as lead pastor at 2nd Baptist Church in Conway, Arkansas.

This is the third in a series on the experiences of pastors’ wives. We all have a pastor or two in our church, and we tend to have very clear job descriptions and understandings of what a pastor’s role should be or should look like. Taylor Lee and her husband, Neal, are members of Mars Hill Church in Fairhope, where he serves as campus pastor.

Page and her husband, Les, serve Pleasant Grove First Baptist Church together and also co-founded Anchor Deep Ministries and Meanwhile Ministries.

But oftentimes, we don’t have that same clarity for the wife of our pastors. The latest attempt at expanding gambling options in Alabama garnered a lot of our state legislators’ attention during the recent legislative session.

One angle used in the promotion of expanding legalized gambling was the idea that the illegal operations could finally be shut down because the new legislation would allow for regulations not currently in existence.

When we heard this reasoning shared, we wanted to understand more about our state’s current gambling laws and how they are or are not being enforced.

Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall shares the details with Jennifer Davis Rash in this TAB Media Special Report.

Today I’ve got Kristen Padilla with me. Kristen and I have very similar upbringings as daughters of Southern Baptist preachers and everything that goes along with it. So we’ve both seen ministry up close as spectators, and as adults we’re trying to serve the Lord as faithfully as we can. For Kristen, that meant going to seminary, which brought up a whole slew of questions and struggles as a woman with a calling from the Lord. And now, as the director of the Women in Ministry Initiative at Samford University’s Beeson Divinity School, she’s seen a lot of situations similar to her own.

Kristen is also the manager of marketing and communication at Beeson and the author of “Now That I’m Called: A Guide for Women Discerning a Call to Ministry”. Order it from Amazon HERE. She co-hosts the Beeson Divinity Podcast, (found HERE), which features lectures and interviews with Beeson faculty and spiritual leaders.

But she’s been able to see the Lord move in all of the unexpected circumstances, and I just really want some of us who are further down the path to remember how we felt when we were in her shoes and remember what God did when we were trying to figure it all out. So let’s dive in.

Special Report: Concerns about Expanded Gambling in Alabama

Alabama legislators are considering a bill sponsored by Sen. Del Marsh that would bring a constitutional amendment before the people of the state to remove the restrictions currently in place and ultimately expand gambling in the multiple areas across the state. Several Alabama groups are concerned about the state's welfare going forward if this legislation passes. Click here to read the latest version of the legislation.

Les Bernal, national director of the social reform network Stop Predatory Gambling, shares with TAB Media's Jennifer Davis Rash in this special report reasons Alabamians should be concerned about gambling expansion efforts.

The property of the most influential evangelical church in Minsk, the capital city of Belarus, was seized by government officials Feb. 17. We did things a little differently this week and made the interviewer the interviewee.

In this episode of TAB Talks, Jennifer Rash is interviewed by TAB’s Debbie Campbell, Margaret Colson and Maggie Evans on her 25 years with the state Baptist publication turned media group. What Jennifer thought would be a stop-over while she was in seminary at Beeson Divinity School at Samford University turned out to be the ministry that God had for her to invest deeply into.

Jennifer shares about those who took a chance on her, her seminary training at Beeson Divinity School at Samford University, the Baptist organizations that she has “grown up” with, the changes she’s seen over the years and where TAB Media is heading in the future.

Keep an ear out to the end of the episode to hear about the changes coming for TAB Talks!

We’ve all seen burnout – in ourselves, in our church leaders, in our friends and family members – and we all want to avoid that. But is that even possible in our fast-paced culture?

In this episode of TAB Talks, Dr. Saundra Dalton-Smith shares with co-hosts Debbie Campbell and Maggie Evans the concept of sacred rest that God modeled for us at the dawn of creation. As a board-certified internal medicine physician, Dr. Dalton-Smith encourages her patients and fellow believers to seek to integrate rest into their daily lives instead of striving for an unattainable balance, even going as far as to write a book on the subject.

Our adventures and experiences shape our viewpoints and our trajectories, and oftentimes the most memorable and impactful adventures take place outdoors.

On this week’s episode of TAB Talks, fellow podcasters Bryan Gill and Brad Hill share about their most recent project – The Storied Outdoors. Bryan, director of university assessment and professional studies for Samford University, and Brad, worship and missions pastor for Mars Hill Church in Mobile, have known each other for nearly 20 years, and they share about the connection between personal stories and adventure and how those shape us.
