Bianca Hunt is a Gumbaynngirr Woman, she was born and raised on Barkindji and Latji Latji country. She moved to Dharawal country also known as the Illawarra, over a decade ago. Bianca was a teen parent, the first in her family to complete year 12 and attend university, she is also a single mum of seven kids aged between 9-21. Her passion is building partnerships and connections within the community, to address issues of Suicide, Domestic Violence, Philanthropy, Education, Inter-generational trauma, and Juvenile Justice. She previously worked in the Home and Community Care sector for seven years and currently works at Lifeline and TAFE NSW. Her Lifeline South Coast work has provided extensive experience in crisis and suicide prevention as a Crisis Support Supervisor, Corporate and Community QPR Suicide Awareness Trainer, Volunteer Accredited Telephone Crisis Supporter and Project Officer. Her passion to engage and consult with community, has led to the tailoring of suicide awareness training to support and raise awareness of the needs of our marginalized, high risk communities. Her TAFE NSW work in the Counselling, Youth and Mental health sector has provided the opportunity to teach the units Promoting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Safety, Working with diverse people and Working with people with mental health needs. Bianca was part of the Illawarra International Women’s Day panel 2020, University of Wollongong Philanthropy and Collective giving panel 2019 and Ambassador for the UOW Equity Phone Appeal 2018, JCI Australia National Convention 2017, UOW Future Leaders Keynote Speaker 2016. She has experience as a Keynote Speaker, UOW Advancement and TAFE NSW Ambassador, volunteered in various roles including the UOW Coffee for a Cause and JCI ‘Let’s Do It’ clean up Australia initiatives. She is also an advocate for the community and part of the Lifeline South Coast Reconciliation Action Plan working group. Since 2017 she has been an active member of the Illawarra Junior Chamber International and was elected as the Vice President of the Illawarra JCI Board 2020. A board member of the Illawarra Aboriginal Base Working Group 2020. She is in her penultimate year of University, completing a degree in psychology and criminology at UOW. Bianca looks forward to future opportunities that encompass Vision, Integrity and Purpose.
