Target Audience

This activity is targeted towards internal medicine, family medicine, pediatrics, and urgent care.

Statement of Need

In January 2019, the World Health Organization included ‘vaccine hesitancy’ as one of the top 10 threats to global health. Providers should be aware of current philosophies towards vaccine hesitancy, be current on the AAP vaccination schedule, and be knowledgeable in techniques to talk with families that are vaccine hesitant.

Objectives

At the conclusion of this offering, the participant will be able to:

  • Define vaccine hesitancy.
  • Describe factors that influence a family's tendency to be vaccine hesitant.
  • Discuss effective strategies to address vaccine hesitancy with parents.
  • Understand the scientific data about the safety and efficacy of vaccines and risks of non-vaccination.
