Life is full of transitions, and every new beginning comes with something left behind. Whether it's marriage, parenthood, an empty nest, or a new season, change often brings both joy and grief. Instead of resisting those emotions, God invites us to acknowledge them, process them with Him, and trust that He's using every transition to shape us into the likeness of Christ.

In this episode, Jamie and Heather explore the joy, loss, and growth that come with life's transitions. Plus, they unpack the value of learning from those who have walked the road before us and how the Church is meant to help us navigate change together. Friendship was never meant to be easy. It was meant to be transformative. And often, the transformation doesn't come from finding better people—it comes from learning how to forgive the imperfect ones already in your life.

In this month's episode, we explored a topic most of us would rather avoid: forgiveness. Through one deeply personal story, we were reminded: forgiveness isn't optional—it's the doorway to the kind of relationships that actually last.

Who are you becoming? And who are you following?

For the first-ever live episode of Tell Me More, Pastors Whit George and Ethan Vanse explore the contrast between Abraham and Lot—and the question behind both lives: What's your strongest influence?

Abraham isn't perfect, but he keeps moving toward God. Lot settles for what looks good in the moment. Through their stories, Whit and Ethan unpack the tension between grace and consequences, why faith is about progress not perfection, and what it means to live with open hands in a temporary world.

Genesis 16 reminds us that God's promises don't fail—our patience often does. When the waiting feels too long, we're tempted to take control and force outcomes.

In this episode, Pastors Whit George, Blake Zimmerman, and Angela Ekstrum explore how even in human missteps, God is still at work, forming hearts, shaping character, and advancing His plan to redeem all mankind. He is not just fulfilling dreams; He is forming people.

What does real friendship actually require? In this episode of Life in Motion, we dive into covenant friendship—the kind built on honesty, vulnerability, commitment, and showing up when it matters most.

We talk about naming your friendships, making (and keeping) promises, ditching surface-level connection, and why accountability and safety go hand in hand. If you're craving deeper, more meaningful relationships—and aren't sure how to build them—this conversation is for you.

In this episode, Pastors Whit and Gabe reflect on Genesis 15 and how it shapes the entire story of Scripture. Rather than portraying a distant God who sets requirements from afar, Genesis reveals a God who desires closeness—who patiently walks with His people.

What we see in these scriptures is faith not as a transaction or a moment, but as a lifelong walk of trust. More than a clean record or a distant destination, the story of Abraham is about with‑ness: God joyfully dwelling with His people and inviting them into a relationship that transforms everything.

God doesn't hand you a blueprint—He invites you into a relationship. In this episode, pastors Whit George, Ethan Vanse, and Seth Swindall explore how the life of Abraham shows us that faith isn't about seeing the full vision, but about trusting the One who leads. In contrast to Babel's drive to build a name for ourselves, Abraham's journey is a slow surrender from "my will" to "thy will." It's not about escaping to heaven someday, but allowing God's Kingdom to be formed in you right now.

Friendship can feel complicated, but when it's done right, it can be one of the most life-giving parts of our lives. In this episode, Jamie and Heather unpack the reality that we're not meant to be deeply connected to everyone. From understanding your natural capacity for relationships to identifying the different "rings" of friendship, this conversation brings language to what many people feel but can't quite explain.

We talk about what real vulnerability looks like (and what it doesn't), how to deepen the right friendships, and how to recognize when a relationship has shifted—or needs to.

In the final week of our Guided Prayer Podcast leading up to Easter, we reflect on the nearness of God and the invitation to come honestly into His presence. As this six-week journey comes to a close, we invite you to pause and pray: Where might the Good Shepherd be inviting you back into His presence?

Next week, instead of another podcast episode, we're inviting you to join us in person during Holy Week in the prayer rooms at any of our churches. Find the details: https://churchonthemove.com/holyweek#prayer

In week five of our Guided Prayer Podcast, we slow down in John 16 and let Jesus reshape the way we approach God. Jesus invites us to pray in His name—not as a phrase tacked onto the end of a prayer, but as an invitation into His relationship with the Father.

Take a few moments to reflect and pray: What would you say to God if you knew you were completely loved—and nothing could push you away?

In this episode, our Founding Pastor, Willie George, and Lead Pastor, Whit George, explore how the prayers in Ephesians teach us to pray for what we truly need: wisdom, power, and love. Wisdom comes first, because power without wisdom is dangerous. Then comes the power of God at work in us through the Holy Spirit, giving real inner strength. But that power must always be guided by love.

In this week of our Guided Prayer Podcast, we pause to consider a quiet warning: our busy, full schedules can hide empty sources. Through reflection and prayer, we ask an honest question—are there places in our lives where we're living as if Jesus isn't necessary, relying on our own strength, planning, and process instead of depending on Him?

Take time to reflect: Where are you pretending you don't need Him? What would it look like to make room today to rely on Jesus—fully, simply, and again?

In week three of our Guided Prayer Podcast, we gather around Psalm 16 and Jesus' words in John 14. Through worship and reflection, we're reminded that in God's presence there is fullness of joy—and that even in moments of anxiety and uncertainty, we are not alone.

In a world shaped by fear of rejection and loss, Jesus declares that we are fully known, fully loved, and never forsaken.

Take time to reflect: Where is Jesus inviting you to trust Him more deeply? What would it look like to open your hands and believe that He is truly good—and truly with you?

You don't have to chase peace—you've already been given it.

In this episode, the lead pastors from our three churches Whit George, Ethan Vanse, and Seth Swindall walk through Philippians 4:1–9 and unpack what it really means to stand firm in a world that constantly pulls us into anxiety, conflict, and distraction. They talk about dwelling in the presence of God, the difference between forgiveness and restoration, bringing your real burdens to prayer, and choosing what you allow your mind to live in.

Jamie and Heather give an honest (and hilarious) update on their "body doubling" challenge—cleaning out a pantry and a closet together—and discover that what started as a productivity hack became something much deeper. In this episode, they talk about the power of presence, why some seasons make friendship easier than others, and how doing small, ordinary tasks side by side can lighten the weight of life. Plus, Jamie shares a big family update and the unexpected mix of joy, grief, and growth that comes with shifting family dynamics. In Episode 2 of our Guided Prayer Podcast, we slow down with Psalm 25 and a time of worship, asking God to teach us His ways and lead us in His truth. Centered on John 13, this episode reflects on Jesus washing His disciples' feet—an intimate act of love on the night before His crucifixion.

As Easter approaches, we're invited to consider not only what it means to sit at Jesus' feet, but what it means to let Him come to ours. Are there places in your life you'd rather keep untouched? Through Scripture, song, and guided reflection, this episode creates space to surrender those hidden areas and allow Jesus to love you fully—because resurrection life begins with honest surrender.

In the weeks leading up to Easter, we're releasing prayer podcasts designed to help you slow down and encounter God. Each episode weaves together Scripture, worship, and guided prayer—creating space to reflect and respond.

This week, we read from Psalm 40 and John 12, reflecting on Mary's costly worship and the "fragrance" our lives carry. What aroma are you bringing into the spaces you enter? As we approach Easter, consider what Jesus may be inviting you to lay at His feet—and how time with Him shapes the way you live, love, and lead.

What if the breakthrough you're praying for begins with learning how to name what you feel? Your spiritual maturity and emotional maturity are inseparable.

In this episode, Whit George, Casey Shirley, and Angela Ekstrum explore why feelings are not obstacles to spiritual growth—but essential to it. They unpack the difference between emotions and feelings, and what it really means to stay relational under pressure.

Emotions will either move us away from relationship or deeper into it. The question is: will we let them lead us toward connection with God and others?

Real change doesn't happen through inspiration alone—it happens through formation. The bridge between wanting to change and actually becoming new is found in practices: small, repeatable rhythms that shape our desires and direction over time.

In this episode, Whit George, Blake Zimmerman, and Blaine Bartel explore how spiritual practices are counter-formation, slow and often resistant, but deeply powerful. As we commit to faithful practices—body, mind, and soul—we learn to trust the process, resist the path of least resistance, and allow Jesus to do His quiet, transforming work in us.

Life doesn't stop changing just because we grow up. As traditions shift, kids become adults, and seasons evolve, we're invited to hold our expectations with open hands. Parenting isn't just about shaping our kids—it's about shaping us. Through boundaries, consistency, repair, and everyday inconveniences, God uses parenting to expose our hearts, grow our maturity, and form us into people our children can trust. In the face of loss, unanswered prayers, when something bad happens—We often look for a balancing of the scales of good and bad. We try to make sense of tragedy by making it purposeful, but that's not Christian hope. Of course, God works in the midst of difficult circumstances, but we don't need to settle a score in a life where you're not always going to see the score settled. So, what do we do instead? How do we follow God through despair, loss, and tragedy? How do we follow God in success, good times, and answered prayers?

In this episode, Church on the Move Pastors Whit George, Ethan Vanse, and Seth Swindall talk through the book of James. They wrap up a 15-week teaching series in James by emphasizing our need for perspective from Heaven, wholeness from God, and God's presence in our everyday life.

In this episode, Whit mentions a prayer attributed to Dr. Samuel Johnson:

Almighty and most merciful Father, whose clemency I now presume to employ. After a long life of carelessness and wickedness, have mercy upon me. I have committed many trespasses. I have neglected many duties. I have done what you have forbidden, and I have left undone what you have commanded. Forgive, merciful Lord, my sins, negligences, and ignorances, and enable me by the Holy Spirit to amend my life according to thy Holy Word.

As we wrap up a summer of candid conversations on intimacy, marriage, and sex, we’re looking back at what we’ve learned along the way. This season has challenged us to see intimacy not as something that “just happens,” but as something we intentionally pursue, protect, and nurture.

In this episode, Heather and Jamie talk about the reality of distractions, shifting seasons of life, and the need to take ownership of our connection with our spouse. Marriage is always in motion—and so is intimacy.

Life doesn’t stop handing out trials—but James invites us to see them differently. He begins his letter with four surprising words: “Count it all joy.” Not because suffering feels good, but because endurance through trials produces something lasting: a deeper, steadier faith. Joy, James says, isn’t tied to circumstances—it’s rooted in the confidence that God is at work in every situation, shaping us into who we were meant to be.

In this episode, Pastors Whit George and Ethan Vanse unpack James 1:2–12 and the true meaning of faith, doubt, and joy through endurance.

Every day, over 400 million terabytes of information flood the internet. Knowledge isn’t scarce—wisdom is. Countless “ways to live” compete for attention, yet James points us to the simplicity of being settled in Christ. Jesus gives the truth about who we are, freeing us from the noise and grounding our identity in Him.

In this episode, Pastors Whit George and Angela Ekstrum explore identity in Christ vs. cultural identity, the authority of Scripture, and the power of community in forming us.

In a culture overflowing with sexual messages, many of us are quietly carrying questions, confusion, or even shame around the topic of sex. It’s no secret this conversation still feels a little taboo, even among Christians. But Scripture isn’t silent on sex—and we shouldn’t be either.

Here’s the truth: shame keeps us from the good things God has for us.

In this episode, Heather and Jamie explore the roots of sexual shame and how we can move from hiding to healing—stepping into the light to be fully known and restored.

Let’s be honest—Judges is one of those books in the Bible that makes you pause and say, “Wait… what?” The stories are full of deeply flawed people doing questionable things. But they also hold up a mirror to our own human condition. They reveal our drift, our compromise, our self-reliance. And they whisper a question that echoes throughout the Old Testament: Who will save us?

In this episode, Whit George and Angela Ekstrum what the book of Judges shows us about the state of our hearts and the faithfulness of God.

We often frame salvation around a single emotional moment: Did you pray the prayer? But that question doesn’t show up in Scripture. American Christianity has often reduced the gospel to an afterlife insurance policy: believe in Jesus and go to heaven when you die. But if your concept of heaven doesn’t require Jesus to be there, you’ve misunderstood what Jesus came to do.

In this episode, Pastors Whit and Lee explore justification and sanctification and how God is not just after our destination; He’s after our transformation.

Renewal isn’t about becoming a "better" version of ourselves; it’s about becoming who God intended us to be — and that process always begins before revival ever reaches the world around us.

What shaped your understanding of sex growing up? Was it a quiet conversation with a parent, an awkward health class, a warning laced with shame? For many of us—especially those raised in Christian homes—our foundational beliefs about sex were vague, fear-based, or simply unspoken. We may have heard “don’t do it until you’re married,” but little else. And the unspoken message? Sex is bad… until one day, magically, it’s good.

We believe it’s time to talk. This summer, we’re inviting experts, sharing real stories, surfacing hard questions, and pointing back to God’s truth. Because God cares deeply about sex. He designed it. And He wants something better for all of us.

Let’s break the silence—together.

Brothers Whit and Gabe George grew up in church, but their journeys to truly following Jesus took different paths—both marked by pride, just in different forms. Both had to face the unsettling reality that pride, whether loud or quiet, keeps us from God. Like Peter, they had to be confronted with what was really inside of them—not to be condemned, but to be changed. Real transformation began when they stopped pointing outward and dared to ask, “Lord, is it me?” Only then did they begin to understand that faith isn’t built on perfection—it’s built on dependency.

In this episode, Whit and Gabe share stories from their childhood, explore Peter's actions in Mark 14, and reflect on the painful and beautiful journey of discovering who you really are in light of Christ.

Mark 8 paints a picture of disciples whose spiritual eyes remain closed. Despite witnessing miracles, they are unable to grasp the deeper significance of what Jesus is doing. One of the most striking patterns in Scripture is how Jesus consistently puts His disciples in overwhelming situations—not to discourage them, but to shape them. From the beginning of creation, God has given humans jobs too big to handle on their own. The call to fill and subdue the earth, to shepherd nations, to be His image-bearers—it’s all impossible apart from Him. And yet, in His wisdom, He places us in these roles before we feel fully ready, training us as we go.

Mark’s Gospel starts not in a city or a temple but in the wilderness. Why? The wilderness holds deep symbolic significance. John the Baptist steps onto the stage of redemptive history in this barren, solitary place. It’s here, in the midst of the dry and desolate, that God begins His work of renewal.

In our busy lives, we rarely make space for reflection. What could it look like to step back from comforts or distractions to prepare the way for the Lord? In this episode, Whit and Casey dive deep into the first 8 verses of Mark.

In this episode, we discuss practical ways to learn to speak in a way that your spouse can understand and stay curious in our conversations.

It may be tempting to jump right to change how you talk to each other, and while that could bring some quick results, if something deeper doesn't change, your words will eventually drift back to causing harm. Scripture teaches us that our words reflect our hearts. The real issue isn't just communication—it's a heart problem only Jesus can fix.

Christianity is more than an adherence to certain beliefs. It’s an embodied faith, a process of becoming–– a way of life as taught and demonstrated by Jesus. In this episode, Casey and Whit talk about the last four beatitudes which urge us to be merciful, pure of heart, a peacemaker, and to expect opposition. What does it look like to live this out in 2024?

According to Sermon on the Mount, there’s a way to live that will make life better for you, but it might sound counterintuitive. In the first four beatitudes, Jesus invites you to be poor in spirit, to mourn, to be meek, and to hunger and thirst for righteousness, which may leave you thinking, wait, what? But we can explain.

In this episode, Whit and Casey explore meme culture, Old Testament references, and the qualities of a Kingdom seeker.

Every community has a set of rules and values to live by; this is what it means to be us. That’s exactly what Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount is for Christians. In Matthew 5-7, Jesus gives us instructions for how to live in His new kingdom. He’s both forming an identity for the church and telling us how to be human.

In this episode, Whit and Casey explore how the Sermon on the Mount should be understood and applied, and what it means to truly thrive.

Have you ever read a Bible story and thought, okay, but why? The Bible is filled with narratives, parables, and teachings that often leave us pondering the purpose behind God's actions. Some people avoid the "why" questions: Why did God create mankind? What's God's end game here? But they are necessary to get to the deeper truth: What God is going to do, He has been doing the whole time. Poetry isn’t always easy to understand. We all have different experiences with the Psalms; sometimes we read them and think, “huh?” You may love the depth of emotion and vulnerability, or maybe you avoid them altogether. So, what do we do with them? How do we read and understand 150 chapters compiled over 1,000 years? In this episode, our Spiritual Formation Pastors, Angela Ekstrum, Casey Shirley, and Blake Zimmerman, explain the structure and history of the Psalms, the practices of lament and gratitude, and teach us how to approach reading scripture meditatively so that we can ultimately understand more about God and ourselves.

This episode, Jamie and Heather do something a little bit different. They talk about the movie Turning Red and share some insights from the film. The movie explores themes of growing up, the complicated relationship between teens and their parents, and the danger of stuffing emotions. Raising kids is scary. We can’t make our kids love and follow Jesus, but we can bring to light what scripture says. Remember what you were like as a young teen? Do our kids feel safe to truly share themselves with us? Let’s talk about all of this and more! SPOILER ALERT: This episode contains spoilers for the movie Turning Red*.

Faithfully following Jesus involves having clear and honest communication with the people in our lives. Trying to go it alone puts us into an exhausting cycle: we don’t ask for help, we become resentful, and we make things harder on ourselves. Jamie and Heather have had to learn the consequences of trying to do things in their own strength the hard way, and they are ready to break this cycle and move forward in their relationships in a way that not only honors the people they love, but honors God.

How do we nurture our spiritual health along with our mental and emotional health? A lot of times in our pursuit of mental and emotional health we neglect our spiritual being. Why? Because that’s what culture tells us to do. There are tons of books, podcasts, and blogs on how to be a better person, and those things aren’t bad, but if they’re not making you a better follower of Jesus they’re not helping your whole being.

You are a physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual being.

Just like everything that plays out in our life has a physical, emotional, and mental effect, everything that happens in our lives also has a spiritual side to it. The conflict, the bad attitude, the hurt feelings, there is a spiritual side that affects the furthering of the Gospel in you and in your community.

You're invited to grow in this season with them. Every week, they'll sit down in the podcast studio and share with each other (and us) what they're learning and invite us to grow with them, to look at our lives, and let them be really, truly molded into the image of God.

We invite you to begin a journey of Jesus transformation with Jamie and Heather.

In this episode, Whit and Adam sit down with their friend, Isaac Witty, to hear his story of leaving the church, journeying away from God, and the miraculous way God found Him again.

Isaac has been a stand-up comedian for 20+ years and has been on A Prairie Home Companion, NPR, David Letterman, Conan O'Brien, and opened for Jim Gaffigan and Amy Schumer. He grew up in church with his family, but something happened in his 20's. While following his career dreams, Isaac quickly completed his task of leaving God behind.

In today's culture there's a growing trend towards being untethered and free from constraints - minimalism helps us to be free from the burden of stuff, tiny homes allow us to be free from being tied down, freelancing gives us the freedom to work how we want and when we want. We don't want anyone to tell us what we should do. Why can't we just do what we want? But what if there's something to putting down roots, trusting the authority God has placed over you, and staying committed even when things are hard? Take a listen as Whit and Adam dive into these ideas!

Cancel culture seems like it’s a brand new social construct, but actually, we see the same roots of cancel culture in scripture. We all want to be on the right side of history, we all want justice, but the tension between justice and mercy is not easily navigated. So how do you live righteously in an age of moral outrage?

In this episode, Adam and Whit discuss cancel culture. Check it out.

We know we can’t be the only ones who wake up at 3 AM wondering, “AM I WASTING MY LIFE?”

Internet influencers, 30 under 30s, and a to-do list/goal-focused culture put constant pressure on you to be more successful at a younger age than the generation before you. As a result, the pressure convinces you that nothing is worth doing unless it’s wildly successful. Your purpose becomes "success," and it’s exhausting. It's also not that great of a purpose either.

In this episode, Adam and Whit discuss the feeling of wasting your life and what your real purpose may be. Check it out.

Everyone has had fleeting thoughts and questions about their faith, so what do you do with them? Maybe doubt wasn't welcomed in your church or family growing up. Often, that's because a lot of followers of Jesus only have one category for doubt... doubt = bad. When you lump all doubt together, you end up thinking that Jesus doesn't want your questions but that couldn't be further from the truth.   In this episode, Whit George and Adam Bush discuss three categories of people and use them as a roadmap for what to do with our doubts.

Life In Motion: Why asking for help is so hard

Okay, asking for help is hard but aren't friends supposed to be comfortable being honest about how things are really going? It seems like we should be able to rely on our friends but more often than not people are uncomfortable asking for help.

What's the deal with no one asking for help when they need it?

In this episode, Heather and Jamie talk about the humiliation, embarrassment, and fear that has held them back from asking for help in the past and how to get better at putting themselves out there.

Making friends isn't always easy. Listen to Heather and Jamie discuss social anxiety and being known in this episode of Life in Motion.

Why is making friends so hard? Like, don’t we all just want to be known? The desire to be seen, understood, and heard is hardwired in all of us. So why do we cringe at the idea of putting ourselves out there? Let's talk about it.

In this episode, Heather and Jamie lay out 3 challenges for people who are wanting to make friends:

  1. Show up: Commit to showing up to the places you’re invited to or stay committed to the class you’re taking.
  2. Journal: Take some time to reflect on what is causing you to feel negatively about putting yourself out there.
  3. Practice: Saying “hello” to someone or making eye contact with the people around you.

You've probably heard someone say, "Your past does not define you," which is kind of true. It doesn't define, but it does affect you. In this season of Spirit In Motion, we're looking at "true lies." True lies are things that we say that have a hint of truth but ultimately have been misunderstood.

In this episode of Spirit In Motion, Church on the Move Lead Pastor Whit George and Kids Pastor Adam Bush discuss the lies around dealing with your past and the statement, "Your past does not define you."

The true lie with "your past does not define you" is that your past doesn't affect you. That there's no need to look at the past pain or mistakes because they no longer define you. We agree that your past does not define you, but it is affecting you.

We're not trying to be anti-inspirational this week, but ... "you should follow your dreams" is a lie... What do we mean by that? Well, the problem with statements like "Follow your dreams," "BE YOUR OWN HERO," "You be you," is that they're crushing us. They put unhealthy pressure on us to figure out who we are, be a unique person, choose the right career path, and make choices that will lead to LIVING OUR BEST LIFE.

In this episode of Spirit In Motion, Church on the Move Lead Pastor Whit George and Kids Pastor Adam Bush explore the topic of IDENTITY and the statement, "You should follow your dreams." We like to call a statement like that a true lie. There's a hint of truth to it, but ultimately the idea has resulted in a misunderstood, broken concept… a true lie.

Life in Motion is a podcast hosted by Heather George and Jamie Jobe (JJ). It’s a show where two best friends talk about life, family, and the hard things we all go through. We’re calling this first season, “We’ve got issues.” In this episode, Heather and Jamie share their stories and talk about marriage, regret, fighting, sexual abuse, miscarriages, counseling, antidepressants, and going to a psychiatrist.

Heather and JJ share some of their most significant life events right here on Episode One of Life In Motion.

Why? Because If we’re really honest, everyone has got some issues. So Heather and JJ decided as they launch season one, episode one of this podcast, they should invite people to look behind the curtain. They’re going to willingly share some of their personal issues to let you know that it’s okay for you not to be perfect.
