DIVE IN QUESTIONS

  1. How are you doing, really, right now? How about in your relationship with God? What distractions and weariness keeps you from engaging more deeply with God these days?

  2. What has God done in your life or in the lives of those you know? Take some time to reflect on and remember those Ebenezer moments of faith where God’s help was evident.

  3. What was the mistake of the elders of Israel? By what sin of commission/omission did they break the covenant?

  4. How did Israel come to this point of sliding so far away from their covenantal, “love the LORD your God with all your heart, soul, and mind” faith? (at least three answers!)

  5. 1 Samuel 4, for those with the eyes to see it, also reveals that God is present and even active among his people. What are the signs of God’s presence scattered throughout the narrative?

  6. God is present among us as well. Where do you see him? And, how might you continue to practice habits of attention like prayer and Bible this week to better focus your eyes and ears to see Jesus?
