Today’s episode is about how to handle a difference in parenting. This is another topic that is really inevitable. Both parents were raised differently and as a result, they will not always be on the same page when it comes to parenting. One parent might be more anxious than the other, one might be calmer in stressful situations, etc. This can create tension if you’re not prepared.
Here are the steps Ali suggests to do to squash that tension if it does exist because of parenting differences:
Another topic we cover is how to handle it when your children attempt to manipulate you. For example, when a parent is tired and loses the inner fight, and then gives in to the child manipulation, that will teach them to keep persisting and keep asking. So how can you manage these situations in the moment? And how can you prepare beforehand to either avoid or squash the manipulation quickly and in a healthy way?
We also discuss that it’s okay to know and admit your own limits. There are times where we need to tap out, and that’s valid. It’s important to be able to ask for help in those times.
What have you done in your marriage/partnership that has helped you with your parenting differences? What are some boundaries you’ve set with your kids that are successful? Let us know in the comments on the episode page!
