Living fit, healthy, and happy in my 60's with my wife, three small children and a todo list that thinks I'm 20. I've covered a lot of ground, bumpy and otherwise, and I've learned a thing or two along the way. I'm here to share it with you in the hope that it helps someone. This show is about men. Men that provide for their families, men that protect others, men that step up and take on the jobs that require far more than showing up and punching the clock. Guys that push themselves well beyond their limits because the situation requires it.
Shawn is in his late 50's and I am in my mid 60's and for most of our lives we have been invincible, but both of us reached a point where our bodies were unable to keep up with the pace our hearts and minds like to move at.
Shawn and I discuss the process of getting healthy again, and how food plays a huge role in making that change.
Bryan Thomas was a statistic. He was raised in a violent and dysfunctional home where alcohol and drug use began early and was a family affair. It started when he was a little boy and by the age of 16 he was a full-blown drug user, and dealer and living the hard and fast life. One night he held up a store at gunpoint and as a result was looking at a potential life sentence. But God had him even then. He served a lengthy prison sentence and that was where he ultimately found God. Today he is the evangelism Pastor at Oceans Unite Christian Center in Vero Beach, Florida.
This interview was an emotional one. And while its a story of extremes, many people can identify with the core elements of his walk, very reluctantly, toward a life with Jesus.
Buckle up. This one will touch your heart.
Sixty years ago when I was a little boy, my grandparents grew most of their food in the garden on their farm. Manure was the fertilizer, and they couldn't afford pesticides and herbicides but they had old-fashioned ways of keeping the bugs away, and there was enough kids and hoes to take care of the weeds. That food wasn't called organic then, it was just called food. The meat they got from slaughtering an animal that was raised eating grass in a pasture but it wasn't called grass-fed or free range, it was just called beef or chicken or eggs.
Between then and now the world changed. Our food, along with our habits, has become the number one killer in America. And people are starting to realize that and are drifting back to doing things the way they did when I was a kid, and centuries before that.
My wife Ana is one of those people, and since drastically changing the trajectory of my own life a few years back by changing what and how I ate, I am a true believer as well. Ana and I talk about what that looks like for us and our family in this episode of the Unscripted Podcast.
Please join me in my Unscripted Facebook Group if you have any questions, thought, or experiences of your own you wish to share.
If I were to tell you a story about a kid who was raised in an abusive home and who was involved in a highly restrictive religion that only served to turn him away from God, and that kid then embraced drugs and alcohol and all the trappings of the fast life, what would you expect to see in him today?
Throw a few years in the Army where he served over two years overseas in a hotly-contested combat zone taking lives and losing friends, and what would you expect to see in him today?
Then add in the untimely death of his wife, and PTSD, and what would you expect to see in him today?
I sat down with my good friend Andres DeJesus, or Dre as we call him, because the man you would expect to see today is not the man I know and love and count on when the stakes are high and the chips are down.
Dre didn't find Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ came to him and during this interview he tells the cryptic story of the night the devil came for his soul, and God saved him.
Dre gave his life to Christ and six years later the old Dre is long-gone and the new man is on fire for the Lord. He is a fixture in our church and an integral part of our church safety team. He is tasked with guarding the pastor. He also leads the recovery group at the church every Thursday night. He and his wonderful wife Bonnie lead a home cell Bible study group called a U Group, and they are both enrolled in the four-year Ministry Studies program offered through the church. Dre is a good and devoted husband and family man now, and an incredible friend. He is that guy you can call anytime for anything and he will be there for you.
That is what God can do in life everyone has given up on, if they will just commit their life to Christ, and pursue God relentlessly.
We hope and kindly ask that you share this podcast with anyone you think may need to hear it.
It's rare to meet someone who has survived a plane crash and even more rare to meet someone who has survived a helicopter crash. You could say then that meeting a pilot who has survived one plane crash and two helicopter crashes during his career, is a very rare thing and most certainly warrants an interview.
Shawn Sullivan is military veteran, a former paramedic, a close friend, a brother in Christ, and a commercial airline and helicopter pilot. He is also the son of a Vietnam War veteran helicopter pilot who chalked up no less than five helicopter crashes during his service.
Shawn is a professional and very safe pilot with thousands and thousands of flight-time hours. He is meticulous and I would trust him with my life and the lives of my family, but there are inherent risks when you take thousands of pounds of metal, strap an engine to it, and send it up into the atmosphere.
We sat down to talk about his experiences, particularly the most recent crash that almost took his life, on the Unscripted Podcast.
Covid decimated her business and when it was all over, she had to decide if it was worth doing it all over again. She found her answer in prayer and after a long re-building process she is ready to go again. She talks about how she does it all, runs a business, homeschools her four children, maintains a strong marriage, fitness and so much more.

More and more single dads are raising their kids alone and the challenges are many. Our guest on this episode navigated the tragedy of betrayal and divorce, a very busy and high-pressure career, with raising his two sons on his own. HIs boys are grown now and the family is successful and close. He tells his story and how he not only held it all together, but flourished as a father and a family.
Marty Kinkead was married with two very young sons and was enjoying an incredibly successful career when without warning, his wife was gone. Marty was suddenly a single dad. His boys are now men with careers. One of them has a son, Marty's first grandson that he absolutely loves spending time with.
This podcast is about a dad that went through the experience of raising his sons alone, and Marty has a powerful testimony. And he has some wisdom to share with other men raising their sons as a single parent or facing the prospect of that happening.

My wife and I decided a very long time ago that we would homeschool our kids so that we could have the flexibility to travel and do all the things that fit our lifestyle at the time.
Three years ago we moved to a small city in Florida, found an incredible church, and settled our family into this community.
Looking back, Ana Tigre talks about homeschooling and why we are so dedicated to teaching our kids at home. It's not what we thought when we first decided to homeschool, but Ana is committed to raising our kids the way we are so they are as prepared as possible to be successful adults.

Never in my adult life have I known a time when I trusted elected officials less than I do now. We don't need elected officials. We need leaders. Jesus Christ taught leadership when He washed the feet of his disciples. And when he healed the sick, took care of the needy, and fed the hungry. But most of all, Christ taught leadership when he was tortured and died on the cross for our sins, the ultimate price in service to others. Jesus taught and inspired with His words, but it was his example that changed the world forever more.
True leaders are people who selflessly serve others and make decisions based on what is best for those they are responsible for and the greater good rather than their selfish interests.
Keith Touchberry, I have discovered, is a leader. He first served his country in the Marine Corps. He then devoted his life to serving the community in law enforcement. He serves his family and his friends, and most importantly to him, he serves God as a devoted Christian.
Keith Touchberry's life has been devoted to serving, and to leadership. God has placed the desire in his heart to become the next Sheriff of Indian River County.
When we first met a few months ago, I had some tough questions for him. As a former law enforcement officer I wanted to know how he would solve problems, what he thought the problems were, and why, and I wanted to know what it would be like to work for him as a street cop. I have worked for some good leaders, and I have worked for many colossally poor ones. Before Keith was going to earn my vote, I wanted to make sure I would be serving my community by doing my part to elect the right candidate.
He took the hard questions well, and I was impressed by his philosophies on law enforcement, problem-solving, and most of all, serving the men and women on the street and in the jail that keep us safe. After more than one lengthy conversation I realized this man had no desire to be just an elected official, he was a true leader who not only had the capability, experience, and knowledge to be an outstanding Sheriff; but he explained that he was here to serve those in his charge and create a culture where the Sheriffs department in turn served the community the same way.
When I realized I was listening to him and wishing I was younger and could work under his leadership, I knew I had to get behind his efforts and share what I knew about him.
This episode is 1 hour and 7 minutes long and while that time is limited, I think you will come away, like I did, knowing this man well enough to want to support him in his bid for Sheriff.

We roll out of bed at 5am most days, then return to those cozy sheets around 10pm for a few quick hours before we start it all over again. We do our best to start the day with prayer and some Bible time but I would be lying if I told you that is the routine. We want it to be, but four unpredictable small children along with two energetic dogs have a knack for creating emergencies that interrupt or derail those intentions completely. Then there is homeschooling, cooking and cleaning, playdates, errands, designing fitness wear and other BlessedBodywear.com duties, and countless other family related tasks that Ana manages to get done in a day. If I am not welded to the computer I am off workout outside of the house building a brand new business and tending to my share of the BlessedBodywear.com responsibilities. We do our best to get at least one meal together as a family per day, and I try to shut it down and spend some time with the family each day, but again, I would be lying if I told you I succeed.
Busy is a common problem for many people and its a big problem for us. If we are not careful our conversations are only about kids and work. The time we get together as husband and wife often comes at the end of a long and exhausting day when we have little or nothing left in the tank.
We talked about it, and we both wanted to do better so we came up with some solutions that worked for us so we wanted to share that in hopes it will help someone else in the same boat. Never give up on love and never let it grow cold. It needs attention, nurturing, and it needs your time.

Jimi is a friend. We attend the same church, we see things the same in many regards, and we have a heart to serve others. I am a former SWAT Cop and Jimi is a former Special Forces Operator. This is our first podcast together and it opened a can of worms that could well turn into a dozen more shows if we took the notion to do that. Maybe we will. He is an interesting man, a bona-fide tough guy but with a huge heart, and he holds nothing back, unless it's classified. Jimi openly talks about how he grew up, his unlikely encounter with an Army recruiter, and his service to our great nation where he spend over 14 of his 20 years of military service outside of the USA.

I would like to think that every parent wants the very best for their kids. In the same breath, they want their kids to be strong, in every sense, and to have embraced the wisdom imparted to them during the formative years immersed in good parenting and family support.
That’s the storybook hope, at least. The world, however, is teeming with counseling schedules booked solid with parents of bad kids and bad parents of good kids, and every imaginable iteration of each in between.
Daniel Tangi is one of those storybook kids. He isn’t perfect, nor are his parents, but the God they worship as a family is, and because of that, God has been the cornerstone for the Tangi family through the best and the very worst of it. And, it’s God that remains to this day as the cornerstone of seventeen-year-old Daniel's life.
I watched a football game that Daniel played in last year and saw him run the ball. The kid is fast. Beyond fast. He is the kid that blows past every other red-faced and straining kid effortlessly, like they are standing still. College scouts come to his games, salivating, because signing an athlete like Daniel is their Superbowl of success, and for some, he is why they became scouts.
A quiet kid that wants to become a broadcast journalist covering sports, Daniel joins me on the show this week. I think he will be one of those kids that we will all be talking about one day saying, “Remember when Daniel Tangi was a kid, and you did that podcast with him? Look at him now.”
At seventeen he is a man completely devoted to God, his principles, his family, and doing the right thing in faith. He is also an incredible all-round athlete with blistering speed, and a plan for what he wants to do when the stage lights go out and he turns his focus to things beyond athletics.

Yet most personal trainers that got certified in the past five years are no longer making their living as trainers.

He has a passion for God, for serving others, and for protecting his community and the men and women that serve which has been the driving force behind his decision to run for Sheriff of Jefferson County, Alabama.

It's later in life, and you find yourself faced with the prospect of dating again, and the list of unknowns is intimidating. Many of the lessons life has given you resulted in scars, and the whole idea of starting from scratch with someone new is both exciting and scary.
In her late fifties, Elaine Goodlad joins me on this episode to talk about being single at a couple of years short of sixty. Ana Tigre and I get into it in this episode of the Unscripted Podcast. She says I'm not perfect, and this coming from someone that...
We all can do better, so why focus on the things that annoy you about your wife or husband? Or your kids, or friends, or anyone else for that matter. The problem may be that we tend to focus on the negative in others rather than the positive, so we only see the negative and miss all the things we could appreciate.
Focussing on the negative and placing blame may be nothing more than a habit. We discuss our realizations and how changing our habits has paid off in a more happy and peaceful home. We also talk about habits and how they can be easily changed so that we don't fall into the negative rut we have learned from others along the way.
As always, we hope this podcast helps someone.

After a five-year break to raise kids, Ana is getting the urge to model for me again, and I couldn't be more excited. It will be different now because she has evolved, and there are stories to tell with pictures that weren't there five years ago. In this episode of the podcast, we talk about her modeling career, what I disliked about photography, how life has changed for us and how she has evolved. We enjoyed making this podcast and are excited to start shooting again.
I've included a small sampling of images we have shot together over the years. Ana is my wife so of course I love her and am proud of her accomplishments, but she is my favorite to work with because she is the most versatile and skilled model I have had the honor of photographing.

Early in 2020, the USA was locked down and quarantined. Two weeks to flatten the curve, they said, and I really wanted to believe that. Had I not been so naive, I could have made a fortune investing in services like zoom and other video conferencing software.
The business world pivoted, everything went online, and the term "working remotely" defined how things would get done in America and beyond for years to come. At first, it was a dream come true for many. But it didn't take long for people to realize what Ana and I have known for years; working from home and being productive is almost impossible.
There are too many distractions, too little motivation, and accountability, and it's too easy to develop unproductive habits unwittingly. We have learned the hard way to solve many of our problems related to working from home, so we share what we have learned in this episode.

As always, I hope what we say here is helpful to someone else.

In 2001 I was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and had an ejection fraction of 35. That means each time my heart pumped a beat, 35% of the blood in my heart would be squeezed into my circulatory system. Normal is between 55% and 70%. My heart was also severely enlarged. During hospitalization and extensive testing, I was told by the doctor that I would not survive beyond fifteen years, provided I stopped lifting weights. In his estimation, that was the source of my issues. He said if I did not stop, I would be dead within ten years. He said I would not be placed on a transplant list because, in his words, "you have done this to yourself."
In 2015 I walked out of the cardiologist's office on June 26. it was my birthday. He had just presented me with the results of a very in-depth two weeks of testing. He told me my ejection fraction was now 65. He said I had no detectible plaque in my circulatory system. He said my heart was a normal size and was functioning well with no abnormalities or concerns. He told me he didn't need to see me again unless any problems arose.
God gets all the credit for this one, but like all things God does in our lives, he requires faith and action on that faith from us first. He led Ana to take an approach that saved my life.
I am just telling my own story here. If you have health issues you should always consult a medical professional, and educate yourself so you understand the issues as best you can so you can make an informed decision. I am not recommending anyone else do what I did or didn't do.
This is a story about faith in God and proof that he still performs miracles today.
We make reference to the nutritional approach we took but it's too big to fit here but if you follow this link to the story on my website it's all there for you. Link to the story and nutritional plan on my website

Greg Hasberry's kidneys failed when he was in his forties. At the time, he was a healthy athlete, had no vices, and lived a responsible and productive life. He became dependent on dialysis to stay alive, but dialysis is not something a body is meant to do for the long term. After four and a half years of three to four treatments per week, it was wearing him down physically and mentally. His body was failing, he was on a list for a kidney transplant, but there had not been any suitable matches. He knew his life on earth was coming to an end, so he got his affairs in order, made provisions for his daughter to be cared for, and resigned himself to what he thought would be his fate.
During his entire illness, Greg never stopped caring for his daughter, his parents, or his family, and he ran his personal training business as usual. The extra-special service and care he is known for never wavered. His friends always saw his smile, heard his cheery, upbeat voice on the phone, and his kindness, patience, and genuine concern for the needs of others never waned.
One day Greg got a call from a guy he knew wanting to meet for coffee. Of course, Greg agreed despite his extreme fatigue and everything else that comes with the reality of his body shutting down and his life coming to an end. This guy needed him so he would be there.
The two men sat down, and the man offered to donate his kidney to save Greg's life.
In 2015 he had his transplant surgery and since then has taken on a life and a relationship with God that is inspiring.
His father, now 83 years old, is about to start dialysis this week. Greg will continue to be at his side while Mr. Hasberry fights his battle. I can only imagine how this must feel for both men.
In this episode of the podcast, Greg and I talk about his experience, his life post-transplant, and what his father being sick brings back for Greg. I am honored to present my friend Greg Hasberry, and I trust you will find him every bit as inspirational as I do. You can reach Greg at Gregoryhasberry3@icloud.com

Her unlikely journey to stardom on stage and notoriety as a globally recognized fitness model began after a discussion in the gym between us about her following in the footsteps of then Ms. Olympia Cory Everson. The seasoned warrior never hopes for someone untested at his side as he rides into battle. The new guy may look like a physical specimen, his freshly painted walls littered with certificates and diplomas, and his latest-greatest gear shiny and new. Yet, despite the promise of greatness, the full depth of a man's character is never known until tested by the prospect of losing it all.
Brian Tangi is one of those men that shares his thoughts with kind and well-measured words, but his eyes and presence hint of a thing far less gentle. He has faced the prospect of losing it all, more than once. Rather than shrink into darkness and let evil determine his path, Brian found the courage to stand up to his demons, forgive others for theirs, and do what it took to overcome.
He is my friend, the guy I want at my side when crap hits the fan because I know he will be there no matter what. He has taught me a great deal about being a Christian, a father, a husband, and a man, and he has done it in the most impactful way; by his example.
Brian Tangi and I kick off the 2022 Podcast season with a very real conversation about being a man, flawed just like everyone else, but courageously taking responsibility for change.

Six months ago, we took foster placement of a little boy named Cole. Yesterday we adopted him.
We adopted Cady and Emma earlier this year.
For the past four years, Ana and I have been foster parents. It's been life-changing. We have aged tremendously, and we have lived exceptionally. We have hurt like never before. And we have discovered a capability in ourselves and others of loving and being loved so completely and unconditionally that we never imagined possible.
Most of all, we have served God faithfully, made countless mistakes, but each day we evaluated, forgave, and asked forgiveness, then got up the next day determined to do better.
And today, we woke up, no longer raising someone else's children for them, but raising our own. It's a lot to take in. It's what we prayed for, and God answered those prayers.
Ana and I sit down to talk about the experience, some of the highs and lows, and moving forward.

I met Tanji Johnson in 2001 when she had just graduated from being an amateur athlete to the Professional Division of competitive fitness in the IFBB. She became an icon in the fitness industry, competing for 15 years as one of the very best, and at times, the very best in the world. As a photographer and journalist, I had the privilege of covering her career for fitness industry magazines and websites and witnessing some of the incredible highs and devastating lows she experienced along the way. Despite two typically career-ending injuries, she recovered and came back stronger and better than ever.
The approach she takes with life is the same she took with her athletic career, and because of that, she is immensely successful at everything she chooses to do.
I hope you find Tanji and her approach to facing difficulty inspiring. We all can most certainly use some inspiration right now.

Aging looks very different in 2020 than it did when I was growing up. The average 60-year-old man or woman looks and acts very differently than they did even a generation ago. Fitness is the culprit. That and eating healthier and living healthier lifestyles. Until now, however, finding applicable information about aging and staying fit has been challenging. Most of the available fitness information created is for a younger audience, and the information available doesn't address some of the biological changes those over 50 experience like changing hormones, changing digestion, and reduced recovery, for instance.
And the information available for those over 50 is not always applicable to non-sedentary types and indeed not committed athletes that function at a high level of fitness and capability.
Kevin Myles, Author of The Diet That Works, is our guest today, and we talk about his new project that just launched, The Fifty Plus Fit Club. Kevin is a well known trainer and qualitifed expert on nutriton and training and a 61 year old male elite athlete. In other words, the perfect man for the job.

As a father and a taxpayer, I can't help but look at the state of our world and ask myself who the heck raised these fools. My grandmother was the most significant influence in my life, and she was born in 1917 in the prairie province of Saskatchewan in Canada. She and my grandfather were farmers. They survived the "hungry thirties" as she called them and washed clothes with a washboard, fetched water from the dugout to cook and clean with, chopped wood to heat the house and stove, and a doctor was a day's ride away in a horse-drawn wagon.
They came face to face with survival each day, and the community around them pulled together, so no one starved, and all had the bare necessities. Manners were important, so civic pride and duty, hard work, integrity, and taking responsibility were the hallmarks of a good person.
Times have changed. But why have they changed?
Elaine Goodlad and I , or "Aunty Elaine" as she is called in our family, were raised by the same kind of people and come from the same neck of the woods. We sit down to talk about what we think went wrong and how Ana, and I are raising our kids and why.

Before 2020 I always thought of people who stored large caches of food and water, medical supplies, and other supplies and survival equipment as oddballs. After lining up to buy toilet paper and rationing squares when none could be found, I have changed my opinion. Being prepared by having some basic survival provisions and equipment stored away is just prudent. In the event of something catastrophic happening to a community, it's the socially responsible thing to do.
Security and personal protection expert Micheal Healea joins me on this show to talk about scenarios that quite possibly could happen and how to prepare so you and your family can survive a catastrophic event or disaster.

This year has kicked everyone's butt and some people much harder than others. Suicide is such a problem that the US National Library Of Medicine website posted an article titled Covid19-Suicides: A Global Psychological Pandemic. Ana and I talk about our circumstances and what we have learned about ourselves and each other that has helped us beat the hopelessness, frustration, and circumstantial depression so common in our country, and around the world.
As always, we hope to add something to your day that helps.

Alexi and Joli Irvine are sisters, professional dancers and models, and both are Vegas Showgirls. They have played many of the biggest shows on the strip, yet they remain grounded and are sweet and down to earth girls despite their ample time in the spotlight. When we visit, I often sit and marvel at their hyperspeed back-and-forth sibling banter, so I invited them to do a podcast with me to talk about dancing, performing, and being sisters.

Our eighth wedding anniversary came and went with little fanfare on the 8th of this month. Ana and I had dated four years before we married, we wanted to be sure. So with a strong love and twelve years of wedded bliss under our belts, it should have been a day we even wanted to celebrate. But we didn't. Not in the traditional way, at least.
This podcast is revealing. We talk about how our marriage was brought to the brink this year, and why. And we share the simple truth about how we turned things around. And with all the love that fills our home, we talk about the most painful reason why our anniversary was a quiet one this year.

Kimi Couture, the business executive, and entrepreneur, turned professional fighter, got into women's Mixed Martial Arts back when no one thought it would be successful. She was one of the pioneers, one of the original few professional female MMA fighters in the world, and while she didn't win every fight she had, she was tough as nails and one of the most entertaining and exciting professional MMA fighters, male or female, of that time.
We sat down to talk about those days, growing up tough on a ranch in Colorado, her very public celebrity life, and very public divorce from MMA legend Randy Couture, and finally where she is today.

This year has taught us a great deal about ourselves, our family and life and we will never live it the way we once did. It's infinitely better now. In the absence of all we knew due to covid and quarantine, we discovered what really makes us happy and what is most important. All of our dreams have changed, as have our goals, and our new life is much simpler than the one we were living before 2020.
Ana joins me for this show, the kids were napping, and we talk about those changes and how we are coming out on the other side of this a little battered but much better for the experience.

Rick DeLauter has dedicated the past 43 years of his life to serving his country, the United States Of America. His grandfather served in World War 1. His father and uncles served in World War II. And his oldest son, like him, also served in the military. After 22 years in the Army, Rick retired at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and has continued serving in other roles related to the military to this day. He is a guy that does that high-speed classified work throughout the world that is necessary to keep our country and interests safe and free. I think he is a hero and a man that all good men can learn from and pattern themselves behind.
At sixty-five years of age, he is the father of five-year-old Benjamin, who has Down Syndrome. His perspective on being a dad and Benjamin's dad challenge me to be better with my own children. He is a Christian and a man that comes from a mixed-race and mixed-culture home and sees nothing but the positives of that experience.
I had intentions of this podcast being a 30-minute show. I should have known better. We cut it short at an hour, and it was one of the fastest moving hours of my life. I could listen to Rick for days. He has formed his opinions based on his own experiences gleaned from a lifetime spent dealing with realities around the globe that most of us could never even imagine. He is a man I respect, and it was an honor to have him on the show.

Life. What is all of this for, and why and what is our purpose here? Inspired by the recent passing of a man we knew and respected deeply, we talk about our perspectives on what is essential, what isn't, and how important it is to evaluate where we are, where we are going, and make sure we are on the path to where we want to be. I close it out with a tip on how you can make sure that you are where you need to be.
As always, we hope this adds something positive to your life and helps in some way.

Ana and I are together 24/7 right now and like a lot of couples, it's not an easy thing to do. When things got contentious we had to make a choice to either let it escalate or sort out the issues and make our marriage a success. That realization was the catalyst for tremendous growth and change and what we learned became the foundation for how we now deal with all adversity. As with every podcast Ana and I do together, we hope this helps others that may not be doing so well with all the stress on their marriage right now.

This has been a long time coming but we filed papers recently and today we got a court date for the adoption of Crystal, our former foster son's biological mother. When we told our family and friends they didn't understand why. We talk about why in this episode and it's for the most simple of reasons. We also talk about our business, how quarantine and Covid have impacted it, and what we are doing about it. Doing the right thing because it is the right thing to do is important and we do our best to live our life in a way that reflects those values. We aren't perfect by a long shot, but we have a perfect record of doing our best, learning from our mistakes, and making something good from what we have left to work with.
As always, I hope this podcast helps someone, inspires someone, and shows someone what is possible.

Quarantine is over, and life is getting busier again. We didn't adjust very well initially, but a few weeks into this, we figured out that we had to figure it out and find a better way. We solved some issues by becoming more efficient, but the most significant improvements came when we changed how we thought about and approached our days, and the things and people in it.
Today, we are busier than ever before, but happier, more productive, and our family is stronger, happier, and healthier. This episode, we talk about how we did it.

Change is a thing few people enjoy or suffer well. Thus far, 2020 has been about nothing but change, fear, loss, and instability, and it's been hard on everyone. Ana Tigre is back this week, and we talk about change, how each of us deals with it, and how we have managed some of the most challenging days. We don't have the answer to controlling change. But we do know what worked for us to keep our family strong, healthy, and improving every day despite all the change.
As always, we hope that the lessons we have learned will help others.

She was born into the gang life and lived it to its fullest for thirty years before being inspired to make a change. She did the bold thing, the thing she never imagined she could ever do. She earned her GED, and then later, her certification as a Phlebotomist and a Medical Assistant graduating with honors. But after graduation, the job prospects didn't come through, and then a global pandemic and quarantine hit, so any job was out of the question.
How many people would give up? How about an African-American woman that grew up in the gang life and knew nothing else until three years ago? Would she walk away from her dreams and return to her old life of crime and violence?
Crystal made a choice. She is working on her bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice.
She joins me on this podcast to talk about all of it. The thoughts and feelings and her darkest moments and why she won't be going back to the life she left. She is a remarkable woman that inspires me daily because she takes full responsibility for her life and choices. Because of that, she has the power to change whatever she wishes about herself.

Missy Posterli is on the management team of one of the most famous nightclubs in Las Vegas, she is an exceptional model, and a mom. Her life was rock-solid until Covid-19 came along and extended quarantine has put her career on hold and in question. She was born and raised in Youngstown, Ohio, a place decimated by the death of US Steel and frequented by mobsters and other social parasites yet it's a place she is proud to be from for the values and character It provided her. Most of all she learned to get back up, with a vengeance, when life knocks you down. Missy and I talk about Youngstown, growing up, and how she is spending her time on quarantine and what her next moves will be.

Marriage is a thing like getting a puppy or buying a boat. If you want it to make you happy and give you years of joy, it requires constant care and maintenance. We call it "work" when we talk about maintaining a marriage, but maybe a better approach, for something we wanted so badly at one point, would be to think of it as caring for, building, or even enjoying our marriage. A bad marriage can destroy lives. A well-maintained one can be a beacon of light to the world, and the generations that come after you, not to mention, be the most gratifying endeavor one could embark upon in life.
Ana and I spend a great deal of time caring for our marriage because number one, we promised we would when we took our vows and because so much happiness, security, love, and goodness pours into our lives when we do.
Love, because it is a gift, is best measured by the one receiving it than the one giving. So I regularly ask Ana if I am hitting the mark or, despite my good intentions, falling short. Only she knows if I am making her happy, and the only way for me to measure my efforts is by asking her.
We start this episode talking about coffee and some other odds and ends, and then I put her on the spot. I asked her to talk about five that I do that make her happy, or that would make her more pleased if I changed how I do them.

Five years ago, Greg Hasberry, an otherwise healthy and vibrant young man, was slowly reaching the end of his life. His kidneys had failed, he had been on dialysis for some time, and his body was giving indications that it just wouldn't be able to keep functioning much longer. He is a single parent, and the only thing that kept him going on the toughest days was his daughter and wanting to be there for her.
Then one day, he got a call. It was a man that wanted to meet with him. In the middle of a local coffee shop, that man told Greg he wanted to be his kidney donor.
The memories are still vivid for Greg. In this podcast, he shares some of those thoughts, fears, and feelings during his slow walk toward impending death and then the kindness of a Christian man he barely knew that gave him his life back.

For more than two months now our kids have been glued to our sides every minute of the day and frankly, they get sick of us from time to time and become hard to handle. There are few places we can take them and few things they can do so our parenting skills have been tested to the limit. And almost every parent on the planet is going through some version of this.
For some this is not a small problem so for this podcast, we talk about some ideas that work for us, some concepts that may seem different but we are getting amazing results with them leading to a more harmonious home environment. As always, we hope this helps someone.

The walls are closing in; money is tight, you can't get a second to yourself, jobs and businesses are unsure or already lost, the news is all doom and gloom, and the world is angry and fed up. About then, your wife, or husband, or kids look at you the wrong way, and you feel like you are going to lose it. Domestic violence is on the rise, and so are bankruptcies, and soon the divorce rate and suicide rate statistics will be made public (when there is no political advantage to keeping them quiet), and they will be alarming. Getting along with the people in your house is the greatest challenge many of us face each day.
We are quarantined with four adults, four toddlers, two dogs, and Ana and me. Our business is suffering catastrophically. Our savings are gone. I am working as a security guard to keep food on the table for all of us. There isn't much left when the dust settles each payday. We have more than enough reason to be on edge, and we have been many times in the past three months.
But we have taken a step back and realized that what we do have is each other. And that this quarantine circus will come to an end, and we have plans to recover when it does. We also have our faith in God that we will all be healthy and fed and together. But we have to do the work. We have to solve the problem.
Ana and I talk about how we are doing that and the success we are having. Our home is full of love and happiness, and while quarantine is extremely difficult, I can proudly say that our children love it, and we are a much happier and closer family than ever before.
We hope that you find something valuable in this podcast, especially if you are struggling.

Within a couple of hours of me posting our last podcast where I essentially said to Ana that I thought our family was complete and we were not going to have any more kids, we got a phone call about a little boy that needed a foster home. After we heard his story and his circumstances, it was an immediate yes from both Ana and me.
We tell the story and talk about why we know this is the right decision in this episode. And I finish the show by explaining why having four toddlers at 60 years old is the best thing that has ever happened to me.

Time. We have plenty of it right now, and many people are spending theirs feeling afraid, frustrated, angry, and worried. Justifiably so, but it doesn't feel very good, and we do have the option to think about whatever we want. Dreaming, for instance, or planning for what you would do if you could do anything in the world. Daydreaming, in other words, and it's a very healthy and positive escape from the day to day challenge of quarantine. You might discover a forgotten passion, or you might realize that your dream is not so impossible after all and you start making plans for the life you always wanted. .
You have the time.

I think it's a safe bet to say we have all, even us optimists and otherwise positive types, had enough of this whole quarantine business. Each day the carnage grows consisting of lost businesses, lost jobs, lost fortunes, lost marriages, and lost lives. We can only control what we can control, so Ana and I take a break from the misery to talk about the positives that have come from this mess.

This extended quarantine is really getting to some people, while others are doing better because of it. I saw a post from someone basically chewing everyone out that was posting positive and helpful messages about how they are dealing with it. It was an emotional response to the stress of quarantine and illogical, but is there a better way to deal with it?

When Ana and I met I was a photographer and she was a professional athlete and model. We travelled the country together and every chance we got she modeled for me. We did what we wanted when we wanted and were glued at the hip and happy about it. We started raising kids three and a half years ago and that was the end of our marriage being a priority. Kids came first, then work to pay for kids and Ana and I lived in the same house and loved each other, but rarely got time together to do the things that were important to us. One of the many positives of being quarantined is that we have more time than we had before and we decided to spend it on each other. Since then our marriage has taken a very strong upswing and realizing how important that time is to a happy and successful family, we made a promise to always invest time in each other and doing things together that we love to do.

If you told me six months ago that I could have two months off to do whatever I wanted I wouldn't choose to sit in front of the TV watching the news, or watching the news any other way. I'd aggressively invest that time in making my circumstances better. So I made a decision to do a bunch of things for my family, and when this ordeal is over, I will be very thankful for the time I was blessed with to re-set and build a much better future. If you live on social media and the news it's either the end of this Corona Virus or the end of Mankind, depending on who you listen to. In the end we can only speculate on both outcomes at this point and so it's a waste of good time and energy. What we can do is use this unprecedented time to make our lives better, chase some dreams we put on the back burner, or learn something we always wanted to learn so that when this comes to an end, one way or the other, it was time well spent.Ana and I talk about what we and some others are doing to take full advantage of the time.Brought to you by Silver Bullet Anti-Aging This podcast is brought to you by BlessedBodywear.com You can subscribe to the Goodlad Unscripted Podcast on iTunes or Spotify or Google Play My Website - Facebook - Instagram - Twitter - YouTube and thank you for Subscribing to my channel

You cannot have a meaningful relationship with anyone without, at some point, having differences. If not resolved, those differences can tear loving and meaningful relationships apart. Elaine Goodlad joins the podcast as a special guest this episode. Her mother passed away a few months ago and it's been an emotional roller coaster since. We talk candidly about the relationship she had with her mother and the impact that had on her life, how she feels about her parents and what she has discovered while processing this chapter of her life. Everyone is affected by their upbringing, some good and some not so good, but Elaine has discovered a way to reconcile it all and passes that wisdom and experience on. We had big plans for 2020, and with January almost out of the way, we haven't accomplished any of it. It is high time for Ana and me to sit down for a talk about procrastination. We didn't expect to learn what we did about each other while doing the podcast, but when we did, the solutions to our procrastination problems became crystal clear. As always, we hope the lessons we learned help someone else. Ana switched to a plant-based diet a few months ago and it's been working really well for her but I'm happy eating what I eat now although I have added a lot of fruit and vegetables to my diet and feel much better for it. While big differences like that can be a problem for some couples or families, we manage it well, not just because I accept and respect her choices, but that she also accepts and respects mine. Growth, change or evolution is inevitable in any long-term relationship and if you aren't careful in how you deal with it, it can cause people to grow apart. Ana and I talk about her choice to be a vegetarian and mine to continue eating meat, and how we deal with differing lifestyles and choices in a marriage and family. As always, I hope this helps someone. Fitness and Glamour model, Life Coach, Fitness Coach, and Fitness Star Stephanie Billings just went through a divorce and finds herself at the beginning again, not at the bottom. It's been said that one's perspective of their circumstances is more important than the circumstances themselves. Stephanie is notoriously happy, positive and despite losing it all, she sees herself at the beginning of something truly wonderful. Painful experiences can be viewed as a lesson and opportunity for growth or we can choose to be victims and Stephanie is no victim. The woman that sat down to do this podcast has grown years since we saw each other last a few months ago. I'm 60 years old and won't be done paying for kids going to college until I am in my 80's so staying healthy and youthful is not about vanity, it's about living and living well so I can be the best dad, best husband, and best man I can possibly be for as long as the good Lord gives me. It took change, and it takes work, but the payoff has been well worth it and honestly, the changes feel so good I never want to go back. Ana and I talk about staying healthy, looking after our bodies and minds so we can enjoy life and not just exist waiting for it to end. I hope this helps someone in some way to do the same. Frustration and reaching the end of your patience when raising three toddlers is inevitable, but my wife Ana and I have learned that raising your voice may be a way of regaining temporary control but it doesn't solve the problem, it only makes it worse. Since becoming foster parents three years ago we have poured ourselves into learning about a child's developing brain, dealing with traumatized kids, and we have been on a continuous path of self-evaluation and growth. We still get frustrated and run out of patience but we have learned to deal with it in a much more productive way and our kids are flourishing and growing and becoming much better at everything because of it. If you are a parent we hope that us sharing our experience will be helpful. We acknowledge that we don't have all the answers and it may turn out that none of this podcast benefits you but we hope it helps someone. You roll out of bed and look at your phone. There's a notification there and you click on it and suddenly you are thrust into a world of drama and injustice, political outrage, or someone else's tragic story. It only took a couple minutes to read but long after you set the phone down your mind is racing and just like squeezing a dropper of blood into your glass of water, your brain is inexorably stained with drama and stress. While the rest of your world is looking at daisies and sunshine, you are on level nine and for the life of you, you can't figure out why you feel so stressed. It affects your work, relationships, motivation, and in the long run, your health and happiness. We have to be the gatekeepers of what and who we subject ourselves to as it has a drastic impact on our lives. Ana Tigre and I sit down to talk about how starting our day by loading up on everyone else's stress has impacted our family and what we chose to do about it. My Wife Ana Tigre decided she wanted to come out of retirement after nine years to compete in a fitness contest. The difference now is that we have three kids, two dogs, and a very demanding business to run. She was feeling guilty about the sacrifice and time spent so she could compete in something that she felt she alone benefited from. But is it only her that benefits? Ana was born and raised in Brazil and I come from the prairie province of Saskatchewan in Canada. She is a fascinating woman and she puts all the color and excitement in my work-until-you-drop life and I bring things to her world that she appreciates. But when the stress levels go up as they tend to do in every marriage, some of those differences become flash points for conflict. We realized that no matter where you are from there will be cultural differences simply because married couples are raised in different families and each family has it's own culture. Rather than be frustrated, we work to understand each other and our cultures then create our own family culture based on what we need. In this episode Ana and I get into it, she drank a lot of coffee this morning, and we work through the examples and the issues and talk about what works. Episode 51 Ana and I are overwhelmed most day, every day actually, with three toddlers in the foster system, two dogs, two businesses, and a marriage. The brochure said there would be balance, the brochure lied. So here we are in way over our heads and wondering how the heck we got here, but more so, how the heck are we going to dig our way out. We planned a business/family trip to Los Angeles and San Diego two weeks ago and we were blessed with less business to do than we thought at first. In the end we had 4 days of family time, very little else, and we were able to deconstruct our lives and find some solutions to our dilemma. Ana and I sit down to share our experience and how it affected our marriage, business and family and the solutions we found that have made a monstrous positive difference. We hope it helps someone else out there because we know we aren't the only ones. Elaine Goodlad and I brought our 20 year marriage to an end many years ago but we did it in a strange way. We didn't fight over anything, we didn't hate each other, and we didn't pay any lawyers even a single red penny. We were friends when we first met over 30 years ago and we are much closer friends now. I am re-married and she is living with the love of her life in Florida but we consider each other family. She spends part of the year on the west coast and when she does she stays with us. Our kids call her Auntie and recently we decided we would just tell people we were brother and sister because most people can't wrap their minds around the fact that we don't hate each other. She and my wife are best friends and I have known her man long before she ever met him and I have nothing but the deepest respect for him and consider him a friend. We sat down to talk about the old days and we did plenty of laughing. If there is a moral to this story it would be that things don't usually just happen to us, we play a role in most of our circumstances. How we choose to deal with those circumstances determines the effect they have on our lives more than anything else. Episode 49 Difficult times can either break you or make you stronger but it's how you react to the circumstances and not the circumstances themselves that determine your happiness, success and peace. Mike Tyson once said that every fighter has a plan until he gets punched in the face. I find that philosophical advice can make tremendous sense until the crap hits the fan then the advice itself does little to pull us out of the mud storm. Ana and I have been in a mud storm for a couple years now to be honest, and all the helpful quotes and wisdom hasn't helped much to be honest. Last Saturday I was laying in bed and sick with a very high fever. I spent 48 hours just thinking and at the end of it all, I made some decisions. I needed more than a quote, I needed some tools, some new habits that would help me see and deal with my circumstances differently. We sat down to share that with you. I hope it helps. Episode 48: You can read this related article about the girls coming home. Last October the two little girls that we took in as foster kids moved to live with a former foster family that wanted to adopt them. We did all we could to help make that happen in a timely fashion but the girls were with us for seven months. It was very hard to see them go but we found peace in believing we had done the right thing. We never expected to see them again. But God had a different plan. A short time ago we got a call from the Department of Family Services and we were told that things didn't work out and the girls were coming back to Las Vegas. They wanted to know if we were interested in taking them. Without hesitation we said yes. Being a foster parent can be very challenging. Every child that comes into care has been traumatized in some way at some level so you have to be prepared to deal with the usual stuff that pops up when you raise children as well as the other stuff these poor little souls have been through. While our girls have been through a lot, we are prepared and more than willing to give them a life they will love and flourish in. The icing on the cake is that these girls are adoptable so after the mandatory waiting period, we will begin proceedings to give them the forever family they so badly want and need. One of the biggest problems couples have is putting up with the differences in personality and habits. It's been a flash point for us, like most people, but the sermon in church yesterday opened my eyes to a better way of dealing with it than the way I have been doing it. My wife Ana is less rigid, more spontaneous, and takes things as they come. She is always smiling, happy and never in a rush to get anything done. She would rather sit with me and snuggle if she thinks I need it than go get groceries for instance. I like to be organized, efficient, and to have a tight plan, with contingencies, so everything runs smoothly and efficiently so the work gets done and we can enjoy snuggle time without the stress of things left undone. I love the way she is and don't want to change one single thing about her. But she drives me crazy sometimes and I get very frustrated by things left undone or not done to my standard. Those personality traits and habits that put all the fun and color into our relationship and that I absolutely love about her, make running an efficient and successful business and household very challenging. My color between the lines thinking is very helpful when managing a business and a household but it's Ana that talks me down out of the tree and brings out the fun and playful side of me. She puts all the life and love in our home. Like I said, I don't want her to change but I do want things to change. I just realized after a sermon in Church on Sunday that we will reach a much better place faster if I stop trying to change her ways and just step up and do the things for our family that I do well and let her do the things she does best. I need to spend my time appreciating her and building her up. If she does the same for me then we end up much happier and each of us will be more motivated to learn new things and get better at areas of our life that need growth. This is a "spirited" conversation between Ana and I but as you all will agree at the end of the show, I am right. Except when I am horribly wrong. Control. We feel helpless, frustrated, angry, and stressed when we have none, yet if you are like me, letting go of control is often the solution to being stressed-out and unhappy. After a challenging two years of rapid growth, which translates into a lot of challenges and falling on my face more times than I can count; Ana and I are coming out the other side. We have picked up a lot of wisdom, but most of all we have learned to tell the difference between the things we can control and the things we cannot, and doing the things we can control to the best of our ability, and letting go of the rest. I hope this helps somebody. After talking to a young couple that have chosen to break away from the conventional path they were on to chase their dreams, we were reminded of the troubles one faces in doing that. Oddly, the biggest challenge is not necessarily making the change, it's losing the support of loved ones and friends that can't see or don't believe in your vision. Ana and I have both been there and despite what others said, we pushed forward and have no regrets for doing so. We hope this podcast helps someone else that wants to follow their dreams. Leonard Strandberg is a very unusual man. "I've always done it this way" or "this is just how I am take it or leave it" and "This is how I was raised" are all things most of us have said at one point or another when our habits get in the way of our happiness with someone else. It may be a marriage or relationship, a job, or just the rapid evolution of technology. Habits that were formed in the past that may have been effective then may not be effective now and may be destroying the things and people most important to you. Like most people, I am that way but I read a book that really opened my eyes to how the brain works and specifically how our brain creates and stores habitual behavior. I realized that if something in my life is getting in the way of my happiness, productivity, or relationships then I have the ability to re-program that habit into something that makes my life, and the lives of my loved ones, much better. Everyone has a bad day but when we catch ourselves chronically searching for the sliver of misery in the apple pie of our lives then we may want to check our thinking. I realized that I was doing exactly and caught myself when someone took the time to see some positive in my life and share it with me. The feeling was incredible and my very next thought was that I need to start doing that for others I care about and do it every day. Your brain can do a lot of things but it can't wallow in misery and basque in the warm glow of positive thought at the same time. Misery is a choice then of which thoughts we ruminate over in our minds. There is an upside in virtually every story so it's just a matter of finding it and thinking about that rather than anything else. Once I started doing that my outlook changed and not surprisingly, so did my situation. The people around me absorb what I put into their day and when it became more positive, they changed too. Ana Tigre and I talk about that revelation in this show, as well as the importance of looking after yourself so you can be at your very best. I met Mark Smith in 2004. He was an F16 Pilot with the United States Air Force Thunderbirds, and I was doing a story on him and a Thunderbird Crew Chief. We have been friends since that time, and I have watched him progress through his career from Thunderbird Pilot to White House Fellow and Special Assistant to the Director of NASA, to F16 advanced combat tactics trainer, to Southwest Airlines Pilot and UFC Referee. If you are a fight fan, you have probably seen him on TV. He is a father of four amazing kids - and he is African American, which I only mention because his skin color has put up roadblocks for him along his career path. At 49 years of age, he is living his dream life yet he continues to dream of more and greater challenges. Yesterday was a holiday so Ana Tigre and I did what we love to do most when we have some time together, she modeled for me. The photographs were for a layout in the next issue of my digital magazine and while we had an awesome day working together, when we looked at the pictures Ana didn't feel like she had done her best work. We talk about why in this podcast and how that same approach in every other aspect of our lives results in the same sub-par performance. On October 26th Crystal Ellis, the biological mother of our foster son Jesse, joined me on the podcast to talk about her decision to walk away from a life of gangs, drugs, crime, and violence. It was candid, honest and raw and while the decision has been months in the making, going public for the first time was a huge step for her but a step she is proud of making. Ten days later she joins me on the podcast again to talk about her week and the setbacks she had. While setbacks and bad decisions are often seen as failures, Crystal is processing what happened very differently than she would have in the past. What she is drawing from the experience is proof that she is moving in the right direction. In the past 24 hours Ana and I have stepped away from everything so we could focus on our business, marriage and our lives and we it all from the ground up. Not because it's broken, we are doing it so it can be so much better and have the life of our dreams. In business and life if you are standing still you are sliding backward so if we allow ourselves to be comfortable and stop looking for ways to be better at all of it, we start down the road to failure. It may sound a little radical, driven maybe, but it's been the secret to rising from nothing to where we are, and it will propel us to where we want to be. Crystal Ellis is the mother of my foster son. He is still in our care and she still wants to get him back. I first met her three weeks after she was released from jail and to say there were some issues between us would be like saying the Empire State Building was tall. A year and a half later we sit down to talk, openly and honestly, about where she was at and why and the ground we have covered since that first time we met. This interview is honest, straightforward, and to the point. It's raw. And it's just the beginning. It's been almost a month since I retired and I still haven't done any of the things I wanted to do because the days just run into each other taking care of "little" things. Ana and I sat down to talk about all the things we could do that would be fun, sort of a mini-bucket list of things I want to start doing right away. Things like riding my skateboard more. I retired from professional...everything I was doing, at the end of September this year. I had big plans and dreams, but three weeks into it I haven't done anything I said I would. Sitting on top of a mountain this past Saturday, waiting for the sunrise, it dawned on me that it wasn't the million and one distractions I was blaming that was keeping me from doing what I wanted to do, it was my expectations that I had to adjust. Not to expect less of myself, but to expect more and hold myself to the promises I made by adjusting my priorities. This week is a whole new week, and you can expect to see a new podcast each day from Monday to Friday. Ana and I bat this one around covering work, relationships, and realizing your dreams. I hope you enjoy it and I hope it helps someone. A couple weeks ago we did a podcast about how having kids and running our own business has had a negative impact on our marriage. The love is still there but we are so busy and so tired at the end of the day that there has been no time for romance. After we recorded that podcast we took a step back, looked at ourselves, and made changes. Not huge ones, just little ones that will add up and that we can do every day. It's working so well so we wanted to share what we did. Our sincere purpose for doing that is to help others that may be in the same spot we were. One year ago my Uncle Leonard lost his left leg below the knee in a motorcycle accident. He has spent the past twelve months healing and learning how to get around with a prosthesis. The accident happened in Phoenix. He travels there from his home in Melfort, Saskatchewan, Canada each winter to avoid the bitter prairie weather back home. He stopped by to visit us in Vegas this week on his way to Phoenix. He is getting around pretty well. He bought a Harley Trike and hauled it on a trailer behind his truck. I invited him to join me on the podcast to talk about the wreck and life in Saskatchewan. This morning Ana and I had an honest talk about our marriage, our business and our lives in general. It's been almost two years now since Jesse came to live with us, seven months since Emma and Cady blessed our family. It has been very trying at times, we have made mistakes but we learned from them and we have gotten better at everything, including our marriage, but it's not what it once was and we want some of that back. We talked about what we want and need, what we want our marriage to be, and our lives, and we made a plan to get ourselves there. It will take some work, some adjusting, we will need to get better at some things, and we will have to start paying attention to details. It's the small things that change a marrriage, grains of sand, either for the better or worse. It's a choice, and taking responsiblity. After we talked we got out of our van and walked into the shop and into the recording studio and shared our thoughts, raw and unscripted. We hope it helps anyone else out there struggling with the same things we do. The older I get the more I realize that love is everything and I am not prepared to lose the best thing that ever happened to me. On September 30th I was sitting at my desk at home when it came to me. I'm done. I decided to retire. Not because I'm tired or fed up or worn out. I decided to pull the pin so I can shoot the pictures, write the stories and make the video that I want to make as often as I wish so I can make some good use of all the years of experience.Ana and I recap my working years, the twists, turns and other stuff I haven't talked about before. This show is a little longer than usual, but hopefully you think it's worth it. This isn't the end as much as it is a beginning. I hope you will join me for the ride. I'm blessed to be married to a fashion designer and former professional fashion consultant that helps me figure out what I'm not supposed to wear - which was most of my wardrobe when I met her - but there are a log of guys out there past their thirties that are suddenly single and have no idea what to wear to be attractive and meet someone new. Ana comes to the rescue in this show and explains in very simple terms how to create your look. Ana Tigre joins me to talk about being foster parents of three toddlers at age 59(me) and 43(her) and we come clean about the hard times as well as how we turned them into good times. Raising kids is never easy and dealing with traumatized kids adds a dense level of complexity but the challenge forced us to evaluate, learn and do things better. Today we are happy to say things have smoothed out, or as smooth as they can get with two two year olds and a three year old. We had a fun visit and talked openly about the ups and downs and why we decided to be foster parents. She held noting back in this interview and answered all the tough questions most professionals either don't know about or don't want to answer. In my opinion most men past 40 years of age need to understand Hormone Replacement Therapy rather than cling to myths and mis-understandings. The health and life benefits are many and the risks, if managed properly by a professional, are minimal if any at all.If you were every curious about Hormone Replacement Therapy for men or women, you should listen to this podcast. I was born and raised a meat and potato eating man's man and it almost killed me. Ana Tigre, my hippe wife as I jokingly call her, sat beside me as I lay in my hospital bed for five days as I lay there just one bad day away from a fatal heart attack or stroke. I was in congestive heart failure and the solution I had been told was a transplant and a life on medication. Ana wasn't content with that news so she spent her time there quietly researching how to deal with my health issues using food along with some lifestyle changes. A couple years later I walked out of my Cardiologists office on my 57th birthday with a clean bill of health and a very strong and normal heart and vascular system. Ana joins me on this episode to talk about what it took to change my way of thinking and be open to new ideas about my food and lifestyle, and the changes we made that saved my life. Today I contunue to eat things that make my body operate at it's very best and I have never felt better. I will never go back to that old way of thinking now that I know how much better and longer my life can be by simply thinking about the food I eat and understanding the bad, and the good, that food can do to my body and health. Jennifer Thompson, Co-Founder of The Nspire Sports League, is the first female CEO in Physique Sports. Ironically, the industry is dominated by female competitors but until now men have been the brains and brawn at the wheel. Two months after accepting the position Jen is steamrolling over the status quo by re-building her organization from the ground up with an even greater focus on the competitor and fan experience as "they are our clients and we are here to serve them" Jen has said. I didnt go easy on Jen during this interview, despite our friendship, as she said she wanted to answer all of my questions, easy and hard, and expected me to provide a powerful interview that answered as many questions as possible that fans and clients would have of her. My assessment: This is a no joke woman and a very capable and driven CEO. Jen Thompson is someone every woman should listen to and every athlete competiting in physique sports should want to compete in the organization she is now fully responsible for. Motivation, like the wind, shifts from this to that and makes staying on track with fitness, or anything else, the biggest challenge to reaching goals. Tom Richardson, author, athlete and motivator, contends that we don't lose motivation, our motivation just shifts to different things. This show is all about motivation, momentum and goals and Ana Tigre and I discuss the problems that derail our progress and offer some ideas that may help you stay on track. www.GoodladUnscripted.com

The brave souls that volunteer to put themselves in harms way to serve our nation doing things hat most of the people reading this could not fathom; must return home at some time, God willing, and integrate back into society. Transitioning from a world of complete self-sacrifice to another that is abundantly self-serving can be a severe shock. While you are deployed you miss home, when you are home you miss being deployed. When your time in the service is over, there is only home and even though home is where you want to be, it can be a formidable transition. TJ Jaimes, former Army Green Beret with 5 - 8 month deployments to the middle-east talks about his time in the military, and the transition to life back home. If you know someone that has served, my hope is that this interview will give you some insight into the challenges these returning warriors face and how you can welcome them home without triggering the hard stuff they want to leave behind. www.GoodladUnscripted.com
