Chief executive Avan Lee says Plumtree completed his deal, along with assistant coach Jason Holland before the season got underway.
"Since that time, Plum has already taken a much closer interest in our contracting of players and in our development so that's a natural progession."
Lee is adamant John Plumtree is the man to lead the franchise forward and says there was no influx of CVs on his desk.
"I think most people would have probably predicted that Plum would have taken over. That's what we've always talked, that's what Boydy and Plum have always taked about t but if we weren't performaing that wou;dn't have been a fait accompli either."
The rest of Plumtree's backroom staff is yet to be revealed, with the remainder of the coaching staf (except Holland) off contract.
