Central High School Principal Nancy Rousseau relayed to families via email that the total lockdown was lifted around 11:40 a.m. The lockdown was put in place for about an hour while the Little Rock Police Department and federal authorities searched the area for a homicide suspect.

LRPD spokesperson Mark Edwards said that the lockdown was lifted as there is no longer a threat in the area. He said that an arrest was not made, and the investigation is still ongoing.

Rousseau told families that Dunbar Middle School and Stephens Elementary were also in lockdown during the search. She said that students missed the first lunch period, and the day’s schedule will be adjusted.

Authorities were looking for Tyler Bland, a 15-year-old suspected in a murder at 6200 Colonel Glenn Road on December 26, 2022.
