Text: I Peter 3:1-7

FCF: We often struggle having godly marriages.

Prop: Because honoring people and fearing God governs the marital relationship, wives and husbands must obey the Lord’s instruction for their roles.

Last week as I studied this passage, I was making conclusions that I did not find confirmed in any commentary that I own. You all know that on a normal week that wouldn’t necessarily stop me from breaking with the commentators to interpret a passage differently. Each time I do that though, I need to make sure I am confident in my conclusion, because I don’t want to teach something that the bible doesn’t say. Well, last week with my covid addled mind– I had exactly zero confidence in my conclusions. This was one factor in doing the reset Sunday last week.

But going back to my notes this week with a clearer head, it appears that even though my flesh was weak, the Holy Spirit was strong. The Spirit this week gave me the confidence I needed to put this unique interpretation forward.

I am in I Peter chapter 3. I’ll start reading in verse 1 and I am reading from the NET which you can follow in the pew bible on page 1366.
