John chapter three is one that fills us with hope. It contains the most astonishing revelation that God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten son. God has an undying and never-ending love for all of us. The story in John 3 begins with Nickodemus, who was a wealthy man. He was a pharisee who had dedicated himself to the learning and interpretation of God’s laws. Nicodemus was a wealthy, powerful man in the Jewish religious circles. He is a man who is looking for answers and comes to Jesus by night to try to get his questions answered. Religion had given him much knowledge about God, but it had never let him experience God. Nickodemus knew that he was missing something. Nickodemus knew that he needed to change something, but he did not know how to work it out. We spend a lot of time trying to work it out ourselves. Nickodemus finally realized that is true in our own lives; We cannot work it out, and we have to go to someone who knows how to work it out. So many times, some questions cause us agony and keep us up at night. The answer is to go to God for the solution. God has a remedy for our confusion. God knows how to work it out.
