Nine-Eleven was an event that is indelibly etched in people. One of the stories from that terrible time is the rescue dogs who searched for bodies in the rubble. The handlers observed that the dog became lethargic after a time. They came to realize that the dogs were depressed because they had lost hope of finding someone alive. Even a dog has to have hope to keep going. We can live a few days without food. We can live a few seconds without air, but we cannot live long without hope. The bible tells three us things that endure: Faith, hope, and love. We must have those things to survive. This pandemic has turned our world upside down. None of us could have imagined how our lives have changed. The news is full of violence, fear, politics, and uncertainty. People who consume the constant news cycle get a steady diet of gloom, doom, and fear. We can easily become overcome with fear and allow that to drive our mood and outlook on life. Is living in the fear of the future what God wants for His people? The bible says no! We are a people of hope. Our hope is not based on earthly things, but on the One who sits on the circle of the earth. Our hope is in Jesus. Our hope is that our world will experience a revival and a reawakening to God. Hope is vitally important to our well being. Our life is not built on what happens next week, o next month. Our life is built on what God built eons ago.
