The Boston Red Socks had not been to the world series in 86 years. This long drought had come to be known as the curse of the bambino. After a come from behind win in game 4 of the divisonal play off series, they find them selves down 3-1 in the series. They began to ask themselves "Why not us" Someone would win game 5 and game 6, why not them? With this they went on to win that series and ultimately the world series breaking the 86 year curse. Bro. Long shares the story of the leapers sitting outside the gate. They realized that they could sit there and die, or they could go to the army camp and seek help. They realized that they could either die or be blessed; but they wondered, why not us? In every service, it is possible that someone will be blessed, why not us? God wants to pour out his blessings and someone will receive them; why not us? If someone is going to make it, why not us? In Joshua, we read the story of a battle. Joshua knew that if the son went down, that they would lose the battle. He prayed to God to stop the sun. He was desperate. He knew that someone would win that battle and he ask: Why not us? God answered that prayer. The bible tells us that never before, and never since, has such a thing happened, but God answered Joshua's prayer with a miracle that honored his faith. If it is going to happen, why not today.

In Mark 5, we read of of a woman who had suffered with a blood disorder for many years. She came to find Jesus and only wanted to touch the hem of His garment. She was healed by her faith, and Jesus asks "Who touched me?" This woman had exhausted all of her options and did not know where else to turn. She knew that Jesus could heal, and she asks "why not me?" She was weak and pushed trough a crowd to find Him. Someone was going to be healed that day, why not her? The touch healed her, but her faith made her whole.

Many will the answer the why not me question with "I am not worthy" Jesus came for the sick, not the healed. Jesus came for the broken not the whole. Jesus came for the sinner, not the saved. Jesus wants to save, to bless, to heal to make whole. He is going to do that for someone; Why not us?

In the new year, God wants to bless, to heal and to restore. He wants to visit revival upon His church. We are commanded to go and reach a lost world that is hungry for salvation. Someone must reach them, why not us?
