A new residential centre for people with eating disorders, set to open next April, already has a lengthy waiting list. The Recovered Living NZ centre north of Christchurch has been established by Kristie Amadio, with philanthropic funding. Kristie herself has recovered from a severe eating disorder but says she was unable to get the care she needed in New Zealand, and ended up going into a residential centre in Los Angeles at a cost of nearly $2000 a day. She hopes the centre, set to open in April, will help people like herself. But she says she's already overwhelmed with enquiries.
