It always amazes me how David Matthews hooked up with the Godfather James Brown back in the 1970. I am sure it was the groove that brought them together…and they continued to create some of the most amazing funk ever. Beside his work with James Brown, David Matthews played important role in laying out the foundation of jazz-funk and fusion. His work for CTI, Kudu, his solo projects and his collaborations with other artists are legendary. He intertwined between jazz and funk which made his music and his work as producer and arranger highly regarded.
