I am grateful that someone was open to the inspiration of identifying body parts and how they relate to emotions and beliefs. I have found metaphysical meanings to be a helpful confirmation or second witness of choices I am making that are keeping me stuck.
The scriptures say the body is a temple, a dwelling place for the spirit. We build temples as a place where God’s spirit can dwell. Does this mean that if our bodies are the temple, then the spirit is God within each of us? I tihnk so.
I am grateful that my body does what my mind tells it to. My will creates a thought that I want to stand up from the chair I am sitting in. My brain responds by sending an impulse to my legs and core muscles. And my body stands up. As long as there has not been an injury or defect to interrupt this chain of events, in less than one second, all of this happens almost without a conscious thought.
Our bodies are our obedient servants. Unless we subdue the spirit by allowing the body to lead. When I had a heart attack 7 years ago, through meditation, journaling and a deep connection with God, I realized I had made the choice that my physical needs were more important than my spiritual needs. A heart attack was the result of my spirit fighting back.
If we find ourselves unwilling to step forward when our spirit knows it is the best thing for us, that is a huge warning sign that we are letting our body take charge of our spirit. Be aware that since we are a whole body which includes mind, spirit, heart, elbow, knee, and God Within, there will eventually be an uprising in the form of a physical ailment to remind us that the body is limited, but the spirit is infinite.
The spirit is ruled by truth, the body is ruled by fear. The spirit is perfectly aligned with God and has memory of all things past, present and future. The spirit is the means by which God communicates with us. The body is the obedient servant that does the will of the Father as relayed through the spirit.
I am my body, I am my spirit, I am my will. These parts of me separately, are nothing compared to the power of me working together in tandem with God as a whole, perfect creation.
Today, I Give Myself Permission to be Whole, Complete, Perfect
