I shared a couple of interesting stories about detours that taught me some valuable lessons.

  1. I might be following the detour signs and still get lost or off track. A human guide is more welcome than a signpost at that point.
  2. If I am the leader, I have a responsibility to get back on track asap
  3. A detour sign isn’t necessarily for me right now. If I am prepared and can navigate through some challenges, it may be better just to trudge ahead. The sign could have been a warning to me before I was ready.

We can be literally and figuratively in a fog or on a road that is under construction, and if there is a detour sign that we can trust, we will be safe and get to our destination in perfect timing.

Inspiration is better than a road map when obstacles come our way. Our plan is good until something unexpected comes up. Then it’s time to let go and let God guide us. We may feel that our inspiration is taking us off track, but in reality, it is the more scenic route, the path that will prepare us to eventually reach our destination in the most efficient way possible. And BONUS: The outcome is way more exciting than we ever could have imagined!
