This week's episode follows Pastor Noah's sermon on Matthew 5:8, blessed are the pure in heart. Pure in heart can also be described as undivided affections. We're going to dive deeper into issues of the heart. Is the heart of believers pure or deceitful? The subject of the human heart is a deep well. We'll get our ankles in it and splash around a little.
In this episode we're following up Pastor Noah's sermon on Matthew 5:7, blessed are the merciful. We dive deeper into mercy, how it's one of the characteristics of God, and how it should manifest all believers. (Due to internet problems, this episode was posted before the sermon. We're diving deeper into the discussion of what it means to hunger and thirst for righteousness. How does it connect to the issue of contentment? And what might the issue of contentment reveal about our salvation?
Meekness is a quality that needs explanation. No one brags about being meek. No one receives awards for being the meekest. It's just not a celebrated quality in our culture. However, Jesus exalts it as a marker of kingdom people. The meek are blessed because they will inherit the earth. We'll spend this episode diving a little deeper into what it means to be meek.

Describe a time when you strayed and He called you back. 4. The thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy. How can we guard against the thief/false shepherd? 5. The Good Shepherd lays doesn't just risk his life, but He lays down His life for His sheep. What is the difference between risking and laying down your life? How should it shape our view of Jesus as the Good Shepherd? 6. Pastor Noah spoke of the value of the flock. Why is being in community valuable to you personally? Why do we sometimes drift away from community? 7. What is something you learned or that stood out to you about Jesus as the Good Shepherd? Why is this significant? How does this change how we learn, live, share, and send the Gospel?
Jesus said, "I am the Light of the world. Whoever FOLLOWS ME will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." Pastor Noah preached a message about what it means to have the Light.

When Jesus called Levi (Matthew) he was calling a tax collector. He was hated, he didn't deserve Christ's love, and yet he was called. Pastor Noah preaches through this text highlighting how no one deserves to be called, but Jesus calls us anyways.

As we begin 2020, the elders at NHC have sought the Lord and believe that our direction for the year should focus around Christ's command to FOLLOW ME. Pastor David begins a FOLLOW ME series by examining how Jesus set his course from the wilderness and Gethsemane.
