In the Engineered-Mind podcast, Jousef Murad is talking to researchers, scientists and engineers and how their work is shaping the world around us. The podcast covers topics around engineering, artificial intelligence, technology and more to inspire and educate people all around the world.
Kanchan is an aerospace engineer by training. Early on, she became fascinated with computational fluid dynamics and decided to make her career in this field. Her last stint was in a CFD software development firm that catered to the helicopter industry. She spent some time in the US at Iowa State University. Mumbai after marriage, and presently, she lives in Singapore with her husband and her two lovely daughters (my opinion on their loveliness is liable to change depending on how the day progresses!). As a Product Manager, she is very much in touch with CFD and simulation, while also being involved in the business-facing aspects of technology.

💻 Full tutorial: • Physics-Informed Neural Networks (PIN... Physics-Informed Neural Networks (PINNs) integrate known physical laws into neural network learning, particularly for solving differential equations. They embed these laws into the network's loss function, guiding the learning process beyond just data fitting. This integration helps the network predict solutions that are not only data-driven but also align with physical principles, making PINNs especially useful in fields like fluid dynamics and heat transfer. By blending data with established physics, PINNs offer more accurate and robust predictions, especially in data-scarce scenarios.

Based on his fascination for GPU and 3D graphics, Eugen initiated the development of a prototypical GPU-accelerated program for simulating flows as early as 2007 during his studies in aerospace at the Technical University of Munich (TUM).
Following his studies, he brought the software prototype into an existing spin-off company, which he had previously helped to build through his expertise in HPC and GPU. With the experience he gained, he started his own business in 2013 to develop pacefish® to market maturity as a highly efficient tool for simulating fluid flows. In 2016, he then founded Numeric Systems GmbH.
Since then, Eugen Riegel and his team have been working on pacefish®, a product he has always believed in and which is characterized by his strong perseverance and enthusiasm for highly efficient software.

StatQuest started out as an attempt to explain statistics to his former co-workers – who were all genetics researchers at UNC-Chapel Hill. According to Josh Starmer, they did amazing experiments, but they didn’t always know what to do with the data they generated. That was his job. But he wanted them to understand that what he did wasn’t magic – it was actually quite simple. It only seemed hard because it was wrapped up in confusing terminology and typically communicated using equations. He found that if he stripped away the terminology and communicated the concepts using pictures, it became easy to understand

Andrew G. Barto is a former computer scientist and professor emeritus and known for his research on learning in machines and animals. He worked on developing learning algorithms that are useful for engineering applications but that also make contact with learning as studied by psychologists and neuroscientists.
When it comes to reinforcement learning (RL), it has been immensely gratifying for Andrew to participate in establishing new links between RL and methods from the theory of stochastic optimal control. Especially exciting are the connections between temporal difference (TD) algorithms and the brain's dopamine system.
Plenty of people know him as one of the authors of the great book “Reinforcement Learning: An Introduction” which he wrote with his colleague Richard Sutton.

For the third podcast I am very happy to have the team of DarkAero on the show. They are a team of three brothers - Keegan, River, and Ryley Karl. They are engineering the fastest longest range aircraft you can build in your garage!
Their inspiration for the company and the DarkAero 1 grew out of years of visits to EAA AirVenture. Over those years they were always looking for new kit aircraft attempting to push the limits of speed, range, and efficiency by leveraging the latest tools, materials, and technology.
After a few years of quietly researching, testing, and experimenting they decided to leave their engineering jobs in July 2017 to pursue DarkAero full time with the mission of creating the best kit aircraft.
