Old Savannah Baptist Church is a spirit-filled, family oriented, Bible believing Church on Sutton Branch Road off Hwy 441 about 3 miles South of Dillsboro, NC. Our purpose is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ and share His love with others that they too may come to worship Him.
The 3 Characters in Act 3: Are you the Peter/ John or the unknown person that carried the Lame man to the gate for help or the Lame Man? this was a powerful message to Christian or Lost person! No sin is too great to get forgiveness.
3 Elements present in the Church: 1. Serve - God saved us to work. 2. Witness/Testimony - When you are save, you have a witness. Can you name the place and time where you were saved? 3.Worship - Believe that God can. God is able!
Mark 2:1-12 Carry them to the feet of Jesus by: 1. Prayer, never ceasing! 2. Having Faith to reach God. 3. Love 4. Persistance

II Kings 4:8-21
Provision - A table to eat from (church), stool to rest, candlestick (light for your journey), and bed (when He comes back we'll rest forever).
Promise - Rely on a promise from God. We will face problems we feel impossible, our faith waivers. Everything hinges on God. -How can you get lost from some one who never leaves you.
Problems - We have unexpected problems, our problems are due to self. -We serve a God who is concerned about us.
Surrender - We have to surrender our problems by leaving them in God's hands. -We give up on God to soon, don't grab a shovel and try to bury your problems.
Peace - Look at the trials and look at God. Pour out to God and He will give you Peace in the time of trouble.
John 20:19-29 1. You may miss the Peace Of God. 2. You may miss the Proof Of God. 3. You may miss the Purpose. 4. You may miss the Breath.
Psalms 22:3 3 things about Praise 1. Praise elevates us into the presence and power of God. Not a reaction, we are not supposed to wait for the spirit to show praise. Praise him anyways!!!
Praise is a lifestyle. Don'e leave your praise at church! (Psalm 34)
Praise sends the enemy running!
There are many ways to show your praise: Shouting, crying, raising of your hands, clapping etc.
Matthew 10:1 A holy spirit led service, reading of the word is not available in audio due to the nature of the services.
Matthew 13:1-8; 18-23
Four Kinds Of Hearts: 1. Hard Heart - (v.19) Fell by the way side, well worn, harden. This heart cannot receive the gospel.
Shallow Heart - (v. 20) Received with joy but when persecution arise/hard times happen then go astray. These types just want to be present but do no work.
Crowded Heart - (v. 22) Thorns of this world take over (money/priorities) Our priorities of our heart take number one spot instead of the church.
Fruitful Heart - (v. 23) Good soil .. there must be fruit in our lives.
In this passage Pastor discussed 3 things that are important from this message. 1. Man of Power 2. Man of Perseverance 3. Man of Praise
Pastor David read from Psalms 107:26 & 29 In discussion he mentioned maybe we are here today for shelter or to draw near to god.
The Hymns we see in the pews are all songs born from struggles someone had - not produced during the good times. God gives us a song after the storms! Many time we'll witness people come when the storms occur and leave once they pass by. It seems like the longer we walk with the Lord the less we sing..we should be the one not keeping quiet. Just where is our song? A million things should have killed us, but it didn't. We have plenty to sing about - so we should!
Scriptures from Matthew 5:12-17, John 8:31, John 15:5, John 15:14, Acts 11:26, and James 2:5
He preached from Hebrews 13: 9-14 OUTSIDE THE CAMP. Outside the city walls was where the remainder of burnt sacrifices were burned, where the Criminals has to stay. A place of rejection and shame. He then moved to two crosses. The cross of deliverance and the cross of discipleship. ~ Cross of Deliverance - The wages of sin is death, blood for remission of sins. 1st Peter 2:9 chosen generation. ~ Cross of Discipleship - Personal devotion, sacrificial devotion, eternal destination. Hebrews 11:24-27
Hoopers Creek Baptist Church littlest singing for night one of the Soldier's Of The Cross event.
Phillip Youngblood, Pastor of Hoopers Creek preached from Genesis 11:1-4. Noah got off the Ark with knowledge. - replenish the earth - go to all the earth - do not dwell or get to comfortable and complacent - do not do it your way They were determined to build it our way....how many time did they say LET US. Churches today are saying we will do it our way. - mega churches - man made music - man made ministries - man made religion We have failing values We need to be responsible for our actions There were three Arcs- none had motors or anything to guide it. Had to depend GOD to guide Noah's Arc, Moses Mothers Arc and the Arc of the Covenant We need to not look at what we have done but what he has done. John said I must decrease so that He can increase.
3/8/15 Pastor David preached from Romans 5:1 Standing in Grace. Tribulation - not natural to praise, glory, give thanksgiving in tribulation, sufferings, brokenness, pain,or heartbreak. Patience - abide under, ability to stay under pressure, endurance, fortitude. In a marathon, stick with it, bear it. Hope - an expectation, a certainty. Gods got a plan, wants to use us to be a lighthouse. God wants to do something with us. Wants to build stick-to-it-ness in us. Ability to stand under adversity. We need passion for true prayer. Need anguish not just concern.
Elizabeth's testimony and song with sister Abigail followed with an invitation by David Souderes
Acts 16: 25-35 Carrying on from last Sunday's services where we had 9 people saved between the two services. Today Pastor David spoke of how we've seen the people saved and we've heard the message on it becoming IMPOSSIBLE to be saved. The question of the day is: What must I do to be saved?
Pastor David preached from Hebrews 6:4-6 with the thought of " When It Is Impossible to be Saved". Doing everything they needed to do as a Jewish Church Member except surrender and accept Christ. Their minds had been enlightened ( see their sin, see the righteousness of Christ, see the judgement to come) tasted of the heavenly gift, felt word of GOD, tasted Holy Spirit. Have come so close but not there. If you keep turning your back then and rejecting the Savior, it will be impossible to be saved.
Martha Patterson and the OSBC Choir did "One More River" and what a blessing it was to the congregation.
The Senior Citizens within Old Savannah Baptist Church got up and sung for us this Sunday morning. It was such a treat!
Acts 16: 11-14 on the Stirring or Working of the Holy Spirit. He talked about three people who were religious, believed in GOD, worshiped, went to church but were still lost. Lydia, Nicodemus, and the Ethopian Eunach. How our pride holds us back but the Holy Spirit works within us to convict us of our lost condition. We had three people saved and two more who sought reassurance.
Mark 9:42-48 Hell is spoke of 162 times in the N.T and 70 times spoke by Jesus.
Hell is worse than anything you could imagine! Hell was created for the Devil and his angels, but those unsaved will go there also. Those who are good morally but without salvation will die and go to Hell.
The Horrors of Hell include: 1. Bottomless pit - feel as if you are falling (Psalms 9:15) 2. Torments of Fire - turned into fire, burn forever, never consumed of fire.. 3. The worm dies not - We will have a worm that will eat at as forever. (Isaiah 66:24) 4. Weeping & Lashing of teeth will happen - you'll wish you could die. (Like the rich man and Lazarus, the rich man asked for water on the tip of his finger instead of asking to be delivered from hell) 5. Everlasting Terror - All hope is abandoned, when you leave your body you'll hear the weeping and whaling of those in hell.
Becky and Andrew York were in town and joining us in worship on this day. We always enjoy hearing them sing and play for us, we especially enjoy when they sing this song!
February 8, 2015- Evening -The Pastor preached a short sermon on Three things You Have To Know. 1- Have you been saved 2- Who do you love 3- How do you love James 4: 13-17 tell us that life is but a vapor. Have you been wasting time? We need to focus on the eternal things. Elizabeth sang Out of Dark Places, Sweet things will come
Colossians 2: 7-10. - All Christianity is through GOD. There are 11 major religions, only one salvation. - The union to Christ makes us independent of others - Christ is full of the power of GOD - Satan makes sim look good yo deceive us. Lust of eye, made of look good. Lust of food, made it taste good. - Love of Christ. Grace is sufficient G God's R redemption A at C Christs E. Expense We are to show love to others. - Faithfulness of GOD - He don't change - Purpose of GOD is to defeat and punish sin. GOD took the curse off of man with Jesus blood on the cross.
We need to learn from our mistakes. Need to look at the ways we are like Peter. - Doubt - Satans number 1 tool to defeat us. - Discouragement - Think God ought to do what we think he should. We should pray for our Pastor that God will make him into what he wants him to be. JOY gives us the will to do. - Denial- if we are Gods we cannot deny who we are. - Diversion - A house divided cannot stand. - Defeat - Feel like a failure, no need to try. Don't give up, give it all to God. - Delay - makes you put off doing something till its too late - Delight - Fellowship with Brothers and Sisters... we cant have unless we love GOD. We need to get rid of the weights of life.
Luke 1: 34-38 With God All Things Are Possible
It has been noted that there is at least 6000 promises in the Bible.
In the text we can break down one verse, verse 37 "For with God nothing shall be impossible." beginning with the word 'nothing' translating as "no word' meaning no word or no promise God makes will prove impossible for God to fulfill or keep.
Other relative occurrences in the scripture: Gen. 18 - Nothing is impossible concerning God's promises mentioned in the text is: "is anything to hard for God?" God says, "I Will" meaning he will guarantee his word, his promise in his time.
Num. 11 - Nothing is impossible in God's provisions God provided manna for them but they grew tired of it, God sent with the question "Is the Lord's hand waxed and short?" God provided quail to eat instead of the manna. Whatever burden you carry God's hand is not short he can bring you from it.
Jer. 32 - Nothing is impossible in God's power "I made the Heavens and the Earth...is there anything to hard for me?" When God created he took NOTHING and made EVERYTHING that we know today!
If God can do these things don't you think God can take your struggles and problems and make something of them?
NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH GOD. Quit looking at a small God, He is a big God. You have to trust God will make a way when you see no way!
Getting us in the Christmas mood young Grace Alcorta provided us with the song away in a manger.
This morning, Sunday November 23, 2014 Pastor David preached on the "Fires of Favor" from Luke 1: 28-30. Mary had plans and dreams but GOD interrupted her life. He never interrupts our life at a convenient season. Angel told her she was highly favored but not in the way Mary thought. There is always a test before triumph. Will you stand when you don't have the strength to stand. Did Mary think this was favor? - Pregnant out of wedlock without being with a man - Had to tell Joseph - Endure gossip and being an outcast - Had to ride a donkey all the way to Bethlehem - Had her baby in a barn - Had to be on the run for 2 years
She was tenacious and did not quit. We now have a generation of quitters. No staying power. Remember GOD chose you for the task. Need to take plan and keep walking. Marys tests did not end there, saw her Son falsely accused, no where to lay his head, tried, crown of thorns, beaten, made to carry cross, crucified, side pierced, buried. Until the empty tomb and she saw GODS plan live again. Was in upper room when Holy Ghost came Acts 1:14. Stay with it till you get your Joy back Joel 2:25.
So tell yourself: I am digging in. If I can just stand one more time, fight one more fight!
Victorious Valley Girls join us in our services to bless us with singing, testimonies and passages from the Bible.
1 Thessalonians 5: 19-22
Each verse has to do with preaching: Verse 19 "quench not the spirit": the spirit can be resistant, spirit grieves and the spirit can be quenched.
Verse 20 "despise not prophesyings": preaching should be: 1. plain 2. personal and 3. promising
Verse 21 "prove all things; hold fast that which is good": today many accepts anything that comes from people - we believe everyone who say they are Christians are, when they are not.
Verse 22 " abstain from all appearance of evil": things that are not good (i.e. movies, music, tv shows, or books) get rid of these things as they are the appearance of evil.
Your Flag and my Flag! And, oh, how much it holds - Your land and my land - Secure within its folds! Your heart and my heart Beat quicker at the sight; Sun-kissed and wind-tossed, Red and blue and white. The one Flag - the great Flag - the Flag for me and you - Glorified all else beside - the red and white and blue!
Your Flag and my Flag! To every star and stripe The drums beat as hearts beat And fifers shrilly pipe! Your Flag and my Flag - A blessing in the sky; Your hope and my hope - It never hid a lie! Home land and far land and half the world around, Old Glory hears our glad salute and ripples to the sound!
Martha Patterson, Elizabeth, Abigail and Sarah Souderes singing The Blind Man (Saw it all)
Pastor David's sermon came from Matthew 12:43-45 today with the thought "Worse In The End" We invite you to listen along to David's message.
Brandon Tolley from Statesville NC answered his call to preach at age 15. Now 18, a student at Western Carolina University continues to spread the word of God. Brandon preached from Leviticus 16 with a message of "A Day Of Atonement"
Special singing tonight at OSBC by Martha Patterson, Sarah, Elizabeth and Abigail Souderes.
Bobby Hensley and the Old Savannah Choir started the tent meeting each night with this song!
Brother Barry Spears preached from 2 Timothy 4:6-22. He titled it Don't wait till Winter or don't wait too late. The Apostle Paul in his letter to young Timothy asking him to come to see him quickly and bring him what he needed. There is no record that he made it in time. There were at least seven precious souls saved, lots of shouting and praising the Lord.
Barry Spears brought a message about anger or grudges that keep us from being where God can use us or be as close to Him as we can.
Jimmy Caudill singing a very unique song sound for the night but I enjoyed it, I hope you will!
An amazing service under the tent tonight! You know the presence of God is present when the man with God's message does not have to say a word.
Jackson Jubilee Night 1, Sept 5th 2014 Singing by The Edwards Family "Roll You Over The Tide"
"What do you do"? was the thought behind Pastor David's sermon on Sunday Morning, August 31, 2014. When you are carrying a burden, it is not only the weight of the burden but also the length of time you have carried it that determines how heavy it is. What do you do when someone you know is drowning spiritually, mentally, or emotionally or even physically and it weighs on your heart greatly. Do you stand on shore and throw out a life line or do you jump in with them and try to help them. Do you cast them upon the LORD. Not for judgement or justice but for mercy and and grace. The Pharisees brought the woman taken in adultry into the synagogue where Jesus was teaching and cast her at Jesus feet under the law of Moses. They had such pomp, arrogance, and pride to come in and interrupt Jesus teaching and continue to clamor even when he ignored them. He told her accusers to cast the first stone if they were without sin. He leaned down and wrote on the sand. Maybe he was writing the accusers sins(the skeletons in their closets). Their hearts were pricked and they left one by one, the oldest, maybe with the most skeletons, to the youngest. Jesus don't judge but gives her grace and mercy. If we bring our friends and cast them on the LORD in prayer, what would Jesus do?
Colossians 4:17
Everyone has a ministry, we have to ask ourselves why does God have a plan for us?
The reason God gives us a plan is because we have people around us that need The Lord and we may be the tool he can use to get to these people.
You need to notice the ministry: I have been given a ministry, am I fulfilling it?
You must guard your ministry: If your doing what God has anointed you to do, you would have peace.
You have a growing of the ministry. As the passage says "See they fulfill it"
Hosted by Old Savannah Baptist Church Pastor David Souderes Combined Youth Choir Skits by Stanleytown Amazing Grace Baptist Church Preaching by Bro. Barry Spears at Western Carolina University Bardo Arts Center July 26th, 6pm
Isaiah 61:3 There were over 40 kids there college age and under. The message was primarily for youth and their parents. Aunts and Uncles, Grandparents and everyone can also benefit from it as well. Ashes represent what has been destroyed or lost. How do we get to the ash heap: Sometimes we can be good people and still end up there like Job, sometimes we may be going through trial by fire, sometimes because of decisions or choices we make in life, sometimes because we ignore good advice we are given, and sometimes if we touch what GOD says not to touch. GOD tells us in Jeremiah 29:11 that he has plans for us. Plans to prosper us and not to harm us. He challenged us to write down some things we are not willing to compromise on in our faith especially the youth, who we hang out with, who we date, no sex before marriage, don't settle for good instead of waiting for God's best, no drinking, no drugs, etc. He warned us that we don't just decide we are going to sin, to compromise, but it is little by little, and it is a slippery slope. But also some things we will do such as read and immerse ourselves in our Bibles, pray on a regular basis....not just come to GOD with our wish list but have an honest, down to earth conversation with him, be kind, don't gossip, etc. Thank You LORD for what you have brought me from. Thank You for loving me even when I have messed my life up royally and ended up in an Ash heap. Because out of that ash heap, GOD can bring beauty.
