On Thursday's Morning Focus, Alan was joined by Michael Mc Tigue, a relative of the legendary Clare world champion boxer, Mike Mc Tigue. Mike Mc Tigue has been mentioned on the show recently and has even featured in his own documentary which you can find on the Clare FM SoundCloud here https://on.soundcloud.com/VFtSH . Michael discussed the process he had to go through to rename "Victoria's Bridge" in Ennis to "The Mike McTigue Bridge". He expressed how he was delighted to succeed in his efforts to rename the bridge, but also rescuing Mike's name from being forgotten about in history. Alan and Michael outlined the difference in votes in favour for the renaming of the bridge and against the renaming. The votes stood at 108 for the renaming and 82 against the renaming of the bridge. Michael highlighted that he hopes to put something on or adjacent to the bridge as a symbol for Mike and his historic boxing career.
