Uisce Éireann is reassuring that the replacement of old water mains in Doonbeg is a priority and that it will continue to work closely with local operational teams to prioritise watermains replacement across the county. The utility is repairing leaking pipe network infrastructure and replacing ageing and problematic watermains on a prioritised basis in Clare, with works currently being carried out in the Ennis, Ennistymon and Alva, Creegh areas. A section of works to carry out watermains replacement in Doonbeg is currently moving through a detailed design stage and Uisce Éireann says it will communicate clear details of the project to stakeholders and the local community before it goes to the construction phase. It comes in the wake of criticism from West Clare Fianna Fáil Councillor Cillian Murphy, who says ongoing disruption to supply in the Doonbeg area is hugely disruptive.
