Revelation 3:14-22. Did you ever have that friend that would convince you to do the dumb stuff that they themselves were unwilling to do or that their parents would not let them do? I did, and I found myself on the roof with a bed sheet tied around my neck like a cape. Why not a towel like other kids? Well, He and I were sure that a towel was not sufficient for an appropriate amount of lift. I found out, the hard way, that a bed sheet also fell short of our proposed ability to fly. It was one small step off the roof to a hard landing on the lawn. So glad we lived in ranch style home. Now we all do some really foolish things when we are young and pay the price often with mostly physical and some emotional injuries. But life goes on with those lessons learned. But some never learn one of the most critical lessons. That day I discovered that my personal view of gravity had no bearing whatsoever on the actual reality of gravity. I would wish and think that I could fly with a bedsheet, but alas the nature of gravity won. My personal reality does not hold up under an actual reality check. The same is true for many around us today. We can build a gated facade of personal feelings and opinions to try and protect ourselves, but when confronted by the truth of God's word it all comes crashing down and we find ourselves in need of divine rescue. Jesus stands at the door. Will you let Him in?
