The root of most sin is the suspicion that God is not good. Can I really trust Him to take care of me? If not, I'll excuse all manner of sin to take care of myself. But if I can trust His goodness, if I can really believe that He is always, infinitely good to me, then I can sacrifice my rights and desires to follow the patient, humble, loving example of Jesus Christ.
