Submission to authority is one of the genuine marks of spiritual maturity in a believer's life. Jesus Christ submitted to God the Father and we are to imitate His example. Jesus said, "I can do nothing on My own initiative...I do not seek My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me." (John 5:30) We are also instructed to joyfully submit to earthly authority that God has placed over us.
