In this, one of the most famous passages in the entire Bible, God calls us to live as one; to unify together around our common mission of sharing the gospel. We grow that unity with one another by choosing to love each other as God loves us, by pursuing harmony rather than our own self-interests, by embracing humility that promotes others above self, and by practicing selflessness that cares for the needs of others. Yet none of these comes easily to us! That's why Paul directs us to the stunning example of Jesus Christ, whose humiliation and exaltation motivate us to pursue unity at any price.
