Paul gives thanks for the Philippian believers - they have been full participants in the gospel (1:3-8). However, he is not complacent about their future. He wants even more for them. He wants them to lead lives that matter; to discern and choose the best; to live in a manner that reflects the righteousness of Christ, as they love God and one another... all to the glory and praise of God.
