SERMON GUIDE The Happiness Advantage Part 2- Purpose

Big Idea: Your life’s purpose is to live with purpose.

John 10:10 The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.

1 Corinthians 3: 4-9 When one of you says, “I am a follower of Paul,” and another says, “I follow Apollos,” aren’t you acting just like people of the world? After all, who is Apollos? Who is Paul? We are only God’s servants through whom you believed the Good News. Each of us did the work the Lord gave us. I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow. It’s not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What’s important is that God makes the seed grow. The one who plants and the one who waters work together with the same purpose. And both will be rewarded for their own hard work. For we are both God’s workers. And you are God’s field. You are God’s building.

Ephesians 2:10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

Colossians 3: 23-24 Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.

How To Know Your Life Has Purpose 1. Are you working with enthusiasm? 2. Are you focusing on eternity? 3. Are you living for Jesus?

Discussion Questions 1. As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up ? 2. Talk about a time when what you were doing felt purposeful and in partnership with God. 3. How would you describe your relationship with God, as a Co-worker with purpose? 4. Of the three questions asked to know if your life has purpose, which one are you struggling with the most? How can your group be praying for you?
