The writer's goal in demonstrating Jesus' superior priesthood was to assert and affirm the superiority of the covenant enacted on that priesthood -7-11-12-. Thus the writer moved immediately from his summary of Jesus' priesthood to the covenant associated with it. This message considers his opening assertions regarding this new and better covenant, its superiority over its Israelite predecessor, and its necessity due to the former's inability.
