Sanctification is the process by which we grow in holiness—becoming more Christlike—throughout our lives. Unlike some other aspects of salvation (eg. God elects, God regenerates our hearts, God justifies us), we play an active role with God in our sanctification. So while we won’t be perfect this side of heaven, the Christian life is nonetheless marked by growth in holiness and Christlikeness. Good News: Those who have been saved are no longer enslaved to sin. By the power of the Holy Spirit and the resurrection life of Jesus working within us, we can overcome temptation and habitual sin.
