As Vice President of Federal Affairs for Cash America, Kevin Kimble’s main responsibilities are advocating for federal public policy and maintaining strong relationships with members and staff of various branches of the Federal government. Prior to joining the company, Kevin served as the Chief of Staff/Counsel for Congressman Charles Gonzales on Capitol Hill and at a D.C. law firm. We will discuss the following issues today: re. access to credit among underserved Americans and some facts to understand the unmet needs: $454 billion less credit available to consumers since 2007. There are 60 million unbanked or under-banked individuals in the U.S., a number that is growing by almost 3 million every year. Nearly half of Americans cannot access $2K in 30 days to meet an emergency and 1 out of 2 Americans live paycheck to paycheck and Bank overdraft fees cost Americans $31.6 billion in 2011. 821,000 households opted out of the banking system from 2009 to 2011.
