This week there are three sections. At the end of the Mozilla Festival I went to visit Jill Hodges at Fire Tech Camp, then went to visit a Raspberry Pi exhibit at Manchester Science Festival and then ended my week at Tech Fest in Dubai.

I decided to try something different from handouts, lectures and posters. I wanted something that would really grab their attention. It's very rough and not quite ready. Looking for some feedback. I wanted a different way to get a message to children in Year 9 at our school who will be making their GCSE subject choices in January. So I plan to record a parody of a rap video in school, teachers dancing etc. then put it on YouTube. I only wish my rapping didn't sound so flat - I need some vocal coaching.

Disappointed with myself for not giving a more clear talk on Hack To The Future and raising profile of girls in computing science.
In this audioboo recording, you can hear some of my Year 10 GCSE Computing class wrestling with what appears to be a simple programming challenge. In pairs, they have been asked to create a simple program using Python that will receive two numbers and then display the sum of these two numbers.
After a lesson in which the children taught the rest of the class, I ask the 'teachers' and pupils what they thought of it. Year 7 have been introduced to Python programming, the lesson focus has been integers, operators, expressions and variables
At the end of our family computing event, I interview some of the parents, grandparents and children that have taken part. Listen to what they say about the event.
At the start of the evening I noticed a parent who seemed a little sceptical about the contribution she could make to an evening for families to create computer games together. I decided to take a risk and ask her to be an impartial observer and gather feedback throughout the evening. Listen to her impressions here
This games creation event used Scratch software as the method for families to create games. I asked some of the children, parents, grandparents and some teachers what their opinions of Scatch were.

Catherine Rushmore curator at Museum of Science and Industry Manchester (MOSI) describes some of the computing exhibits that can be found in the electricity gallery of the 1830s warehouse. This includes Douglas Hartree's Differential Analyser, information boards, explanation of binary, a ferranti pegasus and a ZX81! There is a collection of many other computing history items.
