We live as though mercy has no obligations.

For those of us who have been fortunate enough to be let off with a warning after being caught speeding, how long did it take before you were speeding again? 5 minutes?

For the students who have terrible study habits and didn’t finish a project on time, and your professor allowed for a late submittal. How long before you started procrastinating again?

Time and time again, we are continually shown mercy and live as though we have no obligations on the mercy we have received. Nowhere is our inconsistencies more apparent that our relationship with God. As followers of Jesus we believe we have been rescued from a life of misery and an eternity of separation, and yet we can’t seem to read our Bible on a regular basis. We can’t seem to make decisions without asking His guidance first.

The text we will dive into is a reminder that experiencing God’s mercy makes sacrifice the only logical response.
