On January 8, 2010, Yosemitebear62 posted a video of himself experiencing the magnificence of the rarely seen Double Rainbow. He reasonably titled the video, “ Mountain Double Rainbow. In his own words, he reports, “It was rainbowing for at least an hour [that day]. It was incredible. I knew immediately what it was, [and] I was shaking as I watched it for the first time....The camera could not capture the vivid intensity and brightness. Look into the mirror, look into your soul! What it means.”

This may seem a silly exploit; simply a laughable moment. But there is something raw, human, powerful about this video. This man is in awe of what he is witnessing and experiencing. He is overwhelmed , and it is obvious. He rejoices at the sight of this double rainbow. He weeps as he dwells on its significance. He resounds with joy, crying out at the privilege of getting to experience this moment. He questions why he gets to encounter something so awe-inspiring and mesmerizing — and all he’s seen is a Rainbow.

And so I wonder, could there be something deeper that would challenge all of those notions and more? Could there be, at our core , something else that is expressed through those many other reasons? I believe there is... We are not in awe of God.
