What if we didn’t have to have it all figured out? What if we didn’t have to control every outcome? What if we could actually relax into the reality that God might actually get it done better, even if we don’t fully understand His means or methods?

What if we could actually relax into the reality that God might actually get it done better, even if we don’t fully understand His means or methods? This is exactly what von Moltke understood, as he wrote to his wife in his final letter, “the agony of parting, the terror of death, the fear of hell have no power over me. I know that I am living only in His grace.”

This is what the Teacher would have us understand as well, as he commends to us that All will go well for those who fear God and wisdom enable them to trust in His work. Though we may feel as though we are not in control, and though we may fear that the chaos of life will overwhelm us, the mystery of God is a greater gift than the illusion of control. And when we lean into it, everything else will be sorted accordingly.
