In the United States we live in relative physical comfort compared to the rest of the world. This has led us as a people to develop a poor understanding of God, and the manner in which He works. We have been deceived into thinking that if God is pleased with me, my life will be relatively comfortable. Inversely, we believe that if I am suffering then I must be in sin. God must be mad at me.
